Always interesting to see what changes between when AAA tapes TV and when they air it. This was the taping with no announcers, though you’d be hard pressed to notice it. There were no shots of announces, and occasionally you could hear the replacement ring announcing, but they removed all traces of the angle done to cover their absence.
You know what would be dumb? A promotion giving away results from a show we haven’t seen yet, for no particular reason.
Rió Bravo, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana II vs Argenis, Atomic Boy, Relampago – too much time and not the right guys to fill it. They’ve definitely had better matches than this.
Alex Koslov & Teddy Hart vs Jack Evans & Rocky Romero – At this point, only Alex has a match on the next big show, if you’re just following along to the TV show. So he’s the only one who doesn’t get promo time, and Teddy’s promo doesn’t explain why Nikki’s back or where she’s been. But he does use the time to push his important feud with Harry Smith and Tyson Kidd, so that’s great.
I’d rather watch Alex Koslov in a match than Teddy Hart any day of the week. Teddy is a very athletic individual who can do lots of spots, but Alex can actually be entertaining. A rudo who gets beat up by the tecnicos and only gains an advantage by cheating, what a idea.
Either someone needed to explain to Piero that these guys wanted to use tap outs as submissions, or someone needed to explain to these guys how to give up in lucha libre. Having it go wrong twice in two tapings is lazy.
Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario vs El Elegido & Gronda – Expected mess. The damage is usually self inflicted via stupid risk, but I actually feel sympathy when Joe Lider gets bat up here, because it’s often his opponents being dumb.
Billy Boy & Sexy Star vs Aerostar & Fabi Apache in a street fight match – Billy pinning Aerostar was a pretty clear sign, in retrospect. Oh well. Billy and Aero were having a pretty good match at points, which we saw little off. They’ve certainly built the rudos strong here. The street fight seemed not so completely thought out – they wanted to do a spot on the second floor, but had no idea what else to do, so they just walked over, did the spot, and walked back.
Charly Manson & Marco Corleone vs Chessman & Cibernético – no, this was old school Vipers, especially everything involving Marco. Marco/Chessman is a feud that would be vastly entertaining.
El Mesías vs Dr. Wagner Jr. in a bull terrier match – Good thing this aired after Verano; this match would’ve sold negative tickets. Every time they do these rematches, it seems more likely their TripleMania match was one brilliant but completely isolated moment in time. (Though this was still much better than their one on one in the cage match.)
With Cibernético nearly being awarded a win in a chain match he wasn’t actually even in, I now am convinced that Chessman would’ve won the title last year at Guerra de Titanes if Charly had just stayed out of his way and let him climb that ladder. Chessman was so right to turn on him.
