Next week’s lineups.

Bonus midnight post to mention you’ve still got about 10 hours to buy the Chikara Sampler. GO DO IT.

IWRG (THU) 10/08 Arena Naucalpan
1) Keshin Black vs Halcon 2000
2) Jack & Miss Gaviota vs Epidemia & Heavy Boy
3) Eragon vs Hijo del Signo
4) Bushi, Exodia, Hombre Bala Jr. vs Arlequin Amarillo, Arlequin Rojo, Gringo Loco
5) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Barba Roja, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr.

Main probably should be a title match, but it’s not listed as one yet and AK47 wasn’t around last week to give the challengers the non-title win. Arlequins do reappear, a mild upset. Not sure if Hombre Bala turned when I wasn’t paying attention, or if really deosn’t matter at all. Also don’t know why that singles match going. Do know this has to be a cheap card to put on, labor wise.

CMLL (FRI) 10/09 Arena Mexico
1) Delta & Diamante vs Disturbio & Escorpion
2) Dark Angel, Lluvia, Marcela vs Amapola, Princesa Sujei, Zeuxis
3) Máximo vs Misterioso II [lightning]
4) La Máscara, Sagrado, Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca, Virus
5) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
6) Black Warrior, Shocker, Strong Man vs Naito, Shigeo Okumura, Yujiro

Main event is an odd way to debut Strong Man. No Limit should be winning, and Strong Man should have people to throw around. As is, they’re the better matches, but the top 2 rudo teams kinda should be switched (with Warrior going with Yujiro.)

CMLL (SUN) 10/11 Arena Coliseo
1) Molotov & Principe vs Inquisidor & Semental
2) Leono, Metálico, Tony Rivera vs Apocalipsis, Pólvora, Ramstein
3) Eléctrico, Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
4) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Sagrado vs Felino, Heavy Metal, Sangre Azteca
5) Blue Panther, Shocker, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

Strong Man all over the place. Speaking of people coming in, this week’s Ras de Lona apparently says Steele is returning. Also, I saw a link for a Reforma article talking to Super Porky about his CMLL return, but it was behind their subscriber only window.

CMLL (SUN) 10/11 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy & Virgo vs Idolo & Metatrón
2) Leon Blanco & Samurai vs Egipcio & Magnum
3) Horus & Metal Blanco vs Angel del Mal & Asesino Negro
4) Ángel de Oro & Ángel de Plata vs Euforia & Nosferatu
5) Máximo, Toscano, Volador Jr. vs Ray Mendoza Jr., Terrible, Texano Jr.

On the undercard, we haven’t seen Egipico here in a year, and perhaps that’s a relevos match? Main event should have some Maximo/Texano issues.

IWRG (SUN) 10/11 Arena Naucalpan
1) Imperial vs Extrano
2) Eragon & Star Boy vs Maldito Jr. & Samoa
3) Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II vs Fantasma de la Ópera & Gringo Loco
4) Bushi, Negro Navarro, Trauma I vs Avisman, Fantasma de la Ópera, Veneno
5) Chico Che, Exodia, Rigo vs Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro

Again, main event probably should be a title match, and maybe it will be in a week.

SuperLuchas also has the lineups for December Gudalajara shows. I usually don’t bother with lineups that far in advance, because it’s never worth taking lineups too seriously until the week before. These are a little extra notable because it’s their annual Lucha Libre Festival, GDL’s answer to the DF’s Expo. Last year, CMLL ran against the AAA show, but they’re contributing the Friday night show this year. (Main event is a multi-man cage match for a singles title. Dunno how that actually works. Also, since they still may run a loaded show that at ACG on Sunday.)

Saturday is the indy show (where it looks like a Coco will lose his mask), and Sunday is the show that we’d talked about being Sexi vs Fabi. In fact, it’s listed as Sexi & Billy vs Fabi & Aero. The rest of the show is filler stuff – it’s a full AAA show, but it looks more like a spot show than a TV taping, and not even close to a major show lineup. Main is Wagner/Parka vs Silver/Mesias in what looks like a relevos increible match, but there’s nothing of any consequence in the undercard. This is not the Guerra de Titanes show after all.

  1. They loaded up the other top two matches for Friday with the workers so I expect two good matches since they know how bad the main event will be. It’s not bad matchmaking since Warrior/Yujiro will be the focus and Strong Man just has to get inside and toss the other two Japanese guys around. Nobody is expecting it to be a regular match.

Dorada/Volador/Sombra (hopefully he’s okay) against the HdA should be SPECTACULAR! I can’t imagine what those six will come up with!

The Sunday show is actually Arena Mexico.

  2. Steele was a great gimmick. I remember going to ArMex in 1997, which had Santo vs. Felino in the main and a six-man with Atlantis, Steele, Rayo, and others I don’t remember, but Atlantis threw Steele’s mask into the audience just one row from me.

    Strongman is just odd.

  3. I’m watching AAA on Galavision. I’ve never seen this venue, and I’ll have to check Cubs archives to see what city and venue it’s from, but it looks like an ROH show. Funny to hear the commentary plugging the US timeslot, and plugging all the cities that have Galavision.

  4. Watching the Main event, I don’t know what’s better, The fact that Nikki has a Paris Hilton gimmick with a cat or Extreme Tiger’s entrance featuring a American Flag?

  5. I hope “Steele” has gotten himself in better shape than he was when he was working New Japan earlier this year.

  6. @Alfredo: That’s impossible. It takes at least 5 weeks for CMLL to convert it from their 8mm recording to BETA to VHS to DVD and then edit it for TV. I’ll double check though and send a smoke signal to Paco so he can confirm.

  7. AAA TV starting with the hardcore cage match that Konnan called an awful match even by AAA standards and yet made no mention of Decnis killing himself multiple times just to get noticed by the people in charge of this messed up company.

  8. First thing the new writers should work on: Why are people climbing to the top of the cage in a match where they clearly announced beforehand – “THERE WILL BE NO ESCAPES FROM THE CAGE”.

  9. @Rob: This match may be the worst idea ever. AAA seems to have made a lot of production changes this week, but I don’t feel capable of judging whether or not it looks better or worse based on this match.

  10. Joe Lider totally didn’t even try to make that power bomb through the table on Guapito safe. What a great guy. I assume this is leading to Guapito getting his revenge on Lider at some point. Oh it isn’t? Oh, okay.

  11. the opening graphics for this week’s Puebla show are awesome. Picture a dragon flying in and breathing fire on a cross. What better way to hype Mistico vs Liger.

  12. Odd news that won’t make anyone happy. We seem to have jumped from the opener to the semimain.

  13. @Rob: Opener first, then semimain.

The match wasn’t horrible, but nothing special. Probably benefited from my low expectations and the fact that I like everyone on team Mexico. Warrior almost didn’t make it to Yujiro on a dive (hit his head on the ropes while diving through), but noone got hurt. In the “things i never thought I’d see” category, Okumura scoring a pin on Atlantis.

  14. Not to alarm anyone, but Metro is in Mistico’s corner. How the hell does this keep happening?

  15. For a three match show, I’m not sure any of the matches got any additional airtime. The main might have gotten a few extra minutes, but msot of the time went to hyping the match. I’m not sure I even have a problem with that, but probably would have been worth having a nonstoryline match instead of the semimain then in order to make it stand out even more.

This was probably my favorite of Liger’s singles matches fromt his tour though. Wish they would have drawn better for it.
