6) Místico b Negro Casas [hair]

Notes not gotten to last night
– Arena Mexico got a make over, with new lighting and walkway.
– CMLL says UG, Bam Bam and Volador were all taken to the hospital. Volador had major problems with his gear, and looked hurt thru the match.
– Bam Bam did get taken out going for an Asai moonsault, but Electrico beating Pierrothito was clearly the planned finish. As it turns out, Electrico is the young guy they were using this show to showcase a little more – see next week’s lineup.
– Finish to the main event didn’t come off right, and Negro didn’t get all his hair shaved off.

And on to Heroes Inmortales – previews by LuchandoLibre and SuperLuchas.

Box Y Lucha has short profiles of Pierroth and Alda Moreno.

Estrella del Ring notes the sub 10% attendance and badly run aspects of the Perros show in Cuernavaca.

CMLL (TUE) 09/22 Arena Mexico
1) Principe & Súper Camaleón vs Camorra & Cholo
2) Lady Apache, Lluvia, Marcela vs La Nazi, La Seductora, Yezca
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Fabián el Gitano, Pegasso vs Hooligan, Nosferatu, Vangelis
4) Máscara Dorada, Sagrado, Valiente vs Hijo de Lizmark, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra vs Felino, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas

It’s a card. Next one is more interesting.

CMLL (FRI) 09/25 Arena Mexico
1) Flash, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo
2) Eléctrico vs Pierrothito [MEX LIGHT]
3) La Máscara, Toscano, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Texano Jr.
4) Ángel de Oro & Místico vs Blue Panther & Rey Cometa and Rouge & Shocker and Ángel de Plata & Héctor Garza and Atlantis & Camorra and Mr. Niebla & Tiger Kid and Averno & Pólvora and Semental & Yujiro [Gran Alternativa]
5) Último Guerrero vs Jushin Liger [CMLL HEAVY]

Packed show.

Being it’s Liger and it’s the heavyweight title in a promotion without many actual heavyweights, CMLL might actually have him win and disappear with it back to Mexico. UG is the 80/20 favorite, but still…

Following last year’s pattern, all GA novatos are first timers, which means they’re going really deep to fill this out.

Mistico is the favorite in any tournament he’s in, but there are some other interesting possibilities. I think I’m rooting for the Panther/Cometa team. The Angel brothers teaming with the sorta feuding tecnicos would make for an interesting match. Tiger Kid teaming with one Pesta Negra is a nice touch. Shocker being included is odd, and makes me think they just wrote this lineup out last week and didn’t correct it. Maybe Warrior will end up in his spot? Five matches and a tournament means these are all going to be super short.

This is Pierrothito’s first defense of the title and I’d be very surprised to see him lose it.

  1. The card for La Gran Alternativa looks like it could be awesome. One down, one to go, now CMLL needs to have the The Reyes del Aire torneo within the next few weeks.

  2. That’s quite a packed show, and just a week after the aniversary as well. No clear favorite among the youngsters to me, I haven’t seen enough of most of them to pick anyone really.

  3. “CMLL (TUE) 09/22 Arena Mexico”

Typical C3 show. Funny to see Camorra going from working with Cholo to working with Atlantis within the span of the 3 days.:)

Second time Euforia/Nosferatu have been split up lately. What’s up with that? Bigger plans for Euforia upcoming?

    ~ROCKIN!

Right from the opener it’s gonna be an unreal show.

I’m with Cubs in thinking that Pierrothito isn’t losing this one. Electrico should put up a fight though and it will be interesting to see how he fares on his own. He hasn’t even sold me enough to call him a top 5 tecnico in the mini’s division!

Not sure why Toscano/Sombra couldn’t be switched around to have some continuity from last night’s show but it’s not a big deal.

    GRAN ALTERNATIVA! YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

Fun looking teams although the big wild card is obviously Shocker/Rouge for two reasons:

    1) If Shocker doesn’t show, who replaces him? Is it someone important enough (La Sombra) to carry the team into the finals or someone who fits in with Rouge (Maximo) to just create a team who goes out early?

    2) Does CMLL have the initial confidence in Rouge after his extremely rough start?

I’m very happy to see Semental and Rey Cometa included! Camorra is a surprise b/c Artillero is RIGHT THERE.

    What I’d like to see:

    Mistico/Angel De Oro over Atlantis/Camorra

    Yujiro/Semental over Shocker/Rouge

Averno/Polvora over Hector Garza/Angel De Plata

Blue Panther/Rey Cometa over Mr. Niebla/Tiger Kid

    Mistico/Angel De Oro over Yujiro/Semental

    Averno/Polvora over Blue Panther/Rey Cometa

    Mistico/Angel De Oro over Averno/Polvora

That’d be AWESOME! However my pick to win is Rouge unless Shocker can’t show and the sub ends up being someone with no main event status (like Maximo or Fabian El Gitano). It’ll probably be Polvora in the finals against Rouge since you have to look at this from purely where they have been booked leading up to the show.

    Rouge/Polvora: Semi-main/tercera.

    Rey Cometa/Angel De Oro/Angel De Plata/Tiger Kid: Tercera/segunda.

    Camorra/Semental: Openers.

It’s very much like the 2007 Gran Alternativa in my mind.

As for the main event – going with Ultimo of course.

  4. Oh, I forgot my original thought…

I guess Guerrero Maya Jr. is a long-term project for CMLL since he is ideal for this tournament but I guess they are going to give him another 8 months – 1 year to improve before they can re-gimmick him and have him win.

  5. CMLL TV has:

    – Women from 9/4
    – Repeat of Heavy Metal, Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura b La Mascara, Metro, Sagrado from 6/8
    – Repeat of 5/15 Arena Mex main

    Strange things:

    1. Twice announcing the second match but not saying the name “Metro”.

    2. Heavily promoting Shocker.

    3. Heavily promoting Dos Caras Jr.

    4. Pre-taped segments, no live intro from last night.

Momentos started the show with two clips of the mini’s and nothing else new.

  6. Just a reminder to check out LATV tonight. I’m not able to see it now b/c I’m at a friends house with Direct, which does not carry subchannels. I wonder why WON thought LATV would get new footage?

  7. Easy explanation for that.

LATV put up a promo on youtube for their CMLL show. Some random person saw it, e-mailed Dave saying they’d be airing new footage as the promo said and Dave reported it without checking with anyone who would know (Cubs).

  8. @Rob: Not true that they aren’t airing anything from last night. Looks lik they are trying to get the entire opening dance number on throughout the show.

  9. That makes sense Rob.

LATV should be able to get the 52mx version of CMLL. Maybe CMLL won’t let them, which is stupid. LATV already has other MVS shows airing on both 52mx and LATV.

  10. Man what shitty editing on VDE. First Ultimo Gladiador shows up in a mask and it’s not explained. Then the final angle with Konnan, some crazy cat lady, I mean Esther Moreno shows up in the cage and she’s not even mentioned by name.

  11. The 23 steam is working good.

Watching this show reminds me how much more I like Coliseo than Arena Mexico.

  12. Matching outfits are awesome but not when you look exactly the same and wrestle exactly the same. I have no idea which is Oro and which is Plata. Announcers having the same problem.

  13. The first youtube video of the mascara vs. cabellera match between Negro Casas and Mistico can be found here:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/mistiquin7494

Note that the video is tilted to the side, so if anyone is going to watch this, they will have to save the flv video and then rotate it using some program. Does anyone know how to rotate videos?

  14. @Tim: I was thinking the same thing while watching the show. I wish they ran more meaningful matches at Coliseo.

@Rob: I’ll admit that I marked out for Hooligan. If he and Skandalo ever get a shot at the Coliseo tag titles I’ll be there and make sure I find a nice Hooligan mask before the show.

  15. OK, this can’t be a good sign. They are airing the same Lucha Libre Premier show that was on last week. I can’t believe this horrible woman’s match is on my TV again!

  16. @Alan: On the bright side, maybe they will get the point totals correct at the end this time.

I was actually impressed that they were running ads for it during the CMLL show this morning, but not so much anymore.

  17. Like I predicted from the start, AAA would struggle to provide weekly new content for Fox. AAA does a weekly taping for Televisa, and that’s all they will ever be able to do.

  18. @LLL That’s all they should care about. Fox sports meant nothing to CMLL and it’s not like AAA is going to be any different.

I’m watching ACM now and I still don’t get the Rudo/Tecnico structure on this show. One week Orientales are the rudos and tonight they are the tecnicos with Golden boy as Rudo? Good match though.

  19. C3 trios titles main was funner than I expected. Finish was strange since Garza was standing in the ring during the pinfalls even though he had already been eliminated. Isn’t that a DQ?

  20. AAA is airing the Tlalnepantla taping from what seems like ages ago. Opener with the Bizarros is not airing thankfully.

  21. MASCARITA DIVINA SPRINGBOARD DRAGON RANA TO THE FLOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    SPOT OF THE YEAR!

And since he’s just a Mexican midget you will never see a replay of it on AAA TV but we’ll see Sugi’s botched SFTD about 200 times.:P

Unbelievable how AAA manages to waste the talent of all their midgets. One thing that could set them apart and they totally ignore it.

BTW, in what is HOPEFULLY a good sign – the CMLL youtube page put up a video of the women’s match from the Anniversary. Hopefully the rest of the matches follow…

  22. Uh-oh, Noti AAA has Vampiro discussing his return to the ring.

Hogan/Flair in Australia or Vampiro/Konnan in Mexico – what’s sadder?

  23. God Sugi is such a fucking moron.

Let’s hope the Rouge match gets cut from Puebla! That semi-main looks awesome.

  24. Sugi a moron in a promotion that hires Extreme Tiger, Joe Lider and now THE ONE BILLY GUNN? I hope he comes in as SENOR ASS MAN

  25. @Alan: HUZZAH!

So does this make two weeks in a row on TV for Escorpion Negro? How is it possible in his first month in CMLL he has gotten more TV time than his entire run in AAA where he was part of one of the main stables?

  26. Televisa is so infuriating sometimes, like last night in the opener to AAA you get afew exchanges and it suddenly cuts to a hype video. I like to actually watch matches!
