Zorro takes Elegido’s place in the copa Pena, with Elegido being sucked into the hardcore cage match disaster area. No one knows why Decnnis is teaming with the tecnicos. Whatever happened the Guapito’s promotion, anyway? They haven’t done anything with that angle in months. Also, it just occured to me that they’re going to set up a cage and take down a cage during this show, where every match is getting a lot time. Remind me not to live blog this.
Sexy/Fabi has been made a bull terrier match, which they just did on TV, with the same exact seconds (Billy & Aero), so…that match did have it’s moments, but not enough that I needed to see it again.
Poder del Norte vs Fuerza Aerea will be better than the Psycho Clowns, so I think this is all a net impovment.

So, here’s the deal: this is the lineup posted on the elMartinete board, a fine group of drunks and miscreants. However, it’s the first post by the user who posted it, who also just registered their account today, and the names aren’t quite spelled right in cases. The lineup is about what we’d expect, but take it all with a grain of salt.

7) Dr. Wagner Jr. vs El Mesías [AAA HEAVY]
Every match on this show has a stip, as is the annual tradition.
No opponents are listed for the opener. It could be an Air Force team – none of them are wortwhile enough to make this lineup! – or the Dark Family members besides Ozz, or a new group. Or no one will care because the lights will be out and they’ll be glowing in the dark.
Match 2 is clearly the new MOTY.
I know, because it’s cruiserweights, they’ve got to a do a ladder match, but they probably should’ve held off on that until Alex returned with his cruiserweight belt, and then you can do the full on homage.
Sexi/Fabi is for Fabi’s Reina de Reinas title, though it could easily be mistaken for the entirety of a 2009 tournament.
Charly vs Chessman for hairs seems perilously close to an actual resolution of an AAA feud. Peciular.
Figure on Cibernetico getting to do the Mesias run of killing people and getting wins. In a better world, Marco wins and springboard (clotheslines) to the GdT title match, just to get a different title match sometime this year. In reality, Cibernetico’s probably next in line, again. Odds are the ? is Foreign Legion related, as they’re supposed to make an appearance here.
Mesias gets his title back? I guess it depends if they want to do Cibernetico vs Wagner or Mesias vs Cibernetico and they’ve sort of laid the groundwork for both.
Whatever happened to Zorro? Anyone remember they did a big angle around him at TripleMania? Okay, anyone who books AAA remember that?

“Whatever happened to Zorro? Anyone remember they did a big angle around him at TripleMania? Okay, anyone who books AAA remember that?” Only thing I have to say is ( future headline) ” El Zorro regreso a CMLL”
that question mark at the end of the gauntlet could be him?

3.- Los Gemelos Fantasticos/Angelico sobre Capitan Muerte/Blasfemia/Mr. America
2.- Dark Saint/Menfis sobre Rey Tempestad/Star Boy
1.- Keshin Black sobre Alan Extreme
Say what you will about CMLL but at least they don’t run with the same three people in the main event 3-4 shows running, variety can be a good thing, especially if it means getting Mesias and Cibernetico out of the main event slot.
@MPJ-DK: You’re one of the most intelligent people on this site. Your comment may not relate to the article, but it was a damm good point nonetheless, and I’m glad you said it.
Most if not all promotions have the same main eventers. Variety can hurt the business because it doesn’t separate the stars from the other guys. The business is built off stars. From time to time you might get Chessman(who main event Rey de Reyes if am not mistaken),Charly and others in the main event sometimes. Wagner,Mesias and Ciber are the top guys,so you have to push them.
@1997, Yes companies do have to revolve around stars, but that doesn’t mean they should be booking the same matches over and over. That can hurt the company. Look at WWE. They’re ratings are going down because we’re always seeing John Cena vs Randy Orton. You can only watch that so many times before you get sick of it.
In AAA the “stars” should not be the stars. They’re being forced down peoples throats, so that makes it worse.
@Daniel: What was your opinion of AAA from 2000 to 2003 when almost every main event featured the feud between Latin Lover and Perro Jr. against Hector Garza and Heavy Metal in some variation?
Speaking of stuff shoved down people’s throats. When will AAA finally end this Konnan/Legion Extranjera shit ? They’ve killed the dead horse on this angle, let it die !!!
@Rob, between 2000-2003 we were not seeing the same main event match every week. The focus was the war between AAA and LLL, not the same 4 wrestlers. Yes Latin Lover, Hector Garza, Heavey Metal, and Perro Jr. had a war going. And so did Cibernetico and La Parka, so did Zorro and the X-Team. You see there were many feuds within AAA and LLL that the main events took many forms and many combinations of wrestlers, not the same 3 or 4 wresters every week.
Besides back then Pena knew how to book wrestlers properly so that their strenghts would shine, and the fans decided who was a top star and who wasn’t. There wasn’t any of this non-sense about taking one particular guy and basically TELLING the fans that they should like him.
so charly and chessman are main eventing?
@CM93: That’s what they say on their listing. We’ll see.
I’m happy they got the local guys on the show. It will probably mean a lot to them. But that match will probably be a disaster since you can’t make out anything in those lights out matches and these guys will be killing themselves for nobody to see.
@thecubsfan: i hope they do.
the surprise wrestler in the gauntlet better not be konnan
So, does Koslov interfere in the ladder match or is he the sorpresa in the Pena cup?
Yes most companies have a set group of main eventers, usually it’s bigger than three guys though, which was my point – the fact that the WWE can run Orton/Cena 3-4 shows in a row is another reason why I’ve grown tired of them.
@Rob, actually in the lights out matches they turn on black lights, and the wrestlers wear yellow so the can glow in the dark. You’ll know who they are.
Looking at that cruiserweight ladder just reminded me…What happened to the Alas de Oro this year? Seriously, you’ve got friggin’ Sugi this year! That’s like having Pac on a PWG show & not booking him against El Generico.
Alas de Oro is airing on SoloDF (like the novato tourney) and on TDN
@Misionero de la Muerte: The Alas De Oro is the one thing in AAA that Konnan can’t be a part of so as noted – it’s been demoted to off AAA’s regular TV. Maybe it’s for the best b/c Konnan would surely have had Rain or Nikki Roxx enter it and win.
@Daniel: Thank you for explaining how a lights out match works. I’ve seen them all though and you can never see anything. They aren’t hard to follow when you have guys like Gronda, Elegido and the Exoticos involved b/c they don’t do anything but for high flyers it will be insanely hard to follow and I can’t even imagine how difficult spots with the ropes will be in the dark.
Is Nikki Roxx even still in AAA? She was just on TNA tonight.
@Rob, the ropes are yellow also, so they will be glowing bright enough for the wrestlers to see.
@Daniel: It’ll be a mess, you gotta trust me on this one Daniel.
I’ve seen the 2007 Glow in the dark match with Los Vipers, it’s odd but kinda cool. Not for the workrate fans or those looking for a breathtaking highspot, but kinda cool just for being so different. Ropes glowed, the edge of the ring glowed and highlights on the wrestlers. As concepts go it’s better than a blindfold match.
@Tim: TNA just needed someone for the tag tournament. It was a one time deal and she isn’t expected to be used again.
@Kyle: Incorrect. She will be used MANY times in her life.
Uhthankyou! *bows*
@Rob: Daaaaaaaayum.
Rob, it’s great that you took time out of your busy day of masturbating to the thoughts of being used by Negro Casas to post that.
Roxxi, that’s why we watch lucha libre in the first place. RIGHT GUYS? Guys?
“Roxxi”‘s three last posts
– this one up there
– the one where he comments on the Dragon Gate show just to make fun of Dr. Keith. I have no problem with occasionally making fun of Dr. Keith, it’s something I try to do when I talk to him, but not on the 3,000 post written at 3 AM.
– the one where he speculates on Ayako Hamada’s sexual preferences.
You’re failing to entertain me. C’mon!
Sorry. I’ll try to be more like Rob.
I will only make posts bitching about: Konnan, non-mexican wrestlers working in Mexico and how much I hate women, especially of the non-Mexican variety. Because no way women from the US or Canada are in the business for any other reason than to be sex toys for the wrestlers/booker. Ok?
@Kyle, I’m pretty sure TNA intends on keeping Roxxi more long term.
Joe Lider is funnier than Roxxi
@John G. No he’s not, Joe Lider is an annoying fuck.
I didn’t used to think so before but lately Roxxi has been looking sexy sexy. Especially now that she’s letting her hair grow out. Last night on Impact she actually had it done as opposed to the messed up look. Big improvement.
I love Melina:]
