08/29-30 Lucha Times

box Note I’m figuring Fox Sports if off; they’re not on the listings I found on the Fox site (assuming I’m looking at the right site.) The AAA show should debut either next week or the one after. Maybe AAA will tell us?

52MX: presumably the top 2 here now, so the set up to Negro/Mistico. If you have 52MX and just need help getting the video to the internet, please let us know.

AAA-US: Lucha Libre Expo show. Enjoy the Yakuza while they last!

—-

CMLL: 2 hours? top 3?

AAA-MEX: this time for sure: Mesias vs Wagner in a bull terrier match, Chessman & Cibernetico vs Manson & Marco

C3: Garza/Fantamsa/Mascara vs Avernos

Puebla: maybe no segunda? Funny that the Garza/UG title match won’t air unless they go back a week.

Monterrey: I’m going go out on a limb and predict Monterrey will air the Gran Prix from Tuesday. (It appeared to be the only match on Tuesday.)

CMLL wrestlers/arena stats

Cesar’s pointed out a few times how Hijo del Lizmark appears banned from appearing on Friday night show this year. That felt right, but I like to check those things. In celebration of Hijo del Lizmark not making his scheduled match last night, here’s some research.

People currently on CMLL’s roster who’ve not wrestled a Friday Arena Mexico show in 2009 (and had at least six matches)

Women
Mima Shimoda
La Seductora
Estrella Magica
Yezca
Zeuxis

Minis
Tzuki
Electrico
Bracito de Oro
Niño de Acero – hurt most of the year
Fantasy

Men
Fabián el Gitano – !!! – CMLL.com says he’s NOT in for Maximo on Friday, so maybe Ovaciones was just fantasy booking
Ultraman Jr. (done?)
Rayo Tapatío I
Rayo Tapatío II

If you add up all the matches everyone’s had this year in Arena Mexico, Arena Coliseo, Arena Puebla, and Arena Guadalajara, and then break it all back down by day and by building, the four with the lowest percentage of Friday Arena Mexico matches are:

Bronco III (8%: 1 of his 12 matches; most of his matches are Sunday Mex/Coliseo)
Cholo (7%: 1 of 14; majority on Tuesday)
Vangelis (6%: 2 of 33; plurality on Friday)
Hijo del Lizmark (5%; 2 of 37; most on Sunday Mex/Coliseo)

Other random stats (again, at least six matches)

Sombra de Plata is the only wrestler not to wrestle in Puebla or GDL. Though he appears to be out of CMLL now.

People who’ve wrestled more in GDL & Puebla (combined) than in Mexico City
– Zeuxis (86%, duh)
– Rouge (86%, also duh) – I’m skipping these two, they’re too new
– Tzuki (60%)
– Micltan (54%)
– Lady Apache (52%)
– Dragon Rojo Jr. (52%)
– Stuka Jr. (51%)
– Terrible (51%)

Most Percentage
Sunday Mex/Coliseo: Bronco (58%)
Sunday GDL: Mascara Dorada (24%)
Puebla: Tzuki (50%)
Tue Mex: Cholo (57%)
Tue GDL: Mictlan (26%)
Fri Mex: Villano V (59%)

Most Matches: Hector Garza (95, or 1 match every 2.5 days, just in the main 4 buildings alone.)

Tuesday Mexico results, Anniversary main to be announced tomorrow?

CMLL (TUE) 08/25 Arena Mexico [Cesar, ESTO, Record]
1) Delta & Diamante b Cholo & Zayco
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela b Amapola, Hiroka, Zeuxis
3) Mascara Dorada, Metro, Valiente b Euforia, Vangelis, Virus
4) Negro Casas, Terrible, Texano Jr. b Sagrado, Shocker, Toscano
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara DQ Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

In all time great instance of burying the lead, the last line of the ESTO recap mentions CMLL will be announcing (part of the) anniversary card on Thursday. I find that news somewhat more important than the Metro/Vangelis result. Ovaciones has a full page feature on Negro Casas, hint hint. Negro Casas says “la princesa de plata y oro” is not invincible and will lose if they face at the anniversary show. And he wants the IWGP belt, too.

DQ for the main event was for Terrible and Texano Jr. running in. This is an amazing rerun of two months ago. Maybe they’ll lose the trios title match again, but this time Mephisto will lose the NWA Welterweight Championship to Mascara.

Negro Casas replaced Lizmark Jr. These things happen. Cesar says Toscano tore a muscle in his left leg, which probably means this is the end of him for a while.

Dark Angel replaced Lluvia. Marcela got Zeuxis with a Michinoku Driver for the win.

In Guadalajara, Averno says Sunday’s match will NOT be a title match. Panther has to do more to be worth Averno’s time in a title match, says Averno. The scheduled trios match – Panther, Garza, Toscano vs Terrible, Texano, Averno remains the main event.

luchalibreaaa.com has a chat with Los Psycho Circus today at 5pm. I have no idea of any questions to ask them. AAA also Sugi San’s profile and looks back at Mini Perro Aguayo.

LuchandoLibre looks at the Gronda vs Gronda feud.

Kcidis looks at Mistico vs Negro Casas and Ultimo Dragon teaching Ohara another lesson.

Fuerza Guerrera, el Fantasma, and others visited a group home for children who’s parents are currently part of the legal system (either accused criminal or victims of accused criminals.)

LA Park is posting in all caps on the box y lucha board.

Tuesday previews, links

Ovaciones previews the new debut today. ESTO previews the new debut today. They are talking about different people. Ovaciones headlines on Seuxis (who just is a name in ESTO’s article), while ESTO talks up Diamante & Delta (who do get mentioned as new in Ovaciones.) Ovaciones mentions next week is the Tuesday Fan appreciation show, and teases Averno/Mephisto/Epshto getting a trios title shot (which would be a rematch of two months ago.) They also bill Friday’s Mictlan, Rouge, Fabian team as a new version of Los Strippers.

AAA’s lineup for Friday’s TV taping says the cage match is only loser leaves town, nothing about a #1 contender. There’s also no exotico listed in the opener; it should be Polvo.

Fuego en el Ring has interviews with Blue Panther about his title match next week, Milenio & Hair about their mask match (Milenio claims referee bias), Black Warrior (who hopes to face Yujiro sometime in the September for the hairs) and Sangre Azteca.

ExOnline has a long interview with Lourdes Grobet about her career and lucha photography.

Ras de Lona #60 has lots on Mistico in Japan, including an interview with Tiger Mask about how great Mistico is.

Segunda Caida checks out IWRG 08/06/09.

Luchas 2000 #484 has Wagner, Gronda I, Valiente and the festival of masks.

WrestlingObsever has their AAA recap.

Panther/Averno title match set in GDL, Mistico/Negro official for next Sunday

CMLL (SUN) 08/23 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Flyer b Nocturno
2) Meteoro & Virgo b Saturno & Thunder Boy
3) Angel del Mal & Rafaga b Astaroth & Magnum
4) Hierro & Milenio b Acertijo & Novato [losers advance]
5) Hierro b Milenio [mask]
6) Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca b Máximo, Rouge, Valiente
7) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr. b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Panther got Averno clean with an armbar, and challenged him to a shot at the NWA Middleweight championship. That’ll happen next week (which means the card I had is changing.) Sangre pinned Valiente for the semimain win, and challenged him to a mask vs mask match. That won’t be happening next week.

In the mask match, Hierro beat Novato, but Acertijo saved his team by beating by Hierro and Milenio. Hierro beat Milenio in the final. Milenio is Alejandro Anguiano Vargas, from Guadalajara, 10 years a wrestler.

Sunday Coliseo DF update: CMLL now has the Mistico/Negro IWGP Junior Heavyweight title match as official for next Sunday. No one tell New Japan. Also, I didn’t pick this up until now, but the lineup no longer lists the Sunday shows as airing on Fox Sports, just the 52MX show. Looking back, there was no Fox Sports last week either, so this past weekend’s episode was probably the last.

Mistico/Negro will surely air on 52MX, if anyone gets it. (If ever was a time to start putting it in a podcast feed like Ras de Lona…) We’ll have to watch and see if this means 1/2 as many feuds/big matches on Sunday shows, since they have half as many hours to fill from them. Have to suspect that it’ll just be the top two matches from the show that airs from now on, instead of getting a segunda from this show or Friday.

Negro beats Mistico in Coliseo, IWRG

CMLL (SUN) 08/23 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones]
1) Molotov & Trueno b Camorra & Semental
2) Nitro, Pólvora, Skándalo b Delta, Starman, Tigre Blanco
3) Amapola, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca b Estrella Magica, Lluvia, Marcela
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Mascara Dorada, Sagrado b Naito, Shigeo Okumura, Yujiro
5) Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero b Héctor Garza, La Máscara, Místico

Negro pinned Mistico clean again. This time, he wanted an IWGP Junior Heavyweight title shot. Ovaciones says it’ll happen next Sunday, assuming CMLL confirms it today. (CMLL did post the lineup for Sunday earlier this morning. It didn’t have the match, but there’s still time.) Meanwhile, Mistico tells Reforma that his goal for this title is to hold it longer (and successfully defend it more) than Juvi did. Low bar, but I guess you’ve got to start somewhere. Mistico’s interested in defending against Liger when he’s in town, though this interview seems to be from before this match was set up.

Starman replaced Astro Boy in the second match.

IWRG (SUN) 08/23 Arena Naucalpan [DJ Spectro]
1) Extrano b Dinamic Black
2) Blasfemia, Fantasma de la Ópera, Hijo del Signo b Imperial, Pendulo, Star Boy
3) Bushi, Chico Che, Jack DQ Arlequin Amarillo, Arlequin Rojo, Arlequin Verde
4) Oficial AK47 & Oficial Fierro DQ Trauma I & Trauma II
5) Dr. Cerebro, Sangre Chicana, Sangre Chicana Jr. b Mano Negra, Oficial 911, Ricky Cruz

Sangre Chicana snuck in a foul on Mano Negra. Traumas lost in straight falls, with Trauma I hurt on a dive and Trauma II accidentally dropkicking the referee. Jack was hurt the second fall of his match, but the Arlequins drew a DQ against Chico Che for that DQ.

AAA (SUN) 08/23 Arena San Juan Pantitlan [EdR]
1) Tony Cirio b Rey Neza, Rey Dragon, Rey Tribal, Espiral Negro, Golden Bull, Dr. Jeckills, Principe Zarack I, Fraile Maldito, El Pillo, Elementor, Esteta, Potro de Plata, Estrella del Futuro, Super Maquina, Principe Zarack II, Majestic, King Malta, El Duende, Maquina de la Muerte [cibernetico]
2) Cinthia Moreno & Esther Moreno b Fabi Apache & Mari Apache
3) Dizzy, Mini Oriental, Pimpinela Escarlata b Demente, Mini Cibernetico, Yuriko
4) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Cuervo, Espíritu, Ozz
5) El Mesías, La Parka Jr., Octagón b Chessman, Electro Shock, Groon XXX

Gronda I and Esther Moreno are already on AAA spot shows, though Esther might have already been scheduled here.

The latest on the Clowns: AAA may not have gotten the trademark rights to “Zombie Clown” and “Killer Clown”. I had actually considered this as a possibility last week, but I thought it to be too absurd to be possible. Regardless of what the answer is, if they just addressed the situation when the card went up, there’d be a lot less time on this. (Perhaps the person who put the card didn’t know, but then maybe they could’ve held off on the new days until they knew what was going on.)
