IWRG, Furia Guerrera, Rio Bravo

Note: Everyone but me has already figured out “Alex Koslov got kicked out of AAA, but he’ll just be part of Konnan’s Foreign Legion of outsiders.” That’s certainly the easiest way to get out of it.

Furia Guerrera passed away sometime recently. He was actually attacked back on 08/11, while in Mexico City recruiting wrestlers for shows on 09/04 and 09/05. A group of people mugged him, and stabbed him twice – once getting the lung, once near the heart. He was taken to a hospital, and it’s not clear to me if Furia passed away recently, or if the story just took a few weeks from getting out.

Furia was said to be the nephew of Fuerza Guerrera and Juvi’s cousin, though there was some thought the relationship might be a work with how little he originally appeared. He had one known match in Promo Azteca in ’96, 2 for AAA TV in 1998, and there are no records of him again until 2006. It’s possible he switched gimmicks, and I’m sure more will come out in the next few days. In the last couple of years, he’d turned up in Coliseo Coacalco and was in IWRG last October. The article mentions Furia as a boxing and lucha promoter, which hadn’t heard of before.

Rio Bravo seems have decided to stick with AAA, after rumors of his departure this weekend.

The annual CMLL minis party included Mascaria Dorada, Mini Olimpico, Bam Bam, Pequeno Universo 2000, Pequeno Black Warrior, Fire (!), Bracito de Oro, Ultimo Dragoncito, Nino de Acero, Pequeno Nitro, Electrico, and Virus, with chef Mini Mascara Ano 2000 providing seafood.

Record, when not allowing Rey Misterio to get himself in lots of trouble for unauthorized interviews, talked to “Strongman Jon”. CMLL has plenty of time to settle on a name, because he’s not starting until October. Which kinda makes you wonder why they revealed him in August. Shocker talks about his part in bringing in Strongman. Article tries to suggest he could be a surprise addition to the anniversary show, but Shocker and his father don’t think so much.

Column says Rey Misterio had no choice to use steroids, because he’s got to keep up with everyone else.

Estrella del Ring has video of Diana la Cazadora dancing. I thought this link would be clicked on more than the AULL results (Septulturero is the new heavyweight champ!)

Box Y Lucha #2937 has Negro Casas vs Mistico and Yujiro vs Black Warrior. Inside, Groon XXX says there should be only one Gronda, though the rest of us might like one less Gronda than that.

SuperLuchas #329 has SummerSlam and Super Crazy defending his X-Law title.

Wrestling Observer has their AAA recap.

  1. So did Tzuki no show the mini’s party or was he not invited? Plus, I think Jon Strongman’s arms are bigger than 95% of the CMLL roster. Should be interesting.

  2. Hey that unauthorized interview might make us one step closer to having Rey Jr. back where he belongs! I hope he does another.

Funny thing is only two or three years ago an interview like that would have gone completely unnoticed as Rey probably wanted. ESTO didn’t have a website and at most someone would have brought it up on a message board but it would have been largely ignored.

Anyways… I’m going to watch Diana dance.

  3. @Rob: I actually emailed the link to Bryan and Dave, and surely that’s where WWE saw it. I’m telling myself KrisZ or Steve would’ve (or already had) sent it so I don’t have “getting Misterio in trouble” on my soul.

  4. @thecubsfan: Remind me to send you a basket of candy if this ends up getting Rey fired.

Remind me to send you a basket with a bomb if this ends up getting Rey fired only for him to sign a lucrative deal with TNA.

  5. @thecubsfan: I think you were the only one who sent this news to them. This is going to end up bad for the Cubs. j/k

Seriously though, I wouldn’t worry too much about it since someone would have seen it in your post and had you not sent it to them via email, someone else would have.

Rey made a mistake. I don’t think he realized that media in Mexico isn’t what it was in the past or even going back 5 or 10 years ago. If it were 1999, he would have gotten away with it.

  6. And that Misterio story is EVERYWHERE. I was tooling around the different regions of Mexico and it’s lead story news in papers that rarely cover lucha. I didn’t need to hip the WON crew to it since you beat me to it career killer.

You can believe that if Rey gets fired which won’t happen, he would be in TNA in a second.

  7. Diana dancing: Sexy!!

Rey Misterio: well we all know he is dropping the title to Dolph Ziggler, and I’m hoping to he leaves WWE for Mexico. But you know Angle will try to get him into TNA to set up Rey Vs. Samoa Joe for the X Division Title.

  8. @KrisZ: Both that story, and the results from last Friday night were everywhere this weekend. I don’t know how that happened but it was weird.

  10. @furi guerrera: Translation…

He claims he is the real Furia Guerrera who is related to Fuerza Guerrera. The Furia Guerrera who passed away was a local wrestler in Campeche, not the one everyone thought it was. He says he is retired now and sends his condolences to the Furia Guerrera who passed away.

  11. @Rob: The guy who passed away was a local wrestler/promoter out of Campeche. The Furia Guerrera who posted says he was previously retired, but he is NOW wrestling again.

  12. @Alfredo: As usual I got it 90% right!

I wonder if this Furia Guerrera knows what happened to FLYING since they worked together on AAA TV in his only appearence.
