Negro & Mistico agree to apuesta match, Tiger Mask IV, Puebla

CMLL (FRI) 08/21 Arena Mexico [superluchas, Cesar, Ovaciones]
1) Principe & Sensei b Cholo & Zayco
2) Ángel Azteca, Guerrero Maya Jr., Starman b Dr. X, Pólvora, Tiger Kid
3) Lady Apache b Hiroka [lightning]
4) Máximo, Metro, Valiente b Euforia, Misterioso II, Nosferatu
5) Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Yujiro DQ Atlantis, Black Warrior, Último Guerrero
6) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Místico b Felino, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas

Negro escaped La Mistica and got Mistico in a casita for a win. Mistico challenged Negro to a hair match, and Negro accepted. No date is specifically mentioned, but everyone knows it’s the anniversary main. Main only went about 8 minutes.

In an reverse of last week, Team No Limit/V5 won in straight falls. Rudos took the first fall clean, and the second fall when Warrior fouled Yujiro. That match is coming.

Cesar says Maximo came to the ring wearing (his father’s) Brazo de Plata’s mask. Given that he was just using BoxY Lucha to ask for a job back there, that sure seems like a signal he’ll be back soon.

SuperLuchas and Ovaciones say fans threw money in the ring for the lightning match. Cesar says it was good, but they’ve done better, and the second match was the best on the show

TDN aired the opener and the lighting match.

Complete Verano de Escandalo results one post down.

Rotativo has an interview with Tiger Mask IV. He vows to be a professional and have no problem teaming up with Mistico today on the DragonMania show (his only match in, as far as we know), but would like a rematch for the IWGP Junior championship in Mexico.

CMLL (MON) 08/24 Arena Puebla
1) Lestat & SWAT vs Policeman & Siki Ozama Jr.
2) Sensei, Starman, Tigre Blanco vs Apocalipsis, Inquisidor, Pólvora
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata vs Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro
4) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
5) La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Mephisto, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Trios champs versus Pesta Negra. With the Puebla/CMLL Minis war over, the minis are out of here and the locals are reduced to make room for the novatos.

No DF lineups yet. I’m going grab some brunch and check back.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 08/25 Arena Mexico
1) Delta & Diamante vs Cholo & Zayco
2) Lady Apache, Lluvia, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Zeuxis
3) Mascara Dorada, Metro, Valiente vs Euforia, Vangelis, Virus
4) Sagrado, Shocker, Toscano vs Hijo de Lizmark, Terrible, Texano Jr.
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Trios champs teaming up here as well.

Zeuxis makes her DF debut. She’s been working as a tecnica in GDL. Diamante debuts here too.

CMLL actually lists this as 09/01, but doesn’t say anything about skipping a week. Assuming typo.

CMLL (FRI) 08/28 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Molotov vs Camorra & Tiger Kid
2) Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Calígula [lightning]
3) Flash, Pegasso, Stuka Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo
4) Máximo, Mictlán, Rouge vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Black Warrior, Blue Panther, Último Guerrero vs Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Yujiro
6) La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Felino, Mr. Niebla

They follow up the big challenge by not having Negro Casas on the card. Also, the Rouge/Micltan debut makes their debut on the fourth match. Surely they’ll show they’ve earned that spot. Guerrero Maya & Caligula could be good.

  1. You made me hungry.

I noticed on superluchas that the matches were very short. I’ll guess this is because CMLL knows they have a one-hour slot today, and wanted to adjusted accordingly.

  2. “Máximo, Mictlán, Rouge vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca” Poor rudos .:( They have to work with a shithead (Mictlan)& a possible future shithead (Rouge). Why not just replace those two w/ Valiente, La Mascara, Hijo del Fantasma, Rey Cometa (pick one).

  3. Rouge is really moving up fast.

Now more than ever, I am convinced that CMLL should do more one fall matches. After watching yesterday’s television and seeing the times on superluchas, it’s clear that’s what they need to do.

2/3 falls means too many “finshes” on each card, and that’s not always good. The finishers lose their impact.

  4. Not sure why you keep making a big deal about the times. Go search the results archive on SuperLuchas and you’ll see these times are no different than any times over the past year. Main event was super short but there have been even shorter ones before + the third fall went longer than the 0:53 listed.

  5. @Rob: Probably b/c the issue of “psychology”, finishers, and other things have been mentioned again.

You’re right. I watch expecting a 0:53 third fall when watching.

  6. CMLL HD has the Lady Apache/Hiroka vid up for those of you craving to see either lady up close in HD.

  7. Sounds like AAA aired today, or is airing right now. Not sure which show though. Would suck if that Puebla show with the awesome opener never saw the light of day.

  8. @Rob: Zacapuaxtla taping is airing. Looks like it is getting two hours since it started at 4:00. But, it also seems like they are airing everything since the opener and Fabi vs Sexi have already aired and now we are on to Kozlov/Sugi vs Rocky/Jack.

  9. The proxima semana preview was for the Tehuacan taping. This would have made more sense this week since they do the angle relating to the TV situation, but oh well. If they break Verano up into two shows, they are three weeks ahead right now.

  10. Puebla opens with low lights of Tzuki from last week. I don’t think I ever responded to Rob’s theory on Tzuki’s condition, but I was a little embarrassed that I didn’t notice. I was willing to blame it on pain, but that looks a little naive in hindsight. The zoom in on Tzuki’s mask being lifted slightly as he was attended to at ringside, exposing a bleeding nose. Is this an indication he was on something worse or did he break his nose on the fall out of the ring?

On to more important things, the first match is Tapatios vs Super Comando and Artillero.

  11. @Alan: They could skip Techuacan and just ignore the silly deal with the announcers. Not much happened on that taping anyhow.

Any Puebla news? Entire Friday show or some of Monday + the mini’s cage from Friday?

  12. Oof, that’s some frightening timing there.

The first thing that really put up alarm bells for me was that Tzuki came out w/ no cape and not jogging like he always does. He just sorta stumbled to ringside and then it was all downhill. The bump… well… a bump is something you need to pull off yourself… the FALL he took out of the ring was pretty brutal and face-first so I could easily see that bloodying his nose.

SuperLuchas even said in the new issue that Tzuki showed up in absolutely no condition to perform. I wonder if this is the last straw since it was a very public incident rather than him just not showing like usual and CMLL may just cut ties with him.

  13. Women were up next so I think it is all of the Fan Appreciation show. Maybe they skip the semimain to give the cage match enough time?

  14. Those cage matches don’t need much time, do they? 5 minutes of brawling and then everyone runs out within minutes.

  15. highlight of the night from my perspective: Dorada diving off the top of the cage while still wearing his zebra striped entrance gear.

La Sambra hit his head pretty good on the ring apron doing a tornillo in the semimain. He got up to catch a Volador dive though, so must’ve been fine.

Sadly, the crowd didn’t look as good tonight as it had the past couple of weeks.
