Mexico, GDL, arrest in murders, Diamante to CMLL

Quiet day. Not much going in Mexico.

UFFFF! (ovaciones)
UFFFF! (ovaciones)

No, actually, I’m taping the game, so I’ll be ignoring parts of the internet after 3. Ovaciones has bumped it’s usual Tuesday Mexico coverage in place of tons of World Cup Qualifying coverage (pretty sure they don’t have two page fold outs on the game not involving the US where I live), but that doesn’t mean no lucha. I urge you to check out Dr. Wagner vs Marco Corleone in Estadio Azteca, a 3 page comic.

CMLL (TUE) 08/11 Arena Mexico [ESTO]
1) Delta & Sensei b Calígula & Méssala
2) Dark Angel, Estrella Magica, Marcela b Amapola, Hiroka, Yezca
3) Euforia, Nosferatu, Vangelis b Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Metro
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Mascara Dorada b Averno, Mephisto, Texano Jr.
5) Felino, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas b Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr.

Negro stole Volador’s mask and pinned him without being caught. ESTO doesn’t actually list the third match, but that seems to be the finish based on context.

CMLL (TUE) 08/11 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Hierro & Meteoro b Katana & Relampago Azul
2) Drago & Infierno b Magnum & Metatron
3) Gallo DQ Leon Blanco
4) Mictlán & Stuka Jr. b Ephesto & Misterioso II
5) Hijo de Lizmark & Terrible b Sagrado & Shocker

Lizmark got the pin on Sagrado. Micltan pinned Misterioso, so he’ll get a title shot next week. Gallo got away with a foul on Leon, Leon did not get on Gallo.

(Via SuperLuchas) The second woman in the Parkita/Espectrio murder case has been arrested in Hidalgo. She’s saying the whole thing was that other woman’s idea. Which is why she ran to Hidalgo, I guess.

(Via LMDLL) Nuevo Laredo wrestler Principe Diamante traveled to Mexico City to try out for AAA. He’s worked dark matches on their TV tapings before. Once he got to DF, he ran into some wrestlers, and they told him he should try out to make CMLL instead. Diamante was convinced, tried out, impressed Satanico and other trainers, and was offered a spot. (This must’ve happened months ago, because he hasn’t been seen since April in his usual places.) Principe Diamante – who will now go as ‘Diamante’ – says he’ll debut in Puebla next Monday.

Perro and LA Park headline a show in Tijuana next Friday. Where did they hold the press conference? Applebees. Press tried to talk Park (only one there) into making it hair/mask. Park said he’d need more money, but perhaps it could happen in Tijuana. It seems like they’re multiple promotions are starting to run shows in TJ, which I hope is a sign of some progress there.

Estrellas has an interview with Hijo del Santo, Celestial and Canelo Casas (Jr.) Casas says Heavy Metal is his uncle. That family sure has a lot of nephews wrestling, and yet no sons. Also, an interview with Diluvio Negro I, about his past mask wins and his upcoming cage match in Arena Solidardad.

LuchandoLibre didn’t like how Plata lost his mask in such an undignified way. This is another reason that Ras de Lona segment bugged me; it was pretty explicitly “hey, remember how Oro died? Well, now his brother is going to lose his mask – BUY TICKETS NOW.” Doesn’t reflect well on anyone involved.

  1. “Micltan pinned Misterioso, so he’ll get a title shot next week” NOOOOO, nobody takes a title, away from Misterioso II especially a shithead like Mictlan. Hopefully Misterioso destroys Mictlan, & that shithead falls at the feet of EL REY de YOGHURT!!! On a brighter note, Principe Diamante in CMLL! I’m still hoping for Mini Laredo Kid to debut in CMLL as Peq. Valiente.

  2. It’s impossible to explain how upside down the Lucha Libre world is to me right now with the new of Principe Diamante coming to CMLL. Ever since I became a Lucha Libre fan in 1995 – I never thought they day would come when CMLL would actually be able to field a trio ala the Space Cadets, i.e. high flyers in wacky colorful outfits. CMLL now has Rey Cometa, Pegasso and Diamante presumably as a regular trio. It’s really mind-blowing to someone who loved the original Cadets and figured they would only exist within Pena’s world. AAA still has their own Cadets-esque group with Aero Star, Super Fly, Laredo Kid and Atomic Boy but they rarely team or are allowed to go all out together.

The obvious next step is to pray CMLL regimmicks some undercarders to form their own Rudos De La Galaxia/Vipers style group, i.e. rudos that can fly and have BEYOND OUTRAGEOUS COLORFUL OUTFITS! If anyone from CMLL is reading this – I can provide awesome names!

This news almost makes up for Rouge. ALMOST!

In other good news from today – TVC cameras will be in Puebla on Friday. Last time they taped the Friday show they aired it 9 days in place of the following Monday’s taping so either:
    – this coming Monday is not being taped
    – just the cage match is being taped for 3ra Caida which has shown full matches in the past
    – it will get it’s own special airing ala those UWE shows

    Let’s go #2 or #3!

Oh there is more good news actually! WarriorsX2000 is uploading this week’s IWRG to youtube. He’s half done from what I can tell. And as long as I’m mentioning youtube:

    – lomejordelalucha has been putting up highlights of various ACM shows lately. All of them are awesome!

    – CMLL seems to have an ‘official’ youtube site up @ VideosOficialesCMLL. The latest video is actually really awesome and takes you around Arena Mexico + has HD close-up footage. So whoever is shooting this stuff works @ ringside. HMMM. Also you can watch the announcers practice their lines and do the show open.

  3. Something that will surely bring Rob back to earth, I’m pretty sure Tercera Caida announced yesterday that they would be airing Sandman/PARK next week.

  4. @Alan: Really? I’m surprised they would let them show it for free and not try to make some money selling the entire show in the SuperLuchas e-store or at the very least get an entire 2 hour spot dedicated to their event.

  5. @Rob: That was the way I understood it, but again, my Spanish is awful. They showed highlights of the rest of the show, but very little of the main with no finish. Pretty sure they said they were showing it next week.

  6. @Alan: I believe you, I’m just surprised they are doing it that way. I actually tried to broker a deal back in the day to get all the XLAW shows distributed to the general public and it got nowhere b/c of unreasonable demands so it’s kinda ironic that now the show (or the biggest part of it at least) is being given away for free.

BTW, Mistico retained his title over Averno on Monday in Puebla and I guess immediatly flew out to Japan afterwards. Talk about a busy schedule. He arrives back in Mexico on the night of the 15th, I assume takes a day off to rest but it’s Sunday so he could very well just do 3 shows and then on Monday he appears to be double booked for a show in Puebla and Nuevo Laredo. The Puebla listing may be an error though.

  7. @Rob: Turns out I was wrong here. They were saving highlights of Sandman/PARK match for this week, but didn’t show the whole thing.
