Infierno en el Ring Discussion (Live Results?)

Feel free to comment about the show in the comments. Not bothering with cover it live – we’ll see if WordPress can handle the traffic! I’ll be updating here, maybe in the comments, maybe on twitter, maybe still distracted by this 2-2 game. Edit: Spoke too soon.

As of 9, radio was still doing soccer coverage. May be a while.

Pachuca won 3-1 over Queretaro. Now you know.

There’s no way we’re getting results for the opener. I notice SuperLuchas isn’t bothering with live results! This will allow me to catch up on the all important Alexa rankings. (Do you think they’d do live results for X-LAW?)

9:26: Are they on? As soon as they get the introductions done, yes

9:34: Semimain is on. Or at least introductions are on. No idea on the first two matches.

3) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Ultimo Guerrero
Fall 1: tecnicos
Fall 2: tecncios – rudos Mistica on UG, rudos yank Mistico’s mask. Thought it was a DQ, but apparently not? They’re still wrestling, you see. Or hear. Whatever.

Fall 2: rudos – Mistica on UG, but UG tosses his mask off to draw the DQ.
Fall 3: tecnicos by DQ, Mistico doing the mask yank fake.

Plenty of time to set up that cage.

Atlantis chats with the announcers. I’m going to go make some popcorn.

10:00 Entrances going on for the main event…

4) Shocker vs Hector Garza, Toscano, Negro Casas, Black Warrior, Terrible, Texano Jr., Naito, Yujiro, Shigeo Okumura, Blue Panther, Maximo, Ray Mendoza Jr., Heavy Metal, Mictlan [cage, hair]

Escapes:

1) Mictlan
2) Heavy Metal – dived out of the cage onto Mictlan
3) Blue Panther
4) Okumura
5) Terrible
6) Maximo
7) Shocker
8) Texano
COMMERCIAL BREAK.
?) Ray Mendoza Jr.
?) Negro Casas
– Garza and Warrior both do dives instead of leaving.
11) Hector Garza
12) Black Warrior (!)
13) Yujiro

Final is Toscano vs Naito. For real. Crowd is about as thrilled as you’d expect.

Naito beats Toscano with a Tiger Suplex. I swear, the call was like “uno, dos…tres?” If you’re going to have the final two be THAT final two, that’s actually the right finish.

Earlier

1) Flash, Metalico, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Skandalo, Virus
2) Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara, Sagrado vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

  1. The Toronto Blue Jays announced they have traded Roy Halladay to any time in baseball (Japan league included) in exchange for the rights to not ever speak of this show again.

  2. I guess they could run the show on 10/02, and they have gone into October, but 09/25 makes more sense.

  3. 9/18 seems like the perfect date though. Maybe it’s one of those “the official show is on 9/18 but we’re celebrating the Anniversary for 3 weeks straight” deals and there will be a follow-up big show like Corleone vs Liz Jr. last week. Would be a good time for the Japanese duo to lose their hair since they obviously aren’t main eventing the September show unless CMLL has a death wish. (i.e. I’ll kill them)

  4. Crazy thought: tape your introductions before the show, so you’re not competing with ring introductions going on before you.

  5. We can come up with a drinking game for the main event.

    – Take a sip if Black Warrior does his pose.

    – Take a drink if someone decides to climb out of the cage before the standard 6 or 7 minutes of brawling takes place even though the rules clearly state nobody can escape for 6 or 7 minutes and yet SOMEONE TRIES THAT EVERY FUCKING TIME AND ACTS SHOCKED THAT THEY HAVE TO RE-ENTER THE FUCKING CAGE!

    – Chug if the announcers can properly pronounce both Yujiro and Naito.

    – Drink until you die of alcohol poisoning if Mendoza Jr. is the one who does the cage dive.

  6. @ Rob: I’m not sure how safe it is for me to do a drinking game at work.

How odd is it for CMLL to run a “big show” with just four matches?

And El Mucha Crema’s ring intros are awesome.

  7. Los Terroristas Del Aire? That’s an odd nickname for a trio of tecnicos. The description of their masks sounds pretty cool.

  8. Ultimo Guerrero tosses his mask off as Mistico has him in La Mistica, ref thinks Mistico did it, rudos win segunda caida via DQ.

  9. Role reversal in the third fall. Tecnicos win the match.

One of the radio commentators said, “lastima que haya terminado tan pronto”, i.e “What a shame it ended so quick.” To back up Cubs’ point, PLENTY OF TIME to set up the cage.

  10. Rudos want a rematch via the post-match radio interview with Atlantis. When asked if what the tecnicos did in the third fall was eye for an eye, Atlantis didn’t feel this at all. He felt the tecnicos weren’t really up to the task of facing them tonight. Atlantis concludes the interview by congratulating the children for having their summer vacation.

The cage match is “supposed” to air on Sky Channel 517, but the radio team is encouraging their listeners to stay tuned with them if they so desire.

  11. What time does the Mexico City Metro cut off this evening? Odds are this ends before the Metro curfew.

And now, the ring introductions for the rudos of our “Main Event.”

  12. Ten minutes in the cage before anyone can get out.

“Toscano como es costumbre perdiendo el tiempo.” That made me laugh.

  13. Radio commentators seem to think the match is boring. Mictlan leaves the cage.

  14. Heavy Metal is safe, having done a dive out of the cage onto Mictlan.

    Blue Panther escapes.

  15. Announcers think this is the Anniversary show from 2007 b/c they are referencing Panther not being able to escape and having to make Lizmark Jr. give up “last year”.
