Mesias vs Wagner

I may be AFK today. We’ll see. Go check out Dr. Lucha and Vandall Drummond on F4.

Most of TripleMania match outcomes appear to fit in to one of two categories

(seemingly) Obvious Outcomes:
– Aerostar, Laredo Kid, Super Fly vs Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown
– Charly Manson, Rocky Romero, X-Pac vs Cuervo, Ozz, Zorro
– Latin Lover & Marco Corleone vs Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario [AAA TAG] – or at least that’s what taping said to me
– El Hijo del Santo, Jack Evans, La Parka Jr., Octagon, Vampiro vs Chessman, Electro Shock, Kenzo Suzuki, Silver King, Teddy Hart [cage, control of AAA]

Meaningless Outcomes
– Fabi Apache, Elegido, Octagoncito, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Billy Boy, Mini Abismo Negro, Polvo de Esterllas, Sexy Star – note Elegido has snuck back onto the card in Apache’s spot.
– Alex Koslov vs Alan Stone, Crazy Boy, Extreme Tiger [AAA CRUISER, hardcore] – haven’t even seen Alex win the belt yet, can’t be too concerned about him losing it.

The exception is the big one: I have no idea who’s winning Mesias and Dr. Wagner. I know it’ll be with screwnewss, because it has to be to appease everyone, but I don’t know who ends up with getting their arm raised.

Wagner’s confused status with AAA plays a part in this. I feel like I’ve read much more about this than I’ve actually cared to read at this point, and the only think I’ve defintely figured out is that Dr. Wagner will tell the story the people he’s with want to hear. If he’s with AAA, he’s just moments away from signing that exclusive deal. If he’s on his own, he wouldn’t even consider giving AAA exclusivity. At this point, there’s a definte possiblity it’s become a smokescreen to create more of a mystery, though AAA’s usually not this good about keeping those stories straight.

AAA’s pretty clear on it’s side: they’re not going to put a title on a guy who’s not an AAA guy. They surely see some great possibilities with Wagner as champion, but they also see them with Mesias as champion and there’s gotta be less headaches that way.

The only tell of the finish I’ve picked up is AAA’s subtle switch in this match. The intial promos were focused on belt versus belt, but AAA is only listing it’s championship as on the line on Saturday. That seems to hint at Mesias keeping his title (with something saving face for Wagner), and perhaps Wagner will get his win back later on while defending his title.

Totally not confident about this pick at all. What do you think?

06/21 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Lineup (50th Anniversary)

CMLL (SUN) 06/21 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Metalico & Tigre Blanco vs Caligula & Messala
2) Estrella Magica, Lady Apache, Sahori vs Amapola, Crazy Star, Magnifica
3) Mascara Dorada, Metro, Valiente vs Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
4) Hector Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, Mistico vs Naito, Negro Casas, Yujiro
5) La Sombra & Volador Jr. vs Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero [CMLL TAG]

CMLL put up the lineup this afternoon, though they actually forgot to list the date. Small detail. Card seems okay, but it’s not Mistico vs Felino in a mask match in terms of importance.

Virus & Mascara Dorada’s title match seems to be missing for the time being. Maybe they forgot, maybe they’re saving it for another day.

Notes on the Universal Tournament, Wagner, Pierroth

The 8 champions in this week’s CMLL Universal Tournament block posed for a group photo and discuessed their chances. Hopefully that photo turns up larger somewhere. (Hmm, kinda like the box y lucha one. Notimex has a lot more quote. Volador Jr. is the only bold enough to predict a win.

Atlantis also talked about his “Atlantis al rescate” movie, which will air before Friday’s lucha show. A second movie is supposed to be completed by the end of the month.

WagnerMania posts photos from the show in Torreon on Friday. Interesting to see that the cage match was actually using a MMA cage. Wagner did a promo for the website saying he’s not exclusive to AAA.

Mistico is celebrating his fifth anniversary of wrestling with walking and a special mass. That’s some party!

AAA looks back at the history of Cien Caras in AAA.

Latest commission update: Fantasma really wants to work with AAA to settle all of this, but Konnan needs to come to his office to make this work. Silver King is cleared to wrestle as long as he doesn’t wear his mask. No mention of Jack, so perhpas he’s settled too.

In July, Mistico, Dos, UG and Shocker will appear on lottery cards. The same article says the GDL Anniversary main event on 06/21 will be Volador & Sombra vs Ultimo & Atlantis for the tag titles, which was supposed to be the main event for the canceled show last April.

Proyeccion Luchistica talks to Veneno & Ricky Cruz about Pierroth. Veneno says Pierroth is conscious and lucid, but still has issues speaking. Fuego en el Ring also talks to La Nazi about Pierroth when talking about her career.

LuchandoLibre posts video of the EAW show. Box Y Lucha has it’s own recap of the show.

Konnan is headed to Panama for a show on July 4th.

LuchaWorld has Robert on 02/24/08 & 03/02/08 GDL and a lot of Monterery, plus KrisZ’s news update.

Ras de Lona includes Magadan massaging Monito around the 20 minute mark. Also, they edit the first block of the universal tournament into something dramatic and exciting. It’s magic.

Luchas 2000 473 has 3/5s of the team to save AAA.

CMLL CAN52 #178 (04/18)

taped 04/11

It occurred to me that I hadn’t done the show with Rosa/Marcela, and as one of the five people who might care, I ought to track it down.

Rosa Negra vs Marcela in a mask vs hair match (and part 2): And, on second thought, I didn’t really need to. I guess it actually was worth knowing this match wasn’t anything special. Better than most Good Women Trying To Carry A Bad Women To A Decent Match (or any of Leono’s big matches), but not what the actual good match I thought it could be.

Not totally sure it was due to the injuries, because Rosa was kinda of exposed as a good trios wrestler who didn’t have much offense to carry a beatdown in a singles match. (Maybe if they gave her more than one singles match, they could’ve worked on fixing that.) Still, Rosa’s injury seemed to end the match minutes early, which is a shame, and hopefully they’ll get another try at this someday. I’m still not sure what the actual deal with Marcela’s injury; if it was as bad as they were making it out, then it was really odd for Rosa to work the back for the rest of the match, but Marcela was in clear pain either way. The missed dive looked planned, but Marcela just landed a little worse than expected.

Dos Caras Jr. ©, Maximo, Shocker vs Atlantis, Lizmark JR., Ultimo Guerrero © – just Dos working as a rudo while finishing out his tecnico obligations. Only good part was Dos trying to suck up to the rudos and getting beat for it.

06/20 AAA TV Lineup (Orizaba)

AAA TV (SAT) 06/20 Plaza de Toros la Concordia de Orizaba [KrisZ]
1) Crazy Boy, Extreme Tiger, Ultimo Gladiador vs Decnnis, Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario
2) Aerostar, Fabi Apache, Mari Apache vs Billy Boy, Cinthia Moreno, Sexy Star
3) Jack Evans vs Teddy Hart
4) La Parka Jr., Latin Lover, Marco Corleone vs Chessman, Electro Shock, Oriental
5) El Mesias vs Dr. Wagner Jr.

2009 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#894)
Mexico: 06/28
US: 07/18

– Mesias/Wagner seems to be ongoing.
– Oriental in the semimain!
– expecting roughly 5000000 moves in Jack/Teddy
– the entire woman’s division in one match? (No, I dunno where Tiffany is)
– Is Tiger a tecnico now? If he doesn’t turn on his teammates, he sort of has to be.

I think I can read into one thing or two about how TripleMania is going to end, but you could mostly have this show take place before TripleMania without anything changing. (Probably wouldn’t do Wagner/Mesias before TripleMania, but then they kinda did.)

Projected Air Date (#892)

The theme of the night was referee incompetence. Okay, that happens a lot, but this time they were going some place with it.

El Brazo worked as ref for the opener, and missed an Abismo foul on Octagoncito. La Parkita argued it, and was beat up by Brazo, Guapito, and the Mini Vipers. Parkita was a sub for Mascara Sagrada, and was not among the minis when they all joined Los Chihuahueños del Mal, and Guapito declared he’d never be invited in the promotion after that.

In the second mach, Piero missed Billy give Aerostar a martinete. Aerostar was taken out, and 3 rudos beat 2 tecnicos.

Psycho Circus were more psycho than usual, ripping up Laredo and Super Crazy’s Crazy Boy’s mask. The beating continued after the pinfall, Tropicasas teased a DQ, and the clowns beat him up too. Piero ran out for what looked to be the (incredibly anti-climatic) end to the winning streak, but Hijo de Tirantes cut him off and declared the Psycho Circus the winners.

Hijo de Tirantes and Silver King helped the Legion win the semimain.

The billed teams broke down, as they usually do in relevos matches. Mesias was dumped, and Konnan & Silver King tried to pin Wagner, but the count was broken up by Joaquin Roldan. Having a whole show ruined by bad refereing is one thing, but having it cost the promotion at TripleMania is another. Roldan introduced a masked Cien Caras as the special referee for the TripleMania cage match. Konnan suspected it was a fake (or maybe a Jr.) and demanded the masked man unmask. It was Cien Caras underneath, surprise.

Next show is TripleMania. Next TV taping is not TripleMania, it’s a week from Wednesday in Ecatepec. Which reminds me that Kris had the Orizaba lineup and I spaced on putting it up. I guess that’s next.
