AAA WAGNER (SAT) 06/27 Estadio Revolulcion de Torreon, Coahuila [WagnerMania]
1) Oso Negro & Psycho b Dorado Jr. & Makina 27
2) Arana del Futuro, Gran Jefe I, Sexy Francis b El Dorado, Emperador Azteca, Sexy Piscis
3) Chamuco Trevino & Conflictus CO Espanto V & Stuka I [Relevos Increíbles ]
4) May Flowers & Polvo de Esterllas b Aerostar & Super Fly
5) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b Alex Koslov, Charly Manson, El Elegido
6) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Konnan DQ Mesias & Silver King

Konnan refused to wrestle in the main event. Psycho Clown, seconding Konnan for no clear reason, unmasked Wagner for the DQ. Post match mic work teased Wagner/Silver vs Mesias/Konnan, but Mesias & Konnan didn’t like that idea. Earlier in the show, they teased Silver King vs La Parka Jr., Mesias vs Wagner in a rematch and May Flowers & Polvo de Estrellas vs Sexy Francis & Sexy Piscis for future shows. Despite the local commission telling him not to, Silver King wrestled in his mask, causing an upset editorial.

Zocalo and via DJ Espectro talks about the benefit show for Jerry Estrada in Monclova (one of a few), but isn’t big on spelling out results.

CMLL (SUN) 06/28 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Astaroth & Hierro b Acertijo & Angel del Mal
2) Azazel & Rafaga b Palacio Negro & Virgo
3) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Magnum & Metatron
4) Casanova, Metro, Stuka Jr. b Dr. X, Satanico, Skandalo
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas DQ Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara, Mistico

Full results, just had the main event yesterday. Stuka and Satanico feuded in the semimain. Thought it may just be random, but Satanico felt Stuka was to full of himself, talking about having wrestled in 2 other countries while Satanico’s wrestled in more than 15. That’s not all – Satanico was also upset with Stuka and more so Ultimo Guerrero proclaiming the best wrestlers come from schools in Comarca Lagunera. Satanico wasn’t going to let Guadalajara be disrespected like that. Satanico vows never to forget this, and hopes to soon have a battle between the rival schools. This sounds like a fantastic idea for a cibernetico.

There’s also an interview with No Limit on wrestling in Mexico. They say the wrestling isn’t so much different as the fans. Yujiro says he loves Mexico, and also points out he has no girlfriend so he hopes he meets a Mexican girl to marry and bring back to Japan with him.

EAW (SUN) 06/28 Gimnasio Lazaro Cadenas, Salamanca, Guanajuato [box y lucha, or the nearly identical recap on LuchandoLibre, ESTO]
1) Gallito Colorado & MatriXXX b America & Terror Negro
2) Dinastia, Pequeno Angel, Ragde b Pesadilla, Siniestro, Talaxys
3) Dralion & Erick Snake b Nightmare & Skam 13
4) Tracy Taylor b La Diabolica
5) Don Pollo & El Alebrije b Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan Jr.
6) Super Crazy & Zumbido b Juventud Guerrera & Scorpio Jr.
7) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Super Porky DQ El Hijo del Solitario & Pirata Morgan

Wagner wasn’t working with AAA this day, so he had no problem working here. Solitario pulled Wagner’s mask, got the pin, but the ref figured it out in the end. Scorpio made Zumbido bleed a great deal, but Zumbido came back to win. They’re still teasing that hair match.

IWRG (SUN) 06/28 Arena Naucalpan [KrisZ]
1) Sangre Latina b Fly Star
2) Chico Che & Rigo b Carta Brava Jr. & Judas el Traidor
3) Trauma I & Trauma II b Ghost Rider & Xibalba
4) Fantasma de la Opera, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Sauron b Bobby Lee Jr., Oficial 911, Oficial AK47
5) Avisman & Freelance NC Suicida & Tetsuya Bushi [Relevos Increíbles]

Main event was advertised last week as a six way cage match with Turbo and Black Thunder. Plans change. This main event went to a no contest, so they’ll do it again this weekend with hair mask on the line.

CMLL (MON) 06/29 Arena Puebla [CMLL]
5) La Sombra & Volador Jr. b Felino & Negro Casas [CMLL TAG]

Ovaciones has an interview with Panico, which ends up being about two quotes long. Even before they get to the Panico quotes, the author (Rosas Plata) claims, “10 months out from the Perros leaving, CMLL remains the strongest company in Mexico.” Their strength is built on their empty seats, I guess. The next paragraph talks about running shows in “areas that were lost”, naming Arena Isabel, San Luis Potosi, and Arena Coliseo Monterrey (uh, no.)

Anyway, Panico says CMLL can afford to lose anyone, because they’ll just take a kid out of one of their training schools to replace them. I don’t think that’s actually a working strategy, but it’d be interesting if CMLL actually believed that. Panico says guys like the Perros and Dos have left and some will eventually return, but that’s up to the wrestlers.

Ovaciones previews tonight’s Arena Mexico, as does ESTO and Record

Dr. Wagner says Cibernetico and Mesias had to join forces to fight him, because neither has a chance on their own. Plus, Cibernetico had to return to AAA to exist at all. Mesias was a good champion, but he’s not at Wagner’s level. Wagner says the Perros knew he was scheduled for AAA on the day they announced him for their show, but announced them everyone. In this interview, Dr. Wagner says he’s a free and independent wrestler. Someone’s lying here.

Villano V wants a loser must retire match with Blue Panther for the anniversary show.

Blue Demon plans to start celebrating his 24th anniversary with the show in Toronto next month. He also talks about the great success of NWA Mexico, which hasn’t run a show in a 2.5 months.

Ras de Lona #52 is Sangre Azteca, Dragon Rojo, Ultimo Dragoncito, Terrible, Princesa Blanca, Stuka Jr., Hijo del Fantasma, Quemonito and the hosts going on rides at Six Flags for their one year anniversary. If you want to see Leobrado and Quemonito on a merry go round, this is the show for you. Not only does Stuka appear to own one shirt, but he also is totally freaked out on some of the rides.

Luchas 2000 #476 is all about their show on Saturday.

Guerreros del Ring #192 is a special double issue with Pesta Negra & Andre the Giant covers.

LuchaWorld has Robert on Cadena3 04/05/08, CMLL TV 04/19/08, and AAA 04/27/08, as well as KrisZ’s news update.

IWRG (TUE) 06/30 Arena Naucalpan [DJ Spectro]
1) Extrano vs Dinamic Black
2) Blacky & Crazy Cat vs Halconero & Tachido
3) Halcon Fire & Rosa Salvaje vs Osiris & Sangre Latina
4) Comando Negro, Espada de Plata, Garra de Aguila vs Alan Extreme, Chamaco Maravilla, Espada de Plata
5) Fly Star, Guizmo, Zafiro vs Imperio Azteca, Latin Brother, Menphis

Tuesday novato show. Didn’t know they were doing these, but the poster says this is the third.

07/03 AAA TV Lineup (Queretaro)

AAA TV (FRI) 07/03 Gimnasio Jose Maria Arteaga, Queretaro, Queretaro
1) Aerostar & Fabi Apache vs Billy Boy & Sexy Star
2) Alan Stone, El Elegido, Extreme Tiger vs Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz
3) Alex Koslov, Rocky Romero, X-Pac vs Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown
4) Cibernetico & Mesias vs Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario
5) Charly Manson, Dr. Wagner Jr., Jack Evans vs Chessman, Silver King, Teddy Hart

2009 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#896)
Mexico: 07/12
US: 08/01

Hey, people back from their suspension. Also, Aerostar.

They’re still 7 weeks out from Verano, so AAA’s just killing time.

Decent chance of D-Mex winning. Circus is still favorites, but there’s no reason to keep the streak going – it’s as directionless as they’d been if they had a fifty/fifty record.

Hermandad are going right back to looking weak against every other tag team, I guess.

I guess tomorrow’s Dr. Wagner/Silver King team is not the start of a long partnership.

Coliseo results, Mistico vs Felino in GDL

who is this guy?/CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 06/28 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones, CMLL]
1) Sensei & TruenoCamorra & Cholo
2) Bracito de Oro, Fantasy, ShockercitoPequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior
3) Euforia, Nosferatu, VirusFlash, Metalico, Rey Cometa
4) Heavy Metal, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca b Mascara Dorada, Mictlan, Valiente
5) Blue Panther, Shocker, ToscanoNaito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Yujiro

Rudos won the first, tecnicos took the last two. Panther beat Mendoza clean in the decider.

Heavy Metal replaced Dragon Rojo, who Ovaciones notes as being late for the show. No explanation on why Metalico was in for Pegasso.

CMLL says the fans were telling Bracito de Oro to join the rudos, but he stuck with the tecnicos.

CMLL (SUN) 06/28 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas DQ Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara, Mistico

Felino tossed his mask to Mistico (or his feet) to get him called for the DQ. Mistico demanded a mask match, but Felino pointed out he won, so he wants a Mexican Light Heavyweight match instead. Mistico agreed, and they’ll have it at the next Fan Appreciation show here – which I believe is next Sunday. That’ll be the first known defense of that title since it’s come back to CMLL, 20 months ago.

Box Y Lucha has a new episode of the their TV show.

Ocioso @ box y lucha reposted an interview with Mascara Sagrada from Proceso. Sagrada talks about his long fight to get control of his name from Televisa and AAA, and now feeling locked out of a job since he’s not going back to AAA and CMLL says they don’t have a spot for him.

Hijo del Santo & Cassandro talk about their match in France. Santo won, of course.

CMLL (MON) 07/06 Arena Puebla
1) As Jr., Guerrero Maya Jr., Starman vs Inquisidor, Puma King, Tiger Kid
2) Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Virus
3) Blue Panther, Sagrado, Toscano vs Ephesto, Lizmark Jr., Mephisto
4) Hector Garza, Mistico, Shocker vs Atlantis, Heavy Metal, Texano Jr.

Box Y lucha has the lineup, days early. Huh.

Perros (THU) 07/02 Tijuana
1) Histeria, Psicosis, X-Fly vs Los Locos del Ring
2) Cibernetico, Intocable, Olimpico vs Damian 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween

I’m thinking that lineup won’t come off right. Just a guess.

Blue Panther OK, Puebla, IWRG, lineups

CMLL (MON) 06/22 Arena Puebla [KrisZ]
1) Asturiano & Centella de Oro b Espiritu Maligno & Sauron
2) Estrella Magica, Lady Apache, Sahori b Amapola, Mima Shimoda, Yezca
3) Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skandalo b Flash, Pegasso, Stuka Jr.
4) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b Hector Garza, La Sombra, Volador Jr.
5) Mephisto, Terrible, Texano Jr. b La Mascara, Shocker, Toscano

IWRG (THU) 06/25 Arena Naucalpan [SuperLuchas #321]
1) Guizmo b Fly Star
2) Galactik & Goleador b Epidemia & Heavy Boy
3) Chico Che, Exodia, Rigo b Capitan Muerte, Fantasma de la Opera, Judas el Traidor
4) Black Terry, Dr. Cerebro, Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG) b Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II
5) Fuerza Guerrera, Juventud Guerrera, Ricky Cruzz DQ Angelico, Bobby Lee Jr., Negro Navarro

Dr. Cerebro was watching the main event, but he and Juvi got into a fight and Cerebro ran in for the DQ. Busy night for Dr. Cerebro, since he also pinned Trauma II and asked for a title match.

SuperLuchas #321 also has an interview with Nitro, who got an office job with CMLL while he was out. Besides helping with training, he’s also working in publicity. HEY NITRO, PUT THE SPOT SHOW LINEUPS ON YOUR WEBSITE. Thank you. Also, Mini Nitro makes more sense all the sudden. Nitro hopes to be back in the ring. on August 1st.

Blue Panther worked the Arena Coliseo show (and won!), so I guess he’s fine or they just did an injury angle for no particular reason.

Mistico wants another shot at Negro’s CMLL Welterweight championship. In another article, Pesta Negra pointed out that he’s got to beat Negro to get it, not Niebla as Friday.

AAA.com links: says Psycho Circus will be on the Queretaro taping, reveals Mini Charly Manson will return soon, wonders if Cibernetico will form another faction or if this is the start of Wagner brothers teaming a lot in AAA. In Record, Mesias confirms Cibernetico is his mystery partner on Tuesday.

AAA show as a local campaign rally. I guess Elegido is an appeal to female voters. One more week of this!

WrestlingObserver has their AAA recap. Forget all the spots, Fabi Apache trying to give Gato Eveready relationship advice was the craziest thing on that show.

Box Y Lucha #2928 has Cibernetico returning to AAA. Inside, Faraon says there is no more Hijo de Faraon. A little late on that one.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

UWE (WED) 07/01 Arena Lopes Mateos
1) Brazo de Plata, Mil Mascaras, Villano III vs Brazo de Oro, Dos Caras Sr., Villano IV
2) Cachorro Mendoza, Mascara Ano 2000, Pirata Morgan vs Hombre Bala, Ringo Mendoza, Universo 2000

This is the UWE legends show that I’ve been steadfastly ignoring for the last month. To be fair, all but about 700 people will continue to ignore it. To be fair (to me), this lineup seems to have already changed – Lizmark’s retirement match is MIA. With the two matches that are announced, the losing trios will meet in a cage match with the loser losing their hair or mask, or at least that’s the plan of the moment.

Seriously, are people who are into nostalgia shows like this in it for weird relevos incredible lineups? I’d think they’d just want to see their favorite teams face their favorite rivals one more time, and pretend that they’re still seeming them when they were good. Maybe they’re run these shows enough that someone feels like they need to do something new, or maybe it won’t make a difference because the people who are going are going regardless.

IWRG (THU) 07/02 Arena Naucalpan
1) Mascara Magnifica vs King Drako
2) Exodia & Galactik vs Azoka & Carta Brava Jr.
3) Chico Che, Jack, Rigo vs Fantasma de la Opera, Ghost Rider, Tetsuya Bushi
4) Megatronik, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Fuerza Guerrera, Ricky Cruzz, Veneno
5) Juventud Guerrera vs Dr. Cerebro [hair]

Megatronik is a new name. Need to go lock some profiles.

IWRG (SUN) 07/05 Arena Naucalpan
1) Fly Star vs Radamantis
2) Guizmo & Halcon 2000 vs Carta Brava Jr. & Vampiro Metalico
3) Chico Che, Jack, Rigo vs Arlequin Rojo, Arlequin Verde, Capitan Muerte
4) Ricky Cruzz, Tetsuya Bushi, Veneno vs El Alebrije, Megatronik, Negro Navarro
5) ??? vs ? [mask, hair]

Main event probably spins out of tonight’s cage match.

CMLL (SUN) 07/05 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Bengala & Principe Valiente vs Camorra & Cholo
2) Astro Boy, Metalico, Starman vs Inquisidor, Polvora, Semental
3) Fabian el Gitano, Flash, Mictlan vs Bronco, Hooligan, Loco Max
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Naito, Shigeo Okumura, Yujiro

It amazes me, with all the things CMLL doesn’t do, they do things like sending Camorra & Cholo to Guadalajara. Going to make no difference to the attendance, going to make them no money unless they company is paying for a plane flight (and then the company is not making money on it), and it’s just one extra match they could have locally. Eh.

CMLL (SUN) 07/05 Arena Coliseo
1) As Jr. & Trueno vs Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Dark Angel, Estrella Magica, Marcela vs Mima Shimoda, Princesa Blanca, Yezca
3) Electrico, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Warrior
4) Ephesto, Misterioso II, Virus vs Sagrado, Stuka Jr., Valiente
5) Blue Panther, Shocker, Toscano vs Heavy Metal, Lizmark Jr., Ultimo Guerrero

Minis to TV?

Mexico results (Panther hurt?), Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 06/26 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, Cesar, Ovaciones, ESTO]
1) Astro Boy & MolotovArtillero & Zayco
2) Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa SujeiDark Angel, Lady Apache, Lluvia
3) PierrothitoUltimo Dragoncito [lightning]
4) Maximo, Stuka Jr., Valiente DQ Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura
5) Ray Mendoza Jr., Tetsuya Naito, YujiroBlue Panther, Hector Garza, Toscano
6) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr.Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Volador & Sombra got Negro & Felino with casitas in the first, rudos won the second, and Mistico got Niebla with a Mistica in the third.

Bobby Bonales was honored before the semimain. His son gave a Bobby Bonales trophy to Blue Panther (for being Blue Panther, I guess), and one to a fan. BTW, Bonales son is Daniel Aceves, who previously was announced as new president of NWA Mexico when Blue Demon won the title. Panther and Mendoza are still feuding.

During the second fall, Panther lost via multiple submissions at the same time, but it was slow up. Everyone notes he was checked on by the doctor and strechered out, but only the ESTO story seems to have an explanation. According to them, Panther was having trouble breathing and feeling dizzy, after taking a back suplex earlier in the fall. ESTO makes the connection to Misawa.

Maximo and team won in straight falls. Maximo kissed Okumura in the second, and Okumura fouled him.

Ovaciones raves about the minis lightning match.

AAA (THU) 06/25 Discoteca Hysteria [Luchando Libre]
1) el Insecto & Terror b Mr. Stop & Rockett
2) Slax b Hiunkell, Hijo del Signo
3) Super Calo b El Signo
4) Decnnis & Escoria b Chris Stone & Gato Eveready
5) Charly Manson, El Elegido, Gronda II DQ Electro Shock, Espiritu, Ozz

Show had been advertised for a month as a six way hair/mask main event, and was earlier supposed to be Psicosis/Histeria promoted show with a similar style main event. Instead, it was just a normal trios with no explanation. Kiss notes most people didn’t complain, or notice.

Konnan was in prison. Unfortunately for the hopes of many, he was there as a visitor, as part of a program to talk to young men about his life and how they can change theirs. AAA also has a story about a dozen wrestlers helping out at a children with cancer function. I wonder why this week is all about mentioning AAA charity activities? Oh, wait, I guess I don’t wonder. Still, it’s nice they’re doing it.

Proyeccion Luchistica has an interview with IWRG’s Exodia, who’s revealed here as Olimpico’s son. There’s also a video interview with Xeuxis, and a whole bunch of shorter interviews with other luchadoras.

In Ecuador, local wrestler el Indio was arrested for trying to move stolen high powered guns to Colombia as part of a arms trafficking scheme.

Mima Shimoda says she’s in Chicago today. Where? Bad translation?

Ohtani’s Jacket was surprised by Zatura vs Trauma II.

LuchaWorld has CMLL TV 04/12/08 and AAA 04/16/08

CMLL (TUE) 06/30 Arena Mexico
1) As Jr. & Super Camaleon vs Inquisidor & Semental
2) Astro Boy, Guerrero Maya Jr., Tony Rivera vs Caligula, Messala, Polvora
3) Fabian el Gitano, Flash, Horus vs Euforia, Hooligan, Nosferatu
4) Blue Panther, Mictlan, Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Lizmark Jr., Misterioso II
5) Hector Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara vs Averno, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Trios champs together there. First match for Super Camaleon here in about four months. As Jr. seems to have been demoted.

CMLL (FRI) 07/03 Arena Mexico
1) Sensei & Trueno vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Angel Azteca Jr., Guerrero Maya Jr., Starman vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skandalo
3) Maximo, Metro, Mictlan vs Euforia, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
4) La Mascara vs Felino [lightning]
5) Hector Garza, Shocker, Toscano vs Naito, Texano Jr., Yujiro
6) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

A weird lightning match. They seem to be only treading water.

CMLL (TUE) 06/30 Arena Mexico
1) As Jr. & Super Camaleon vs Inquisidor & Semental
2) Astro Boy, Guerrero Maya Jr., Tony Rivera vs Caligula, Messala, Polvora
3) Fabian el Gitano, Flash, Horus vs Euforia, Hooligan, Nosferatu
4) Blue Panther, Mictlan, Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Lizmark Jr., Misterioso II
5) Hector Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara vs Averno, Terrible, Texano Jr.

AAA TripleMania ’09 recap

taped and aired 06/13/09

I’m done. There are other recaps I’ve done and haven’t quite gotten around to posting, but let’s just get this up so it’s off my way. Warning: it’s 10,000 words. I’m going to put in a request for an editor at the next website budget meeting.

Relevos AAA: It’s easy to correct the dots between Billy seemingly not bothering to put on his wrestling gear and his misadventure with white powder, but I don’t that we can prove it. His level non-participation seems overstated, though he’s also seemed more interested.

Not the best match of the show, surprisingly, but still good. Minis were good, Sexi’s act is better as a ruda, and more obvious statements.

If the feud AAA is building here is Fabi’s hair and Sexi’s mask, why do the finish around Elegido’s mask?

Zorro/X-Pac: where did Charly’s flour come from? Why, after all the stuff about the cane shots, did they use a belt? Couldn’t the exact same bit been done with Zorro taking all 10 cane shots?

Alex/Alan/Crazy/Tiger: the stunt match it figured to be, with Tiger and Crazy laughably indulging all their urges – or at least the ones they felt safe doing in DF. I didn’t really have too big of a problem with the CO finish, because they had a much better chance of actually hitting the spot inside the ring.

In recent years, AAA has had the winner of the title tournament lose in the first defense for this title, the tag team titles, and the Mexican welterweight title. If/when Mini Charly Manson gets in the ring long enough to defend the minis title, you’d expect for him to lose in his first defense too. They’ve only not done this with the heavyweight title, because that’s carefully planned and everything else is an attempt to surprise – though I don’t know why people why people would care that Alex was first out here.

Latin & Marco vs Joe & Nicho – If you had made guess, I would’ve bet the men in the crowd would’ve turned on Marco before Latin, so that was all strange. This was the least memorable match on the show and I’m beyond caring about La Hermandad as a team.

Mesias vs Wagner – a pleasant surprise. Maybe the importance of the situation made it better. At least, it prevented their bad habits – the building was too big for Wagner just to play off one tecnico section instead of working, and it was not the venue for Mesias to turn it into a long crowd brawl. They had to get the match over and did.

Crowd clearly picked Wagner over Mesias. I completely reject what was written in the WON about this match – crowd booed Mesias any time he’d do something to Wagner, only tiring out on that near the end of the match. (That’s another point in their favor, they did 35+ minutes without losing the crowd, or resorting to a CMLL-rific 15 of doing a move, two count, everyone lays down for a while, other guy does a move.) That Wagner would be picked over Mesias is no surprise to anyone, except those in AAA.

Actually, Mesias himself figured out the fan’s picks. I don’t remember the exact point, but he stopped fighting it and went along as a subtle heel, which made the match a lot better. I’m tougher on Mesias than anyone else, but even I’ve got to admit he was really good here. Easily the best match I’ve seen him in and is at least an AAA MOTYC.

I noticed Dr. Wagner’s luchawiki profile the other day, which appears to be mostly have been written in 2006, and reminds me that he easily could’ve lost his mask and started to fade out in 2005, and it wouldn’t have been a huge surprise if he did it in 2004. Obviously, it worked out well for him to stay for the last four. Even more recently, he’s the clear winner of the promotion jumps/indy groups chaos of the last year. Wagner doesn’t have his independence, but he’s got a major promoting pushing him to the top, which is really what he wanted all along.

BTW, next time AAA says they don’t care about the internet, please remember they kept the details about Wagner’s contract status so the people on the internet wouldn’t figure out he was going to win.

The Wagner chair shot to counter Mesias’ pescado was really well done and well shot. There’s not a lot of those moments, so I figure i need to point them out.

I’m begging someone to give me a name for Mesias’ move. I think that’s why I’ve got to buy the video game right there, some poor designer may have had to come up with names for everything and I can start using them even if AAA doesn’t.

Cage Match: chaos. Was it Alan who said it was a perfectly right for AAA? I totally agree.

Putting aside Santo winning – WON says AAA was afraid Santo was going to walk out on the show, so they gave him the win to make sure he’d be happy; not clear if Santo actually threatened to leave or if this was just preventive – the plot points in this match were all weird

  • Charly is the one who gets the key, but Cien walks out with it? Pre-tape? Something I missed?
  • A half dozen AAA wrestlers are stomping a mudhole in Konnan, but he’s walking to ringside fine a couple of minutes later with no sign of any of them?
  • The rudos didn’t seem to have any particular advantage by handcuffing Parka
  • Roldan was actually stopping Konnan perfectly fine before Masked Zorro showed up
  • The cane shot actually didn’t directly lead to anything – Konnan wasn’t actually stopping anyone from leaving. It wasn’t a difference making spot that didn’t actually make a difference.
  • two tecnicos left against one rudo is a odd way to do it for drama (but this may be the Santo thing)

If this was one of the US promotions they were trying to emulate, there’d at least be a storyline wondering if Zorro was actually under the Zorro mask. (And he did look a little odd for reasons I can’t find the words to describe. Maybe it was his gait?) AAA didn’t give the impression that they were going this way, that this instead was all about a symbolic reversion to an earlier Zorro brought on by that slap. I guess we know for sure if there’s more story whenever Zorro turns back up on TV again. Which I hope is soon.

I would’ve been happy with this show if I paid $20 of it. (It was a lot more entertaining to watch than to read updates about, that’s for sure.) This was a good major show for AAA.
