03/28: IWRG, Neza, Mexico

IWRG (THU) 03/26 Arena Naucalpan [Al Filo del Ring, Proyeccion Luchistica]
1) Garra de Aguila b Keshin Black
2) Carta Brava Jr. & Mixteco Jr. b Galactik & Mascara Magnifica
3) Chico Che, Freelance, Turbo b Black Terry, Black Thunder, Capitan Muerte
4) Head Hunter I, Head Hunter II, Veneno b Arlequin, Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG), Pierroth II
5) Fuerza Guerrera b Oficial 911 [IWRG IC WELTER]

Fuerza retains the title. The Pierroth/Arlequin alliance fell apart, and a green Arlequin (Arlequin Verde?) showed up to set up a tag feud.

indy (FRI) 03/27 Arena Neza [proyeccion luchistica, Mr. Reyes]
1) Dr. Trauma & Iron Black b Lider & Super Chiva
2) Furia Roja & Motocross b Dragon Extreme & Rey Neza
3) La Parkita & Mascarita de Oro b Espectrito I & Mini Black Cat
4) Hermano Muerte II & Hermano Muerte III b Coco Verde & Cocolores
5) Head Hunter I & Head Hunter II b Fuerza Guerrera & Scorpio Jr.
6) Damian 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween b Dr. Wagner Jr., El Hijo Del Santo, La Park

Santo had Perro in the camel clutch, but the Perros broke it up and fouled him for the win. Muertes and Cocos agreed to a mask match.

CMLL (FRI) 03/27 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, SuperLuchas, ESTO]
1) Sensei & Trueno b Inquisidor & Semental
2) Flash, Leono, Stuka Jr. b Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skandalo
3) Ultimo Dragoncito b Pequeno Violencia [lightning]
4) Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca b Hector Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara
5) Dos Caras Jr., Mascara Dorada, Shocker b Averno, Mephisto, Terrible
6) Texano Jr., Villano IV, Villano V b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Ultimo Guerrero

Villano V (announced here as Rey Mendoza Jr.) beat UG clean. Tecnicos took the second in straight falls, DQ in the first for throwing Dorada over the top rope (that only seems to happen to Averno & Mephisto teams) and Shocker & Dos got submissions in the second. Dorada is said to have looked good. Pseudo Poder Mexica won again and demanded a title shot next week.

Ultimo Guerrero tells el Siglo de Torreon he was satisfied with the mask match and wants Villano IV next.

Remember that WWA Middleweight Title match between Angel Blanco and Olimpico, which didn’t seem to make much sense because Mistico seemed to still have the belt. Well, Olimpico is upset, because he won and never actually got the belt. WWA belts = jokes.

WWE’s Rikishi talks about wrestling in Chile.

Terra TV has been running clips from interviews with Santo on their site all week: on Todo x el Todo, indepedent wrestling, CMLL, why he loves lucha libre, and tougest mask matches.

Proyeccion Luchistica also has an interview with female indy wrestler Corazon de Fuego Jr.

LuchaWorld has Robert on 10/13/07 CMLL and Arena Coliseo Monterrey 2004.

CMLL (TUE) 03/31 Arena Mexico
1) Molotov, Sombra de Plata, Trueno vs Artillero, Inquisidor, Super Comando
2) Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata, Sensei vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Vangelis
3) Shockercito vs Fire [hair]
4) Maximo, Mictlan, Shocker vs Felino, Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla
5) La Sombra, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero

One week build to hair match. That’s IWRG-rific.

CMLL (FRI) 04/03 Arena Mexico
1) Angel Azteca Jr. & Starman vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Lady Apache, Marcela, Sahori vs Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Blanca
3) Valiente vs Virus [lightning]
4) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Lizmark Jr., Mephisto
5) Hector Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Mascara vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca [CMLL TRIOS]
6) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Shocker vs Averno, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Everyone not here is in GDL. They probably should put the title match in the main event, but I don’t think they see anyone besides Garza as a star.

  1. Hopefully the Hermanos Muerte win their mask match to finish these Payasos off. Since the IWRG Payasos dissapeared last year from Arena Naucalpan, they confuse me even more. Wherever the Perros del Mal wrestled, there always were some Payasos. In december, it had to be some of the independent rudo Payasos because there was a Coco Negro and a Coco Amarillo which IWRG never had. But as time went on, the Perros appeared on more and more shows with IWRG wrestlers – the Arena Neza show from 02/13 had so many IWRG wrestlers that it would be strange if the Payasos that appeared there were not the IWRG clowns. Now, I’m totally confused.

  2. Over on the Hi5 page people who were there live last night said attendance was beyond awful. One person guessed 3,000.:/

Tuesday looks FUN! I wish the good C3 feed was working.:( The Shocker/Maximo/Mictlan team would make the weakest Guapos trio ever. I wonder if they’ll run with that? Not sure why they are doing a revenge in the main event but any time those tecnicos get to team works for me. MINI’S HAIR MATCH! I could care less about the build b/c the match should rock! Fire should be losing though.

Friday also looks half-decent. Hopefully they aren’t done airing the Lightning Matches b/c Valiente/Virus could be the best yet. Nice to see the ex-Mex Nat Trios champs teaming and likely putting on a great show in the match LOWER than the title match involving two teams that aren’t half as good. Are they going to give the belts to the rudos and just phase out for the Mex Nat Trios titles? Hopefully not.

Veo TV today aired the opener from the 1/7 Arena Coliseo show (Sombra De Plata/Molotov vs Super Comando/Zayco), the main event from the same show (aired on GdR originally) and the top 4 from the 5/4 Arena Mexico show (including two unaired match: Sagrado/Metal/Ultimo vs Averno/Mephisto/Efesto & Corleone/Koslov/Bucanero vs Atlantis/Ultimo/Azteca).

According to a LLStyle – there is Lucha airing tonight from 7-9:30 (Mexico time) but no listing as to what it is. Dos Leyendas?

  3. Turns out the 7pm show is just WWE so listing it as wrestling was just a mistake.

They’re also saying Mistico vs Negro aired on FSE this week! Long match would fit well with Dorada vs Peq Warrior!;)

  4. The setup for the trios titles match was not good at all. They blew the finish horribly.:/

  5. Strange…

CMLL TV’s hype for Tuesday @ Arena Mexico had Stuka Jr. replacing Shocker in the semi-main and Blue Panther in for Mistico in the main.

  6. @Rob: Mistico vs Negro made fox xports? Odd they wouldn’t save that for a Dos Leyendas special if they are planning one. The other matches on the show were short enough that it would be difficult to put together an interesting show without that and the mask match.

  7. Wow, did you see the commercial for Los Secretos Ocultos de la Lucha Libre airing tonight on Galavision at 10:30? It looks horrible but will surely suck me in.

  8. I wouldn’t get too excited. They’ve aired that special so many times already. It’s the same NBC special from 1998 or so where they used the SoCal indy workers under masks and reveal nothing nobody didn’t know about the business.

  9. ahhh, i hadn’t ever seen it on NBC, but was wondering if it was the same show. Thanks for saving me the half an hour.

  10. Casas/Negro was a pretty good match. Can’t believe Negro took the Spanish Fly and kicked out. And Casas winning the first caida with the La Mistica RULED.

  11. Casas/Mistico was really good. Minis was good as well. AAA was ok early on with the Poder Del Norte vs. Real Fuerza Aerea, but the rest of the show just dragged on.

One thing I do have to say is that these current announcers on CMLL blow. They don’t show enough emotion during matches. They just spend all the time talking. Even when Casas won and got a big pop from the crowd, they kept talking. Its like they’re trying to impress the audience with all the info they know, but forget to sell the match.

  12. Casas/Mistico was definitely the match of the night at Dos Leyendas, so I’m glad to hear that it translated well to TV and didn’t get butchered for the Fox Sports show. I’ll have to try to catch one of the replays this week. Was the minis the Dos Leyendas match as well?

  13. No it was from Arena Coliseo. The new guy is ok and Bam Bam needs to wrestle Virus nightly already. That would be a incredible match.

  14. How awesome is it that a little over a month after Misterioso II finally joins a group (Hijos del Averno), he gets a shot at the trios titles with two members of Poder Mexica. I know this is only because Warrior is in trouble in the DF, but great booking CMLL. Glad to see Misterioso getting moved up the card a little though.

  15. Veo TV for Sunday had the segunda and semi-main from 1/7/07 @ Arena Coliseo (both aired originally) and the top two from 5/11/07 @ Arena Mexico (both also aired originally).

  16. @Alfredo: I was shocked myself. I really think the LATV deal is a good one. Fixed timeslot, and cable carriage on basic in NYC, Chicago, San Antonio, Miami, SanFranJose, Sacramento, Vegas, Houston, etc….. And if you want to watch on free tv, you can do that too. And once a new law is passed, Dish and Direct will have to carry all those loca LATV affiliates as well.

Speaking of Dish, Univision is running ads every hour telling viewers that they are far apart in negotiations with Dish, and that they can call a number to find out how else they can get Univision, Galavision, and Telefutura, if they really do not come to terms by a certain date. Imagine no AAA on Dish?

  17. Dish Network is the worst. When comes time to negotiate new carriage contracts they always pull this crap. They’ve done it with all the major providers Disney, Viacom, Turner, etc. They always play up the little guy vs. big corporation card and claim they are trying to keep sub fees down, yet they raise every year and are in line with DirecTV, who offer far more channels in all packages.

  18. By the way: it is interesting that they brought back Fire just few days after the confusion with Shockercito and the Perros del Mal, and that they built that Hair vs. Hair Match in such a mad rush.

To me it sounds that they promised Shockercito a fast Apuestas win to keep him at CMLL, and that’s the reason they brought Fire back after ignoring his existence for so many months.

  19. @LLL: If Dish loses Univision, Galavision, and Telefutura, then there really is no point in keeping the DishLatino package that they offer. I don’t think the local Spanish channels would be affected if I dumped the DishLatino package, would they?

  20. @Alfredo: Yes. Dish Network is negotiating both local and national carriage with Univision/Telefutura/Galavision. So you and everyone else would lose locals(like KMEX 34), and Galavision.

You should look into whether or not you even need the Dish Latino package to get Galavision. My friends all have DirecTV, and get Galavision with paying for the Direct Mas package. It’s usually the stations like Cine Latino, V-Me, Teleformula, and Fox Sports Espanol that come with the Latino packages on Dish and Direct.

Dish would lose this battle if you ask me.

  21. @Anonymous: @Anonymous: Well that would suck then.

Dish is stupid if they lose those 3 channels and the locals because Univision and Galavision are basically the main channels and reasons to even get that DishLatino package or even getting Dish. I switched from DirecTV to Dish years ago because Dish was way cheaper and I really only need like 15 channels that I regularly watch. Two of which are Galavision and Univision (although I don’t watch Univision as much as I use to).

Losing KMEX 34 would probably kill DishNetwork locally.

  22. I hate when I come out as Anonymous. Forgot to type my name in. Check out Dish pricing again, b/c I don’t think you need the Latino package to get Galavision. Only the tier stations like V-Me, Teleformula,FSE etc……It’s possible to have Dish and get Gala without paying for the Latino package.

Univision must think the two sides are far apart, and that they will lose Dish like Gol Tv. Univision TV and Radio are running one spot per hour all day telling people that Dish may remove them, and to call a 1-800 number to find out how to get their stations.
