03/17: Televisa posted full results. Let’s go over everything one last time to fill in the gaps and correct the details.

Opener: Aerostar pinned Billy Boy. After the match, Aerostar asked Gran Apache permission to date his daughter. Aerostar did not actually specify which daughter and we are left to wonder. Billy Boy, who should’ve immediatly slapped some sense into the tecnico, said that was all fine and good, because he was now in love with Sexi Star. Like sands thru the hourglass, these are the days of our lives.

6th: Legion beat D-Mex/Charly, with X-Pac chasing Zorro to the back before the finish. Juvi appeared on the stage after the match, with girlfriend Lizzy, and voewed to end the Legion. I fear the inevitable Nikki/Lizzy match (meanwhile, Fabi Apache lucky to be in the opener.)

Konnan brought out Jack & Teddy with him for the hair match, so Marco showed up to take count them and help Vampiro win. It was all a plan by Roldan, who at least has been paying attention thru all the other Konnan matches (where Jack & Teddy always run in.)

Silver King eliminated Parka with a martinete, but then got pinned after he and Electroshock goofed up. I know I said they might as well had Electro win this year, but now that I think about Silver King being right there and not winning, I’m still not sure why he didn’t win. Swerve for the sake of doing one?

Legion ran in the title match to help Chessman. So did the Sect – did I miss something where they no longer hate Chessman? I’m not trying to be sarcastic, I’m really asking. AAA ran out to run those people out and Mesias beat Chessman.

Dr. Wagner Jr. appeared after the main event to challenge for a shot at the Mega title (Wagner had his UWA title, but no one mentions it being title vs title or anything like that). Konnan pitched Wagner to join the Legion, and gave him a one week deadline to decide between sides. I presume Dr. Wagner’s choosing Dr. Wagner.

That deadline means Wagner’s on the Madero taping (and probably the Monterrey) – I hope everyone who has Wagner booked this week has other plans. It also means we’re probably getting Rey de Reyes the first week (with maybe the hair match) and then everything else the second week.

Live Coverage:

AAA’s doing live updates – wow! – so I can do some live updates. I don’t suspect we’ll get the same thing next week. Updates as they come, and I suspect no full results until tomorrow morning.

Dr. Wagner Jr. has shown up. This must be a different Dr. Wagner than the one who’s been adamant about not joining AAA.

Chessman has won the AAA Mega Title. Charly should’ve just let him climb the ladder at Guerra de Titanes and saved us some time. Correction: Mesias still champ.

Marco Corleone has jumped to AAA. It sounds as though he turned out to be Roldan’s representative, not Vampiro. (???) Marco won, of course. I can not fathom Konnan vs Marco as an actual match. Marco worked as Vampiro and Roldan’s second, helping Vampiro win. Sounds like Marco may be in D-Mex as well.

Electroshock is your 2009 Rey de Reyes, beating Latin Lover in the final. The big change on top!

Block A: Black Abyss beat Ozz, Abismo Negro beat Black Abyss, and Latin Lover beat his old rival Abismo Negro to take the block.

Block B: Alan Stone beat Joe Lider, Elegido beat Alan Stone, Silver King beat Elegido.

Block C: Octagon beat Nicho, and Electro beat both Octagon and Super Fly.

Block D: Super Porky was first out, and La Parka beat both Kenzo and Scoria.

No decision mentions for the D-Mex/Legion trios match, but we do know Juvi returned to AAA and joined D-Mex. The comedy potential here is off the charts.

  1. Hehe the funny thing will be that jindrak now will have to go to the inmigration office to sign everyweek like koslov and romero has been doin since they leave cmll cos now im sure paco wants them out of the country lol & aaa havent fix their job visa in the country, i think he didnt listen to the experience of his pal Rellik hehe i sugest that aaa should do some scrip like jindrak fall in love with faby apache and billy boy gets jealous hahaha that could be so funny and creepy to have apache as his inlaw

  2. Man, and I had just reached the point where I could not only tolerate Marco in CMLL, but actually had some amount of respect for the guy after the Cubs interview. Way to Fredo that up!

    ~rl

  3. Yeah, the two worst wrestlers of CMLL
in the worst roster in the world. Good luck to all AAA fans.

  4. Zorro does come out a big loser right now but it feels like seeds are being planted for a Legion upheaval. Maybe Zorro will take over and be the leader and get himself back into a title feud. Hell, overtaking Konnan and getting in a feud with him might even turn him tecnico in some weird way. It’s not surprising with everyone coming in and everything going on that he’d get buried. AAA had to fill Ciber’s spot so the focus had to go all on Mesias.

Man is that guy on roids or something? He’s in way better shape than Ciber ever was. I think Ciber is definitely the biggest loser of all simply cuz he probably thought AAA would go in the tank without him and now the show is way better.

Besides, would anyone really care about D-Mex is they didin’t have the greatness that is Zorro to feud with?

  5. can you explain me why zorro is so special ? each time I see him the guy is beyond awful.

  6. i think we should all have an over/under on how long wagner lasts in AAA, i would say till the day after triplemania

  7. @ TONY: I jsut think he always does good promos; only he can pull off this going crazy thing and make it look natural, and he’s got some great in ring skills.

Plus, totally supercifial; I’m a girl and I think he’s hot.

  8. @Albert: LOL! I think perhaps a poll or a pick ’em thing were everyone selects the day Wagner leaves. I would say the same time that you mention since after Triplemania last year was when Los Guapos and a couple of other guys left.

@RL: That was a real good interview. I actually think this was a good move for Marco Corleone. He was going nowhere in CMLL. Its a risky move because in CMLL, his loyalty would have meant a lifetime deal there. However, CMLL doesn’t book the heavyweight division well and I don’t think Corleone would ever get the belt. Even if he did, how many times would he even defend it? The CMLL heavyweight title is the worst gimmick in lucha libre right now. CMLL doesn’t care about it and in turn they’ve made the fans not care about the belt as well (eliminating a gimmick to draw attendance).

Corleone fits the type of wrestlers AAA is going after right now, so short-term this is a good deal.

Main event and really the semi-main event killing trios matches (with Octagon and Alebrije and random guys) have improved . Even if the semi-main events turn into clusterfucks and long promos, that’s actually better than sitting through some of those trios matches they had with Octagon on them.

  9. Yay for Marco Corleone in AAA. Try as I might, I just can’t get into most CMLL matches that weren’t minis.

  10. All this talk about CMLL, the titles, etc….reminds me of the book I’m reading by Chris Jericho. He notes that in Mexico, wrestlers get double for title defenses. I’d hope CMLL isn’t still honoring that tradition.

  11. I have to disagree with those of you that think Ciber is shit-outta-luck.
Right now, Konnan has kinda stuck one to CMLL by stealing one of their top guys. But, at the same time, CMLL never hung their hat on Marco, because they had been burned too many times by foreigners. CMLL had to know this day was coming, maybe not so soon, but when a guy is unhappy and has other opportunities, you know about it. If Marco is walking into Paco’s office and saying he wants the CMLL title or hes heading to AAA, I think Paco is going to tell him not to go, but prepare for him to leave, and that looks to be what happened here. CMLL, by putting the heavyweight strap on Ultimo (and teasing a technico turn that I am assuming happens fully following Friday), taking the strap off of Dos Jr. left Marco out in the cold.
As for Wagner… he has been gone from CMLL for what, six months now? And he hasn’t been a big part of their plans since the match against Mistico that was like 18 months ago. If I am CMLL, I am shocked that it took this long for Doc to show up. While it certainly gives AAA momentum, it should be something that CMLL is more than prepared for, and not hurt them.
Here is where Ciber comes in. From the begining there has been debate about if Ciber leaving is a work or not. From the start people have been saying that Ciber showing up in Arena Mexico would be a big deal, and money could be made by all. You don’t think that Ciber coming out to cost Ultimo his mask wouldnt make for a hot angle? In my mind, Ciber is in a VERY good position, up until Friday’s show is over. He loses a little more bargaining power if Perro & crew return first. And if what has been eluded to in a few interviews by Ciber, that he didnt like how Negro Casas “conducts himself” around the young boys… I would think that the obvious change in the booking and politics backstage in recent times would make him more apt to reconsider CMLL.
If Perrito & Santo have leverage right now, so does Ciber. In fact, I would think that Perro would have the least leverage, because his promotion isnt a rousing success (and perhaps just lost Doc in the main events), and he wouldnt step into AAA as a guaranteed main event star with Mesias, Doc, Marco, Konnan and others around. However, Perrito somehow screwing over Mistico Friday would certainly have an impact (and perhaps make their stip match a certainty for September).
I’d be willingto say the biggest losers in the whole mess are the AAA midcarders with promise (Stone, Secta, Billy Boy, etc), who will be forced further down the card as Parka Jr., Octagon, Charley etc. are forced into the midcard. CMLL might be able to pull off getting a group of these guys to jump over and push them higher on the card than they are in AAA. Stone/Texano/Terrible as a semi-main rudo trio in GDL and Puebla doesnt sound too bad…

  12. @Nikita: You’re gonna have to sell me more on CMLL being prepared for this since they used Marco as a sub on Friday and put him over really strong.

Ciber would never work out in CMLL. It’d be a shorter stint than Wagner’s will be in AAA. Reasoning:

    1. Ciber has no respect amongst any workers in CMLL. They will shoot on him, they will no sell his offense and they will openly mock him.

    2. Ciber is not in the condition to be a CMLL worker. He can’t even go 5 minutes in AAA where he doesn’t have to do anything, how will he last 10-12 minutes in a trios match where he has to do stuff?

    3. Ciber has such an inflated ego that he doesn’t think he should ever lose. That won’t fly in CMLL.

    4. Ciber has such an inflated ego that he won’t ever work a match that isn’t the main event. That won’t fly in CMLL.

    5. Ciber wants to only work part-time. CMLL has no need for a part-time worker, they need a touring guy.

  13. @Rob: I asked myself if the ArMex fans would treat Ciber like Gronda should he go there. Remember how dead Gronda was in that environment? Would Ciber be a joke to CMLL fans like Electroshock? I don’t know. I’d think Ciber is a bigger name and has proven himself that no one would shoot on him. His initial appearances should be worth something should he go there.

  14. “Prepared” is probably not the right word…
I think CMLL knew that at some point Marco was, at the very least, going to leave them for AAA or Vince.
As someone who has had to deal with things from the management side, if someone is unhappy in the lockerroom, EVERYONE in the lockerroom tends to know.

  15. Well I’m pretty excited that Marco has come to AAA. I’ve always liked his work as far back as WCW. In the interview with Tony he seemed like an intelligent fellow so I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt about jumping promotions.

I guess I don’t dislike AAA or what they are doing as much as most folks. Maybe because it’s the only wrestling I watch but I enjoy it. I mean I’m not experts like most of the gang here but I don’t think I’ve ever not watched a full show. I hope everything works out and the are successful with what they are trying to do.

  16. Hey thank you for positive comments about my change. Trust me it was the best move for me. I always thought that the guys especially forigners that jumped to AAA were assholes but now I see it in a different light. I believe as a forigner you can only go so far in CMLL. With the invasion of WWE on Mexican television I believe you have to evolve somewhat. Yeah you can keep the traditional lucha libre but put a few nice storylines in there with an occasional suprise, a little bit of segments in the back, or lockerroom area. My run in last night was the first run in I did in Mexico. We are in 2009 not 1987.AAA may not be there quite yet but they have the right outlook and goals to survive in this universal world of wrestling. And little by little they are obtaining the necesary pieces of the puzzle that they need to do that. The last 2 weeks have been a stressful mess. I feel I am entering my moment in Mexico and the last thing I wanted to do was change companies in the midst of all this. The next 6 months are vital. You guys dont see it but I have been heavy in the star mags and programs in the television for the past 8 months apart from lucha libre. With one nice push it could be huge. Vampiro or Mistico huge. Its the Hulk Hogan theory for me here. I stick out so much here like he did in the USA in the 80’s. Wether you watched wrestling or not you recognized him because of his distinct look and television apart from the wrestling. But in two and a half years in CMLL not one championship opportunity??????? Then as I promise to you it is my moment to shine in Mexico they deliberatly take me off the big March 20 show????? Thanks. Then I am in a group called solo para mujeres which is basically a chipndales type group made up of actors and me and Perro. It really is not my style but it has generated so much publicity and for sure my lady fans have doubled which has to meen ticket sales from somewhere but they dont want me to do it because Perro is particapating also. OK let him have all the main stream publicity. It all comes down to this….My plan for my career was different than their plan from me. They created Mistico but they didnt create the image of Marco Corleone.I did. If it was up to them I would be chain wrestling old school style applying strong submission holds. Thats boring to me like I was in WWE. So I felt it was unhealthy for me too continue in CMLL. I want a company to basically prostitute my image here in Mexico. And it can. Please believe me. And AAA will.I fought hard to get them on the same page as me, believe me I really liked CMLL. Arena Mexico, tradition, a well accumalated fan base I left. I had like 4 meetings with Paco in the past two weeks. I just felt like they didnt see what I saw for me. Paco said if I wanted to go to AAA he would open the door for me. Unfortunately I kept this a secret from him and rest of world to make the jump. There really is no way to respectfully leave in the world of an impactful jump in this business because the element of suprise. In addition with all my projects going on here AAA gave me a contract I was looking for, with a lighter work schedule and support of my activities outside the business which will only meen more publicity for the company. That is all I wanted but CMLL and Paco had too many people in their ears. For any CMLL fans that may be against my abrupt change, I am sorry. But in Mexico I have been right about my gut feelings and choices. I have created a character and name here that has rejuvinated my career which was uneventful in the past in the United States. I never want to feel like that again and as crazy as it sounds I felt like with CMLL there was a chance I would return there. I would rather not wrestle if I had to face that feeling again. And unfortunately I dont have another profession to fall back on. I will miss my ex workmates, my precious Arena Mexico(with ramp), the ring girls(wink wink) haha, and honestly Paco Alonso (the best boss I had thus far). But I would rather miss them than miss maybe the one opportunity I have left in my career to reach the forum of stardom I have searched all my career. May sound greedy but I tried as hard as I could to obtain that with CMLL. So now with AAA, it is time. We will see and time will tell. I will work very hard with a well oiled game plan as usual, but this time with a company behind me like a stream of water rather than a stream against me. Thank you for all the comments good , bad, or indiferent for they all matter. Thank for just being fans of lucha libre. I have a life I never dreamed of for that reason. Rest in Peace Andrew Martin

  17. It would be funny as hell to play the Ras de Lona interview over this weekend, where Corleone says he’s not going to AAA.

  19. Cubs ur site is gettin famous after super luchas give u the credit for jindrak comment

  20. I thought Perrito was done with CMLL, why would he go back?

I could see a Garza turn, of course it would only be to feud with Mistico.

Cibernetico is either going to stay independent or he is going to jump to
CMLL, because if memory serves me right, Ciber is done with AAA. I’d like for CMLL to steal Zorro and a few other AAA stars because it seems AAA is going to be too focused on foreigners.

Laredo Kid dating one of Gran Apache’s daughters? Wish I was him I know who I’d pick (Fabi)

  21. Message removed because it’s too easy to make anonymous claims and it’s too serious of an offense to let a first time poster make without giving us more than just his word – thecubsfan
