03/17: Televisa posted full results. Let’s go over everything one last time to fill in the gaps and correct the details.

Opener: Aerostar pinned Billy Boy. After the match, Aerostar asked Gran Apache permission to date his daughter. Aerostar did not actually specify which daughter and we are left to wonder. Billy Boy, who should’ve immediatly slapped some sense into the tecnico, said that was all fine and good, because he was now in love with Sexi Star. Like sands thru the hourglass, these are the days of our lives.

6th: Legion beat D-Mex/Charly, with X-Pac chasing Zorro to the back before the finish. Juvi appeared on the stage after the match, with girlfriend Lizzy, and voewed to end the Legion. I fear the inevitable Nikki/Lizzy match (meanwhile, Fabi Apache lucky to be in the opener.)

Konnan brought out Jack & Teddy with him for the hair match, so Marco showed up to take count them and help Vampiro win. It was all a plan by Roldan, who at least has been paying attention thru all the other Konnan matches (where Jack & Teddy always run in.)

Silver King eliminated Parka with a martinete, but then got pinned after he and Electroshock goofed up. I know I said they might as well had Electro win this year, but now that I think about Silver King being right there and not winning, I’m still not sure why he didn’t win. Swerve for the sake of doing one?

Legion ran in the title match to help Chessman. So did the Sect – did I miss something where they no longer hate Chessman? I’m not trying to be sarcastic, I’m really asking. AAA ran out to run those people out and Mesias beat Chessman.

Dr. Wagner Jr. appeared after the main event to challenge for a shot at the Mega title (Wagner had his UWA title, but no one mentions it being title vs title or anything like that). Konnan pitched Wagner to join the Legion, and gave him a one week deadline to decide between sides. I presume Dr. Wagner’s choosing Dr. Wagner.

That deadline means Wagner’s on the Madero taping (and probably the Monterrey) – I hope everyone who has Wagner booked this week has other plans. It also means we’re probably getting Rey de Reyes the first week (with maybe the hair match) and then everything else the second week.

Live Coverage:

AAA’s doing live updates – wow! – so I can do some live updates. I don’t suspect we’ll get the same thing next week. Updates as they come, and I suspect no full results until tomorrow morning.

Dr. Wagner Jr. has shown up. This must be a different Dr. Wagner than the one who’s been adamant about not joining AAA.

Chessman has won the AAA Mega Title. Charly should’ve just let him climb the ladder at Guerra de Titanes and saved us some time. Correction: Mesias still champ.

Marco Corleone has jumped to AAA. It sounds as though he turned out to be Roldan’s representative, not Vampiro. (???) Marco won, of course. I can not fathom Konnan vs Marco as an actual match. Marco worked as Vampiro and Roldan’s second, helping Vampiro win. Sounds like Marco may be in D-Mex as well.

Electroshock is your 2009 Rey de Reyes, beating Latin Lover in the final. The big change on top!

Block A: Black Abyss beat Ozz, Abismo Negro beat Black Abyss, and Latin Lover beat his old rival Abismo Negro to take the block.

Block B: Alan Stone beat Joe Lider, Elegido beat Alan Stone, Silver King beat Elegido.

Block C: Octagon beat Nicho, and Electro beat both Octagon and Super Fly.

Block D: Super Porky was first out, and La Parka beat both Kenzo and Scoria.

No decision mentions for the D-Mex/Legion trios match, but we do know Juvi returned to AAA and joined D-Mex. The comedy potential here is off the charts.

  1. Live results for a major show on the internet? Next thing you know they’ll want to broadcast the major events on some sort of television where you have to pay to view the show! BLASPHEMOUS!

I’m just happy I got my typewriter to connect to this fancy new thing they call the intranet.

  2. Okay… fuck this. My life is over if I can’t see Marco punching Mr. Niebla after he does his dance any more. Worst decision ever.

  3. The gimmick posters are coming out of the woodwork tonight.

On Marco’s jump, I am listening to Tony’s interview with Konnan and there’s Konnan’s surprise of a new babyface.

  4. Chessman finally won the belt! I wonder how that’s even possible unless he still took his usual silly bump and was then dragged on top of Mesias by someone else.

Estadio W or no Estadio W, we really need to do a live chat on Friday. I guess Sombra just found an open slot to work the show.

  5. I don’t know if this is a good decision for Marco or not, but showing up as a replacement for Shocker on Friday only to no show/jump on Sunday is ballsy to say the least. Hopefully he does another interview with Tony to go through the thought process on this decision.

  6. @Alan: You’re right. I was thinking he was in the fourth match for some reason. Either way I expect Sombra to sneak onto the show somehow. There is no possible way you can have Dos Jr., Toscano and Shocker all show up the same night. It’s mathematically impossible.

Now if you REALLY want ballsy – Corleone needs to show up for his Tuesday Arena Mex main and ask to work the show to fulfill all his commitments.:)

@Paco Alonso: How do you like dem apples?

  7. @Rob: I was actually wondering if they had already replaced Shocker with Marco and you were putting Sombra in that spot. I guess this will just cut out the middle man.

I can’t quite picture rudo Chessman as champion. I guess its no worse than tecnico Messias though. I can see a Marco vs Chessman match having the potential to be interesting though.

  8. It’ll be interesting to see what CMLL airs on TV this Saturday after what happened tonight. On one hand you have an unaired Mistico match… on the other hand you’d have to broadcast a Corleone match the same weekend I assume AAA will be airing his debut.

Perhaps CMLL will call an audible.

  9. And now that Black Warrior has been suspended indefinitely from CMLL (AGAIN)… Could it really be this time? I doubt it, but who knows.

Crazy thought on my part thinks that Chessman will lose the AAA Heavyweight Title to Marco, perhaps at TripleMania, assuming Cibernetico is still with Perros. I recall Marco’s interview with Tony at his frustration that in his time with CMLL he had not challenged for the CMLL Heavyweight Title. Could a AAA Heavyweight Title reign promise been enough to lure Marco away from CMLL?

  10. I don’t know whether this is a sign that attendance was dreadful or fans in Guadalajara don’t have internet access but we still don’t have word on whether Maximo is bald or Texanito lost his hair for the first time.

  11. Didn’t CMLL air a Grey Shadow or Kozlov match after they went to AAA? I think it was Kozlov but it could have been Shadow.

CMLL is going to bring in Shima Xion as revenge for AAA taking Marco. That will sell out Arena Mexico.

  12. @ Rob:

Not a knock against Maximo, but when HE is your main event, do you really expect to do a big gate? Hardly, even in Boystown. But it’s clear CMLL doesn’t care.

  13. @J. Corzo Cubby: Well they had Mistico in the semi-main but you’re right. CMLL fucked up. You can draw with Mistico and a main that means something. You can draw with Mistico in the main in a meaningful match. You can’t draw with Mistico in the semi-main and a main that doesn’t mean anything to anyone.

Combine what has to be a shitty GDL crowd with an already reported shitty Arena Mexico crowd (at half price) AND the fact CMLL lost a main eventer which they obviously had no idea about (or Marco wouldn’t have worked on Friday)…

AAA looks to have won the March 15th battle in a walk.

  14. And now the AAA website has confirmed Dr. Wagner Jr. has joined the promotion.

RFC at Lo Mejor De La Lucha originally broke the news about an hour ago.

  15. @Paco Alonso: Even funnier, is that you made your sarcastic statement about CMLL in the thread of an event that should’ve been on some sort of television where you pay to see the event.

  16. Sucks to be Chessman… AAA website now says he didn’t win the title after all.

I would suggest he try to go for the Cruiserweight Title but a dome + Chessman = bad things.

  17. Fun Fun Fun now Corleone is with his pals on AAA how fun will be for them, and good thing that CMLL will just have now good wrestlers no matter who likes or not the thing is AAA is gettin lots of these american dumb bults who just like to do shows not wrestling ha now Konnan and Roldan will be happy their dream to become the WWE region 4 is becomin real cheers

  18. CMLL should bring japanese ones they are fun and with their deal with new japan should be better now to bring a few good ones from there not bults who only dance ( Konnan mention on the interview about a surprise, another dancer like the ones he hates yay Corleone best dancer )

  19. Mesias, Konnan, Vampiro, Silver King, Wagner, Corleone, Xpac, Koslov, Rocky Santana, Zorro, Chessman, Charly Manson, wow to many excellent wrestlers wonder where the old cast will be thinkin like Parka, Octagon and many others are left by Roldan and Konnan the cuban boss

  20. You know with Axel possibly gone from CMLL, you know who could be coming in and might actually have some leverage on CMLL right now if they want to go that route…But, it really comes down to whether or not Paco Alonso wants to bring him in and I guess Santito could ask for a ridiculous amount now that Wagner and Corleone are in AAA.

By the way, how long before Wagner leaves AAA? Too many chiefs on top now with Wagner, Corleone (who I’m sure didn’t jump just to be another guy. I’m guessing he got a good deal to be a main event guy and not in those random clusterfuck trios matches AAA runs), El Mesias, Konnan, Chessman, Vampiro, El Zorro, La Parka, etc. Then there’s still Cibernetico, unless he’s now definitely not going back.

I’m guessing Corleone’s jump officially shuts the doors on any foreigners (exception being whoever works shows due to New Japan). I don’t think it was a bad move for Corleone considering his frustration with how CMLL booked him and the heavyweight title situation, but like I said too many chiefs and lets not forget Juvi.

I can’t wait for Konnan’s portion of the Observer to be available with all the backstage gossip.

  21. It will be very interesting to see if Perro and Cibernetico do anything now. And what about some of the old-timers in AAA like Parka and Octagon? Even a guy like Elegido will be pushed down the card even further.

  22. Wagner says he’s only a part of AAA on the days he’s working AAA. That’s not all confusing.

Cibernetico’s clearly a big loser tonight.

  23. @Alfredo: Funny thing is, I think Axel vs. Santo in an eventual mask match would be a huge draw. Axel turns heel and becomes Santo Negro or something, and loses.

  24. @thecubsfan:

So I take it Wagner’s trying to say that he’s still taking independent bookings outside of AAA?

I agree that it will now be very interesting to see what (if anything) happens with Santo, Perro and Cibernetico. It sure does look like it sucks to be Ciber, but Santo and Perro could possibly have some leverage with Paco.

  25. @Victor Sosa: I think so, that he’s an independent guy who happens to be working on AAA shows. Which is a fuzzy line to draw, since when he was a guy who worked on CMLL shows and his own shows, everyone considered him a CMLL guy. And it’s not like he just made a casual appearance of no importance, he challenged their top guy to a match, which seems like their ideal TripleMania main event right now.

I think we find out much more about what kind of independent guy Dr. Wagner is this week – how many of those IWRG and Groon Tribute shows will he actually make, or will he be busy at AAA TV instead?

  26. Santo vs Axel will never happen.

As for the main guys, I don’t see Vamp lasting that much longer as a full time guy. Probably be like a William Regal type commisioner deal that he was doing and wrestling sometimes at big events. Same with Konnan on the rudo side. Wagner coming in is interesting and I can’t wait to see what happens. Sure it will probably end ugly but that’s the way I want to see it. Octagon hasn’t been on TV since last year and is doing spot shows now so I don’t think he will be that big of a deal. It’s only a matter of time before Manson and Parka get injured again and they will probably stay in the semi main to main scene.

So a Main event scene with Wagner, Zorro, Chessman, Marco, and Mesias with probably Ciber coming in could rule. Of course Chessman and Zorro will probably be doing to jobbing along with the rest of the Legion but that’s normal.

  27. I think we’ll see something similiar to this in a couple of months in CMLL with AAA spots becoming scarce. I’ve got to imagine that Ciber and Perro are talking to CMLL now.

  28. Sorry guys but to me there are two big losers tonight – Ciber is the biggest but Zorro is a close second. I’ll explain why below.

CMLL really looks weak tonight and obviously needs to bust out something on Friday to counter. The WORST thing they could do is bring back Rayo De Jalisco Jr. and Universo 2000 and try to claim those are “stars” who still matter to more than 10% of the current audience. But in typical CMLL fashion I fully expect them to do something like that.

I can’t see Paco bringing back Santo. Perrito has a better chance of returning b/c unless I’m majorly blanking on this… did Perrito ever “diss” CMLL? I thought he just wished them the best of luck and since they didn’t want him to work non-CMLL shows he just decided to become an independant. The only hostility seemed to be when they ran shows opposite his PdM events but it was nothing PERSONAL like the Santo feud with Paco which had both guys speaking out against each other. That’s why I don’t think Santo is coming back. Paco is not gonna go beg a guy who insulted him to return. He’s much more likely to go talk to Perrito and agree to his terms on a return which is most likely Perrito will still work major CMLL events but be able to work as an independant as well as long as it’s not only any shows with Santo or AAA talent. My guess is Perrito will have no problem with that since it’s what he wanted originally.

If I were in charge of CMLL (and not just pretending to be Paco Alonso on the blog) I’d try to get revenge by finding out what Zorro’s contract situation is. If he isn’t locked down – STEAL HIM! If he is – wait it out and then STEAL HIM! Zorro needs out of AAA b/c if you look at what went down tonight – he’s about to be buried beyond belief. He’s fallen way down the totem pole with what went on…

    – He has no title and it appears the title feud will be between Mesias/Wagner.

    – He can’t feud with Chessman or Manson since they will likely be feuding against each other.

    – The other major feud is Parka/Silver King.

The only place he can squeeze in is a feud with Corleone or D-Mex. Doesn’t sound too promising, does it? For a guy who is the best promo in the company and one of the better in-ring workers, being involved in a mid-card feud after a year of being the focal point of the promotion will be quite the letdown. Not to mention when you think of all the egos now alligned with AAA, Zorro doesn’t exactly pop out as a guy who knows how to play the backstage game.

So what I’m trying to say is Zorro needs to get out NOW. It ain’t gonna get any better for him if he sticks around.

If those pieces fall into place and I booked CMLL, I’d bring Zorro in along with Perrito and give them a third. Perhaps Terrible (and Texanito? Or Super Crazy?) or even turn Garza. Make them into a rebel group but don’t call them Los Perros Del Mal. Let Perrito keep that for his indy deal to make him happy. Come up with a stable name and I think you have a nice little group that could spark interest but more importantly – crowds too.

Mistico vs Atlantis is obviously the September match we’re heading towards but how nice would a Garza/Sombra/Volador Jr. and/or Guerrero/Bucanero/Averno/Mephisto (reunite them all) vs Perrito/Zorro/Terrible/Texanito feud sound?

This is obviously spur of the moment booking that needs to be more thought out but Zorro definitely needs to make them jump before the backstage politics end up with him working openers with Billy Boy and Gran Apache.

As for Corleone – he better have gotten a huge raise for jumping b/c with the way things went down I doubt he’ll be welcomed back into CMLL if things don’t work out and that was a gig he could have had for life if he so chose.

Ciber is definitely the loser of this all b/c he has no leverage on AAA any more and CMLL isn’t going to take him. If Perrito rejoins CMLL, that kills an indy outlet for Ciber as well. He may have just played himself into a corner that only leads to him returning to AAA on their terms which means he’s in deep trouble.

Not sure where Axxel fits into all this but I’m pretty sure nobody cares either.

BTW, it’s not a tribute show to Gronda. Nobody would ever pay tribute to that roidhead. It’s a benefit show to cover his medical expenses.

  29. And for those who even care – ByL forum poster Sirenita confirms Texano won the hair match over Maximo in two straight falls. She says attendance was between 4000 – 4500 which is good for that building.

  30. Ciber’s even more screwed now with the way El Mesias looks. That dude is ripped and with the contact lenses, it really feels like they just decided to replace Ciber with El Mesias and move on without him.

Talk about a major letdown with the winner of Rey de Reyes. Seriously, what do people see in Electroshock. He’s like the Brian Adams/Scott Norton of the Foreign Legion.

I like your idea Rob. Sadly, I don’t think CMLL has anyone in charge who’s thinking that way.

Its really going to suck for El Zorro if he slips down the totem pole. He’s easily turned into the best rudo in Mexico right now and his promos are really good. Even his wacky promos, since its part of his ‘character’ to be insane.

  31. Yeah I got to agree that Zorro comes out as a loser for this but I don’t think going to CMLL would help things any better. You talk about backstage politics, If Zorro went to CMLL, he would be looked at like a Rey Cometa or Pegasso: A AAA reject. He’d be lucky if he got any higher than a Mascara Dorada or maybe Texano.

A Garza/Volador/Sombra vs Guerrero/Averno/Zorro feud might be nice but right there Zorro would be 3rd fiddle like a Rey Bucanero is now. If he came in as a technico, that might be better cause he could be that for a while and then turn on say Garza or Volador and you have a mask/hair feud there.

So I guess what i’m trying to say is that Zorro should stick around in AAA for a while because you know all the main heads are going to blow up sooner than later and there will be room for him.

  32. @Alfredo: The way I look at the Rey De Reyes is you don’t need to give it to a star any more b/c they’re already a star, what do they need a giant sword for? Parka didn’t need to win, Silver King didn’t need to win and Latin Lover didn’t need to win. Why they chose Electro Shock I’m not sure as Super Fly or Ozz would have both benefitted from winning the tournament in surprise fashion.

My only guess is this is a trade and Electro was given the win in exchange for dropping his face cover/hair to Super Fly later in the year. Surely they just didn’t give him the win b/c they see an upside to Electro as a main event player.

Now if the AAA bookers are making trades just to please a guy like ELECTRO SHOCK – just imagine the problems they’re gonna have with the real big names by the time summer hits.

  33. Why won’t CMLL take Ciber?

I always thought Electroshock had potential as a main eventer in AAA.

These new changes do wonders for the AAA product in the short term but it seems like it’ll create more problems down the road especially with guys who’ve been with the company for a while.

what does AAA do with the previously mentioned Zorro,

Chessman can forget about being a main eventer for quite a while,

Manson/Parka/Octagon can forget about being relavent with their broken bodies,

Does this mean that feuds like the abismo/abyss & king/parka will be pushed to the mid-card?,

Even if they wanted to bring Ciber and Perro in, there’s no room in the title picture or semi for them.

This makes the title picture Mesias/Wagner for a while, then Mesias/Marco and MAYBE later Electro/Mesias.

None of this takes into consideration the mid and lower card scene, guys are going to have their lunch eaten by either new guys or main guys coming down to the semi.

I think AAA has bitten off more than can chew.

  34. I’m really kicking myself for choosing to do an interview with Konnan last week as opposed to this week like he purposed when he cancelled on Tuesday. Doesn’t mean the door is closed but I guess I should try to get an interview with Marco more so than with Konnan. Doesn’t mean I can’t do both, haha!!! Plus I should probably do a show with cubs this weekend, the idea of having to edit all those shows makes me want to kill myself.

  35. Ok is gettin more interesting about how much have affect the thing that marco leaves the cmll to join aaa cmon he´s not a wrestler is an extra bult who joins to aaa and now everyone is worried for what is goin to happen to cmll? seriously do u think they ever care for that when they have so many talent now and movin the belts and makin interesting match and i know someone will say is not interesting is boring blah blah, but the real thing for me is what is happenin to aaa like some have mention is gettin more and more people who will not do anything after a while and the people will be bored of that, like i wonder what happen with the guy called el padrino??? where is he? or what happen to rellik???? or the other bults what were comin from wwe to join aaa??? konnan is doin nothing just a cheap copy of wwe and for the cmll if they bring back some old school is good or if they bring back perrito is good too or demond jr with the nwa, just i cannot understand why some cares so much cos corleone leaves the cmll, he learn a bit in cmll but he still a big bult who doesnt do anything that stripin or dancin good luck to the fans of aaa who watch it everysunday and wait for the cuban surprises, and i insist tony u should have asked him about fidel castro scrip haha

  36. AAA shaking things up, this is going to be great. Electroshock winning is OBVIOUSLY not the big change at top Konnan was talking about. It’s Wagner and Marco.

Zorro will be fine, he still the second top rudo behind Konnan especially if the Legion is still going. Chessman might fall a bit though.

When Perro Del Mal go out of business, Damian might be on his way.

Paco needs to stop crying and bring back Santo and Perro. CMLL really needs them right now.
