CMLL (TUE) 02/17 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
6) Blue Panther & Mictlan b Averno & Ephesto
7) Marco Corleone & Toscano b Black Warrior & Mr. Niebla

Box Y Lucha has the weekly article dump
Super AAA/Mascara Sagrada Jr. and Mr. Condor both talk about leaving AAA. Super AAA is now wrestling as Muerte Roja (which someone else used in AAA for about five seconds). Mr. Condor is wrestling as Romando Garcia on the UWE shows and plans on teaming with Muerte Roja as Los Nuevos Diabolicos on the indepedent scene. Both are complimentary to AAA but wanted more work.

Rey Bucanero accuses AAA of ripping his idea off for club shows (for the Circus Circus show.) I seem to remember AAA doing it before, but I guess Rey’s point is they weren’t doing it now until he started doing it. Anyway, Rey’s plan is to do it once a month, but they didn’t do one in January because no one had any money.

Gronda II wishes Groon XXX well, so he can come back and feud with him. Gronda II says his new mask it more of a homage (copy) of Hell Boy, because he like’s the character.

Villano III writes about his father falling out of the ring, getting a gun pulled on him by a drunk abusive fan, and knocking the guy “five meters away” with one shot.

– Remembering El Santo, as a rudo.

Luchas 2000 #458 has Halloween rejoining the Perros. Looks like Rayman and Rayo de Jalisco Jr. have fallen out again.

WagnerMania posted video of Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Rayo de Jalisco Jr.

LuchaWorld has Robert on 09/09/07 AAA and 08/27/07 AULL, as well as KrisZ’s news update and 61-70 on the top 100 countdown.

US: 03/28

Okay, now we appear to have everything up to Rey de Reyes, and I still have no idea what the card is supposed to be. Is it just going to be a normal TV taping with a tournament bolted on?

That’s the third time they’ve run that singles match in five weeks.

It feels like they just restarted the Super Fly/Electro feud to give Electro some wins before he loses to Charly.

Super Crazy is listed as wrestling in the tag match, but obviously won’t be here at this point.

The big news here is Super Crazy was telling the truth – he’s not in AAA for the time being. Ultimo Gladiador filled in here and probably will on the 28th. When you consider Super Crazy left WWE because he felt constrained by the promotion, you could see why he might put off joining another one if he’s making it work on his own. The surprise is there’s enough on the independent scene to make it work (and working in Puerto Rico helps.)

Before the opener, they ran their big angle for the show and for Rey de Reyes. Arturo Rivera and Joaquin Roldan apparently got into a fight on the previous taping, because they were in the ring here setting up a hair match. They won’t be fighting, just picking wrestlers to represent them. Arturo picked Konnan, and Roldan has “one week” (next taping) to pick his guy. Doing this angle would seem to preclude them from doing anything about ownership at Rey de Reyes, but we’ll see. Hermandad also showed up in this segment to tell Konnan they’re not working any more because he’s out of cash, which seems like a continuation of the “Konnan is running AAA into bankruptcy.”

Poder del Norte won. It helped that Angel got hurt. Edit: Angel apparently hurt himself on a dive, tried to continue the match, and passed out in the ring

Billy Boy attacked Gran Apache again.

Nicho pinned Laredo. Not good to be an Air Force guy, but at tag team champs didn’t lose another non-title match leading nowhere. Just to add to it, Silver King ran out to beat up Laredo & Super Fly. Parka made the save, but ended up put thru a table by Lider.

Black Abyss actually got a win on his rival. He got Abismo with a martinete, with Hijo de Tirantes looking the wrong way (though, given all the past Abismo/Hijo de Tirantes issues, I think he would’ve allowed it) and then burned Abismo after the match. Abismo was stretchered out.

After the big build, La Parka just beat Silver King clean, though we’re told Parka wants more revenge.

Charly beat Electro clean with the el Pozo (his inverted figure four), with Hijo de Tirantes counting the submission even though he was helping the Legion on the rest of the show.

Next taping on 02/28.

Q’s for next Lucha Listen In?

No guest this time around, but if you’ve got general questions about lucha for Tony and me, leave them below. The plan is to tape this weekend.

If I count fast enough, we’ll go over the tapatia winners on the podcast, along with the usual latest news.  (And thanks again to everyone who voted.)
