Hello to VictorNitro!

Latin Lover & Alan Stone teaming! Intrigue. Luckily, the third member of the team has no similar gimmick in his past.

Oh no, poor Chessman. LET THE MAN LIVE. Or at least get the stretcher ready.

The video package on US TV this past Sunday has me very interested in seeing Zorro vs X-Pac. I don’t know if that’s going to last six weeks, but it’s as good an idea as any.

The great thing about AAA being 3 hours is the opener should air complete and the second match should air complete. Which means we might have a great match out of AAA. This show kinda loses me after the first three, but it’s better than 2008 stuff.

(NO LIDER & NICHO YAAAAAAY)

Next taping is 02/18 in Celaya, so we shouldn’t be so far off from getting that lineup.

02/09 (2): IWRG, #6 Rey de Reyes

IWRG (SUN) 02/08 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. in the comments]
1) Avisman b Imperio Azteca
2) Eragon & Galactik b Judas el Traidor & Shuriken
3) La Parkita, Mascarita de Oro, Octagoncito I b Espectrito I, Espectrito II, Pequeno Boricua
4) Bushi b Freelance, Dr. Cerebro [IWRG IC LIGHT]
5) Fuerza Guerrera b Zumbido [IWRG IC WELTER]

(Excellent photos here)

New champion. Bushi (Tetsuya, who’s been using that name mostly for the last couple months and I’ve resisted changing because his gear has the old name, but I guess I’ve got to give in when he wins a belt) is the 2nd IWRG lightweight champion. This was Bushi’s second shot – he lost to Freelance on Christmas Day in the first ever defense of this title (which has gotten a bigger push with other belts being out of play.) Bushi joins KAI and YAMATO as recent AJPW trainees who’ve found success in IWRG.

Fuerza holds onto the title in his first defense, but has a rematch this week.

AAA’s added Scoria to the Rey de Reyes list. This is his first time in the Rey de Reyes; none of the current Sect membership has ever been in the tournament until now.

Last year, Scoria was in the Alas de Oro (lost) and was in the Pena gauntlet match (lost.) Aerostar was the only one to be in all three annual tournaments (though he at least one of them.)

I’m keeping track of the full Rey de Reyes list over on the show info page, but you can also just check AAA’s partipant list page; they seem to just be editing text rather than putting up a new article for each one.

02/09: Coliseo

CMLL
CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 02/08 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones]
1) Puma King & Tiger Kid b Ángel Azteca Jr. & Sombra de Plata
2) Starman, Tony Rivera, Trueno b Inquisidor, Méssala, Pólvora
3) Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Tigre Blanco b Bronco III, Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis
4) Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara b Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Último Guerrero b Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corleone, Místico

Just like last week, UG stole Dos’ mask and pinned him for the win. That sets up the singles match next week, with the idea that Dos gets a shot at the title only if he beats UG in a non-title match first.

Worth noting Tigre Blanco isn’t in the tercera next week, so that was a false alarm. Also, Poder Mexica is unbeaten in Arena Mexico and very beatable everywhere else. Tecnicos suggested challenging for the titles after their win, which annoyed Sangre.

(Via Box Y Lucha’s forum) There’s a bit more about the AAA-US shows on MexicanWresting.org. The site’s been updated with what looks like a partial talent roster for the show, but it doesn’t explicitly say that so who knows. Amusing to see Cibernetico listed – he may be back by then, or work that tour even before coming back.

El Sol (not available online but mentioned over on RFC’s board) has interview with Cafian 69, who says he’s retiring after next weekend’s matches. If you recall, Caifan was in CMLL last year, getting a debut match in Coliseo that aired on FSE with the idea of regimmicking him and debuting him in the Gran Alternativa, but he suffered a bad knee injury and wasn’t used again after. Not sure why he’s retiring, but wrestling in Monterrey forever probably gets old, not to mention the injuries.

Mr. Reyes posted photos of a CMLL show in Iztapalapa.

Box Y Lucha 2909 has Villanos vs UG/Panther on the cover. Interesting teasers inside include Mr. Condor leaving AAA and “Super Triple A no longer exists!”; surely this shifts the balance! Rey Bucanero is also criticizing AAA of copying him. In my dreams, that’s a parody article, with Rey ironically complaining about the existence of more pirates. Probably not as fun in print.

LuchaWorld has Robert on 08/03/07 AAA and CMLL 08/25/07 (the rise of Mr. Aguila.)
