02/06: Renato Torres, notes

Renato Torres passed away on Thursday. He was on half of a famous team with Vikingo called “Los Hippies” and also teamed with El Solitario. Torress had just been honores at the Guadalajara Lucha Libre Festival.

Octagon is third in Rey de Reyes. He’s not even going to the finals.

While hyping up this weekend’s show, Konnan challenges the local promoter to put his company on the line against the Legion so he can take over Mazatlan.

The Gladiatores has video interviews with Hijo del Diablo, Black Terry, Shu el Guerrero and all three announcing their new trio.

(SuperLuchas) Blue Demon Jr. is hosting a book signing/indy music showcase.

Atlantis visited a kindergarten. Of course he did.

Super Amigos airs in the New York Museum of Natural History’s film festival next Tuesday.

Perhaps the bigger events tonight are in Guadalajara. The Perros and CMLL are running shows tonight against each other.

I’m still leaning towards La Nazi, but it could be any one of those six.

Kinda interesting to note that Axxel is nowhere to be found in any of this. Occasionally, the interviewer (and the quotes are so similar it may just be one interview) asks about the Nieto del Santo deal, and Santo is more respectful towards Axxel than usual while asserting his total control over the Santo name and legacy, but Axxel himself appears to be a non-person.
