CMLL (FRI) 01/30 Arena Mexico [ESTO, Ovaciones]
1) Astro Boy, Hijo del Faraon, Tony Rivera b Apocalipsis, Inquisidor, Pólvora
2) Máscara Púrpura, Máximo, Rey Cometa b Felino, Vangelis, Virus
3) Princesa Blanca b Marcela [MEX WOMEN]
4) Black Warrior, Blue Panther, Último Guerrero DQ Averno, Mephisto, Villano V
5) Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr.
Rudos won the main event when Niebla and Negro yanked Sombra and Volador’s masks and pinned them. Sounds like a tag title match.
Laguneros took the semimain in straight falls when V3 ran in to attack Panther in the second.
Princesa Blanca is the 16th modern champion, and only 2nd since CMLL started using the belt again. Marcela held the belt for near 21 months. There seems to have been some cheating, involving both Mima Shimoda (as Blanca’s second) and even the commission representative, but I’m not clear on what.
Rey Cometa apparently had a quite great dive on his match.
Lineups later, maybe.

Awwww man, next weeks cards look pretty damn fun!! :D
Fridays especially is one of those cards when you really wished there was a full show supplier – from top to bottom it looks awesome.
If Astro Boy can’t look good nxt week, he’d be as well just giving up. I guess gettig to see these lighning matches at all is a bonus, but is there really any need for them to waste about 3 minutes on full entrances, then only air half the match?!….
Glass half-full Henrik! Would you rather see none of the matches?:P
Depending on if the women get held over for next week’s FSE since the feud was built up there, CMLL TV could be fun if the segunda airs with the top two. Otherwise there isn’t much note from last night. Princesa Blanca is an undeserving champ but if this is heading to her losing her hair then it’s perfectly fine build. If they just swtiched the belt to switch the belt then… uhhh… whatever. She isn’t gonna be the new ruda sensation or anything of the sort.
Next week’s lineups did take forever to go up but were well worth the wait!
Tuesday:
Fan appreciation shows are always fun so this should be no different. Good to see the titles in the main event over the semi-main which in theory could also be a main event b/c of star quality. CMLL sure is adding importance to their titles this year, aren’t they?
Don’t want new champs but I’m worried… very worried…
Are Valiente and Virus feuding? It would appear that way based on the many times they’ve been matched up but when do we get our singles match?
MINISTRO! Cool name. I hope that airs b/c I wanna see Super Camaleon.:D
Friday:
That is an ABSURDLY higher than normal match for the mini’s! Something has to be brewing there or this is a reward for the cage match drawing well. Looking forward to the match!
Main is obviously heading to a tag title match on February 13th. (Friday the 13th…)
Not sure where the Villanos/Laguneros thing is going or how Bucanero fits in at all.
Henrik is correct – big week for Astro Boy. His last big show was the Gran Alternativa and he blew a spot horribly which I’m sure many fans still remember. He’s gotta come through vs Caligula and on Tuesday he’s gotta be in top form or he’ll look awful compared to his partners.
Los Angeles first time teaming @ Arena Mexico and it’s in the segunda on Friday! That could also be fun.
If the TV format sticks this could lead to an interesting FSE show in two weeks with the segunda from Arena Mex, Astro Boy/Caligula and whatever random Coliseo semi-main gets booked.
BTW, the fan appreciation show for Puebla was announced and features a mini’s Torneo! 5 on 5! That could be the REAL Reyes Del Aire!
BTW, full Puebla fan appreciation lineup:

There is much confusion over whether that lineup is for this Monday or next Monday though.
CMLL TV feed isn’t working.:(
It never works for me anyway, but at least you can see from the slideshow that Cometa’s on TV :)
Now it’s up and the segunda from last night is on.
Holy fuck. Either Goddess is becoming the new female Head Hunter or another inncent child is about to die.
WHOA! Rey Cometa has our first dive of the year candidate!
What was it, his usual running or top t.b double tornillo?
Oh look, the Televisa crew finally found a new camera to play with for a technology Televisa Deportes segment. What idiots.
HAHAHAHA They announced La Mascara as part of the trios champs for Tuesday’s title defense.
Top 2 for Puebla on Monday don’t look fun at all.
@Henrik: Double tornillo over the ringpost with the most perfect camerashot ever!
EL BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
He finally remembered his roots!
Should I be angry that Valiente vs Hooligan from Ultimo Guerrero’s gymnasium opening wasn’t taped for TV?
woohoo, it’s working for me now for some reason, just in time for momentos. There better be some Sombra/Romnanos :)
Flash had better watch out, Villano III will be stealing his gimmick :-p
Momentos was actually fun. Not a single bad spot in the bunch.
@Rob:
Momentos was actually fun
———-
Main event wasn’t. :(
@Henrik: I didn’t mind it. Slow build to the tag title match. The Mistico/Atlantis stuff may have overshadowed it though.
Well at least i liked Atlantis’s mask. :D
It was pretty uninspiring stuff. A trio who aren’t even really rudos, Mistico trying to do too much, and Volador and Sombra taking the night off & working in cruise control.
I am really beginning to hate Mr Niebla btw; as in, almost approaching Mictlan levels :(
@Henrik: *does the Niebla dance*
@Rob:
AAAARRRGGHHHH!!! NNNOOOOOOOO!!
I f*cking hate that shit!! :)
He used to be one of my favourites too – even up until just before he left for AAA. I remember around the time Mistico was breaking through, i’m sure his first main event was in a match with Niebla. He was still considered a damn good worker then!
I know his knees ar emost probably shot, judging by the way he walks/shuffles/waddles, but if he had to change his schtick, he could surely have came up with something a bit more entertaining and less irritating than this!!
LATV has women’s trios, Pegasso/Comando, and the main from Arena Coliseo.
Perhaps they assigned that high spot on the card for the minis match because it will be Shockercitos debut match without mask and with bleached hair in Arena México. If they want to continue the Princesa Blanca / Marcela stuff when the ladies come back from their GDL show, there won’t be enough room on the friday cards to do noteworthy minis angles.
@Rob: When Ocampo complained about that segment, I was afraid they’d bring it back just to piss him off.
MINIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LET’S GO TZUKI!
Tzuki would have had his feet on the ropes if he were a few inches taller! THAT’S NOT FAIR!
What the heck happened to Nino De Acero? He fucked up a simple flying crossbody and then forgot to kick out in the third fall!
Meanwhile if Tzuki is really working through injuries, those ruditos are sure not taking it easy on him. He took a TON of punishment in that match!
Nice combo there by Valiente.
Dorada blown spot count: 1.
2.
On Wednesday I said…
“Meanwhile it DOES look like Dorada busted out the springboard splits to the floor into a frankensteiner. But it is Dorada so he could have just as easily just be doing a silla, mess up the frankensteiner spot or have blown 10 spots in a row leading to that one insane move.:)”
I was off with the 10 but holy shit is Dorada just stinking it up. I’m glad he hit the insane rana to the floor but his overall performance is backyard level.
FSE wasn’t very good. The Pegasso match was very short and did it really end in a countout after Pegasso’s dive? The hell was that?
EAT THE FEET, SOMBRA! EAT THEM!!! Awesome finish.
Great build to the title match but poor La Mascara. He gets beat up, he gets his mask ripped and he gets low blowed to set up a match he won’t be involved in!:)
So Mistico’s new finisher is a sunset flip powerbomb? Interesting.
Mistico used the Code Red?
That was the finisher for this evening’s Cadena Tres main event of Mistico/Dos Caras Jr./Hector Garza vs. Los Hijos De Averno.
@J. Corzo Cubby: Now that he’s added that and the running somersault plancha to perfection, I think he has my perfect moveset.:D
“Overall a decent show”. That’s how Xavier Hernandez described the AAA Galavision show from Xalapa. Anyone else agree?
