01/24: Mexico, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 01/23 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, superluchas, ESTO]
1) Sombra de Plata & Starman DQ Calígula & Méssala
2) Hiroka, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei b Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori
3) Pegasso b Súper Comando
4) Flash, Stuka Jr., Valiente b Euforia, Okumura, Virus
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza b Averno, Lizmark Jr., Mephisto
6) La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr. b Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

The angle of the night was the semimain. After the tecnicos cruised to another win (Hijos del Avenro are losing a lot, even for them), Villano V ran out and destroyed Blue Panther. Remmeber how Blue Panther got to wear his mask for the campaign against domestic violence photo? V5 felt much disrespect by Panther putting his mask back on, even just for a moment, and has decided he wants Panther dead. Between this, and Tuesday (when V3 was making hair match challenges to Panther), it looks like there’s more Panther/Villanos stuff on the way.

Lizmark Jr. did wrestle, which is always worth noting, but even more so since SoloLuchas put up an article talking with Lizmark Jr. about how he was going to be out six months. Very specifically, in the third paragraph, SoloLuchas says Lizmark will miss this show and undergo surgery. He obvious did wrestle, so who knows about the rest of the story. SoloLucha is fine for results, fine for indy interviews, but for news, it’s been awful lately.

SuperLuchas has Mistico winning the main event with a martinete on Mistica Negro. That’s not La Mistica! That’s also vastly illegal but shhhh.

Okumura replaced Nosferatu. Blanca beat Marcela again, which leads to a title match next week (though ESTO and Ovaciones think it’s a hair match.) No word on the DQ in the opener. I’m going to pretend it was for a closed fist.

Arturo Rivera’s column today talks about the AAA tour of the US (confusing Las Vegas with Los Angeles as the last tour stop) and talks about Super Crazy maybe appearing at Rey de Reyes.

indy (SUN) 01/25 Gimnasio el Ranchero [el siglo de torreon
1) New Warrior vs Camorra Jr.
2) Jerry Brown & Principe Halcon vs Dark Saint & Depredador (Laguna)
3) Halcon Suriano Jr., Piel Canela, Sexy Libra vs Dulce Paola, Gatubela, Junior Halcon
4) Sexy Piscis vs Piloto Negro [ECW MIDDLE]

Sexy Piscis is listed at the champion. Suddenly, I can see the commission points about trying to regulate titles here.

CMLL (TUE) 01/27 Arena Mexico
1) Tigre Blanco & Tigre Metálico vs Camorra & Inquisidor
2) Niño de Acero, Pequeño Ninja, Tzuki vs Pequeño Halloween, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Mascara Dorada, Metro, Valiente vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Shigeo Okumura
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Sagrado vs Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Místico vs Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr.

“Tiger” Metalico? METRO? Is this 2005? I hate time travel.

CMLL (FRI) 01/30 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy, Hijo del Faraon, Tony Rivera vs Apocalipsis, Inquisidor, Pólvora
2) Felino, Vangelis, Virus vs Máscara Púrpura, Máximo, Rey Cometa
3) Marcela vs Princesa Blanca [MEX WOMEN]
4) Flash, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus
5) Black Warrior, Blue Panther, Último Guerrero vs Averno, Mephisto, Villano V
6) La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Just like Poder Mexica on Tuesday, Mistico/Volador/Sombra try to keep their win streak together. Speaking of together, there are the Laguneros again. Women’s match is taking the place of the now usual lightning match (and should go as long.) Felino working the segunda!

CMLL (WED) 02/18 Auditorio Miguel Barragan de San Luis Potosi [SLP]
1) Mascarita Dorada & Tzuki vs Pequeño Damian 666 & Pierrothito
2) Mictlán & Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr. & Virus
3) Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corleone, Máximo vs Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
4) Místico vs Averno [CMLL WELTER]

This was supposed to be Averno & Mephisto defending the titles against Marco & Mistico. Instead, Mistico will put up his title. They’ve still got three weeks to change this again.

Mascarita Dorada’s crazy multiple rotation spinning headscissors on Mini Damian from a couple months ago seems to have gone viral yesterday, popping up in weird places.

  1. Interesting main events at ArMex. Wonder what they’ll build up for the Lutteroth show? Mistico vs. Niebla. Will Atlantis turn and beat Niebla? Or the simpler Mistico vs. Casas mask/hair thing?

  2. There was an angle with Marcela and Princesa issuing hair match challenges, I guess this is a build up for the cage match, so it’s likely it will air today.

  3. I wish Felino would get involved in the Princesa heel turn on tv. I though Princesa wearing the cat suit before turning was a tease, and she’d be with Felino.

Meanwhile, Cadena Tres is cutting programming and salaries. They are supposed to be cutting a live morning news show, and two other shows. I don’t think CMLL is in danger though. It’s cheap programming to begin with. But something to worry about if things get worse at C3.

No shit. My youtube preferences are set to e-mail me when someone comments on a video and I came home to over 800 e-mails.

  5. *** 4) Sexy Piscis vs Piloto Negro [ECW MIDDLE] ***

Last week we get a WWF Minis Championship, now we get an ECW Middleweight Championship?! Lordy, when does the WCW Tijuana Cruiserweight Championship return? (Nicho el Millonario could bring it back for AAA, who knows right?!)

  6. I’m not so sure the women are going to air on TV today b/c the feud has been airing on FSE the entire time.

“SuperLuchas has Mistico winning the main event with a martinete on Mistica. That’s not La Mistica! That’s also vastly illegal but shhhh.”

He tombstoned his own finisher???:P He probably used that same finish on Negro that he did to retain his title. I wish he’d stop doing that. Such a non-tecnico move and comes off as a total copy of Averno and Mephisto’s finisher.

What’s with all the revenge matches next week? Maybe they actually have something planned with the Stuka/Valiente/Flash vs Euforia/Nosferatu/Virus group? Tag title match coming up with Sombra/Volador vs Negro/Niebla?

Tuesday looks fun. Will Tzuki show? By my calcultations… yes! A new Metro? Or is Fabian back in the gimmick? Maybe Neutron can only get a TV booking if he pretends to be Metro? Do you think anyone has told the Poder Mexica that those three tecnicos are not trios champs so there is no point of having a revenge match?

Friday looks good also. Dorada in the segunda makes sense. Felino… not so much. Working below his wife too, that’s gotta make Negro smile. Interesting to see Rey Cometa being seperated from Pegasso. The Laguneros thing is just retarded. I just saw straight weeks of Puebla shows where Panther/Warrior were fighting each other.

And finally… why do we have a Camorra Jr. already?

  7. How is everyone’s feed? Mine freezes at times. I go to xej’s website and click ‘en vivo’. Does anyone here have a more direct link that works better?

  8. Nope. Feed is doing the same to me. Playing choppy at times and randomly skipping forward to break the lag.

  9. Someone in the ByL forum just pointed out that Virus is booked in the segunda and fourth match on Friday. I totally missed that.

  10. Thanks.

Look at all this per inquiry and public service junk. You don’t even see fast food on this show. But the wrestling is still the best.

  11. I do too but I’m sure that’ll be 5 years down the road.

Interesting though over on the SuperLuchas page by someone saying perhaps Warrior is going to turn on his partners next week and start a Poder Mexica vs Laguneros feud. Interesting only b/c it would be fucking hilarious to see two Laguneros feuding with… Laguneros.

  12. They don’t even show the scoreboard showing rudos/tecnicos, and the bullets showing who won which fall.

Now I see why Alex Koslov is mad at Hector Koslov for stealing his spots.

  13. Who is Alex Koslov?

Lizmark Jr. not knowing where his spot was in the triple suplex was hilarious. Keep trying druggie!

  14. Warrior turning would at least give the Laguneros something to do besides fighting the Villanos. And it would finally give Poder Mexica something to do.

Of course, they could also run an angle where Ephesto has to choose between the Laguneros and the Hijos del Averno. Maybe have him stand in the middle of the ring and rip up a Hijos del Averno tshirt and cut a promo explaining that he never understood why he got back together with him after they abandoned him for the Perros a year ago. And then in a few months they could all start teaming up again without explanation. Oh wait, that wouldn’t make any sense at all.

Did they just cut the Villano run in from the tv show?

  15. @Rob: Lots of the Virus lightning match. They seem to air a lot of the lightning match highlights on the Momentos lately.

  16. Good point Alan. They didn’t show any angle with Villano. Televisa sucks ass. 28/Cadena Tres should be the flagship show, and Televisa should get the Tuesday show. This way CMLL’s best show is not butchered to death, but CMLL keeps the national coverage of Televisa.

  17. Man… we go from a graet triple dive spot to the most messed up finish ever. Why do Mistico and Volador keep trying that if they always fail at it and why would Sombra do his splash even though he saw the previous spot was fucked up big time? Strange.

  18. That whole show wasn’t very good. I missed most of the opening bout, but missing the angle to set up next weeks match (and who knows how much else), the botched finish of the second fall of the main, and the confusing finish to the third were all very odd. I don’t normally complain when Villano V is not on my TV, but if you are going to run a major angle, it should at least make your show. Maybe they could have run one fewer promo for the women’s cage match.

Hopefully Cadena Tres makes up for it.

  19. Exactly. That’s why there’s no doubt that CMLL should just make 28 their main show-taped Friday, and Tuesdays will be for Telerisa. Telerisa is more worried about getting that Tony the sketch-artist on tv.

Morales could not even get the date right the first time for the women’s cage. And he should not be promoing a house show during the main event.

  20. @LLL: Cadena Tres should have the Roman Emperors in action so no doubt it’ll be better.:)

I also don’t see the logic in hyping the local Guadalajara cage match on a national TV show.

  21. @Rob: You don’t agree? I’m surprised.

Well, the GdL thing was overplayed for a national broadcast, but it’s better than buying time locally, and paying out of your pocket. CMLL is still a house show company. I hope it draws a sellout. Would be funny as hell if they taped GdL that night for Televisa the next day.

  22. @Alan: What cable system? I know 28 had trouble with Cablevision and SKY. What’s good about 28 is that they only run about 8 minutes of advertising per hour, compared to 18 on Televisa, so we see more of what happens.

  23. I’m a bit nervous about C3 after last week skipping the segunda. I’d be pissed if that happens today.

  24. @LLL: No no, I agreed with you and Alan. The cage should have been mentioned in the carteleras de la semana portion of the show and nowhere else.

@Henrik: Don’t worry, there is no way they are airing that opener or if they do it’ll be a 5 match show. I’d love for them to skip the tercera though but can’t see it happening.

Next week they better not touch the segunda.:P

  25. @LLL: We get it on Cablevision in Mexico City. Not sure about Sky or Cablevision in the rest of the country. Pretty much the only thing missing from Cablevision here is 52MX, but I’ve given up on that.

  26. Not a repeat. It’s the new episode with Mistico/Black Warrior. And Blanca looks like 1999 Jeff hardy with boobs.

  27. Now that’s a pretty funny description of Blanca. I have to get a converter box in Tampa, b/c Brighthouse is not carrying the channel.

  28. Are they still showing the lightning matches on FSE?

Not too bothered about this weeks (although it would be fun to see Virus make Purpura a few inches smaller) but we have to see Pegasso/Comando next week!
