What I know that I didn’t know this morning

Well, lucha-wise.

LATV has picked up the Guerreros del Ring episode which used to air on Fox Sports Espanol. Check their website for availability.  Airings are 7pM EST on Saturday and Sunday, and maybe Wednesdays at 11. Your cable guide listing may not have this show listed yet, but it’s there. The hope(/worry) is LATV won’t start airing reruns (as they do for Ras de Lona) or randomly move it around (as FSE did.)

The 52MX version of this show is still only on that channel, which means the minis cage match may be lost to the wind. Unlike FSE, LATV is airing the same episode the same week as airs in Mexico, so this week was the Blanca ruda turn, Euforia/Stuka and Sombra/Volador/Mistico vs Niebla/Bucanero/Warrior, and next week is Warrior/Mistico.

AAA aired a Best of on Galavision (US) today

It wrapped up with TripleMania, clearly part 1 of 2. Besides illuminating that the period just before, thru, and after Rey de Reyes was the company’s creative peak for the year, this means Xalapa and Chilpancingo got one week of tapings each, and Accion was confusing the issue with it’s highlights. I was right when I started guessing, less so after.

They also got their 2h30m timeslot back in the US.

AAA announced their upcoming tapings (last week)

I’m slow. This was on their TV show.

  • 01/25 – Salamanca
  • 01/31 – Plaza de Toros Joan Sebstian, Chalco, EdM

Next Week’s CMLL Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 01/20 Arena Mexico
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Molotov vs Carrona & Cholo
2) Astro Boy, Metálico, Sensei vs Calígula, Hooligan, Méssala
3) Máscara Púrpura, Máximo, Mictlán vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Skandalo
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Sagrado vs Black Warrior, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca
5) Averno, Mephisto, Villano III vs Blue Panther, Mark Corleone, Místico

Poder Mexica looking to extend their Arena Mexico streak, and since we’re making a deal of it, they stand a good shot. Main event is obvious V3/Panther stuff. Romanos making allllll the way up to the second match!

CMLL (FRI) 01/23 Arena Mexico
1) Calígula & Méssala vs Sombra de Plata & Starman
2) Hiroka, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei vs Dark Angel, Marcela, Sahori
3) Pegasso vs Súper Comando
4) Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus vs Flash, Stuka Jr., Valiente
5) Averno, Lizmark Jr., Mephisto vs Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza
6) Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs La Sombra, Místico, Volador Jr.

Pesta Negra, actually teaming up. I hope this is another win for this tecnico trio – they may actually be establishing a set tecnico team. Dos Caras going back to dealing with Lizmark is fine for me (except to watch it.) Look, Flash & Stuka fighting Euforia & Nosferatu, a shocking turn of events. Pegasso vs Super Comando could be really good. Does Blanca make the challenge this week?

LATV actually aired a new episode of Ras de Lona this week

Of course, it’s covering everything up to last week’s cage match, but better.

If you ever wanted to know exactly how much the heavyweight title means to this promotion, it’s given a ten second still picture summary, after interviews with Cosmico (third string mini), Sensei (novato! hurt and no one knew!), and Arkangel (theorizing about a tecnico turn.)

Definite proof of Mr. Niebla starts at the 9:34 mark in the first video.

This one features Sangre’s awesome outfit.

  1. ALSO: I can watch 5h30m of lucha for recapping purposes (though it helps when one is a best of.)

  2. Like we figured, losing FSE would be better off. I can’t wait to see if they adjust the show for LATV, and pull out the constant references to FOX with the models and microphones.

  3. @LLL: They didn’t this week, that’s for sure.

It does still air in Mexico on Fox Sports, so either they’ll mention both or neither.

  4. “The 52MX version of this show is still only on that channel, which means the minis cage match may be lost to the wind.”

You spoke too fast. Wagnermania just posted on ByL saying he recorded 52MX and will put the cage match on YouTube MANANA!:D

  5. Boy Cosmico was trying to kill himself on that second dive there.

I can’t believe Tzuki no-showed the interview segment! He missed his first chance for promo time! HOW WILL HE EVER BE ABLE TO JUMP TO AAA AT THIS RATE?!?!?!?!?!?

  6. This LATV thing confuses the hell out of me. I found their affiliate in Dallas, but damn if I know how a channel known for shit like America’s Next Top Model and other tripe like Gossip Girl is gonna show CMLL, considering they dropped Smackdown from their line-up last year because they wanted to “move away” from that sort of thing.

  7. And your AAA TV lineup for 1/25

1/25 – Gimnasio Lazaro Cardenas de Salamanca (TV taping)
    1. Mascarita Divina/Mascarita Sagrada/Mini Charly Manson vs. Mini Abismo Negro/Mini Histeria/Mini Psicosis
    2. El Angel/Gato Eveready/Pimpinela Escarlata vs. The Psycho Circus (Killer Clown/Psycho Clown/Zombie Clown)
    3. Aero Star/Elegido/Laredo Kid vs. El Brazo/Decnis/Pirata Morgan
    4. Abismo Negro/Gronda II/Super Fly vs. Black Abyss/Teddy Hart/Zorro
    5. El Mesias/La Parka Jr./Silver King vs. Electroshock/Joe Lider/Nicho el Millionario

  8. *LMAO* Joe Lider/Nicho headlining a TV taping.

The long-term booking is very obvious when you have the Psycho Circus teaming with Chessman on one show going for a title shot and then working a segunda on the next show against a makeshift team like they would have been doing exactly a year ago.

I shouldn’t complain though b/c there is a lack of foreigners which is a good thing. I just fear the reason things are so slow to start off is b/c Konnan is still trying to bring in a few more buddies of his and he doesn’t want to start any angles till he is ready to have the spotlight to himself.

  9. BTW, due to football last week the AAA show in Mexico only aired the top two from Xalapa. So all that debate about KENTA in a ladder match won’t lead to anything since it’ll never be seen.

Not sure how Chilpancingo will be effected but I’d guess the same top two will air.

  10. Who else can Konnan bring in at this point? Everybody seems to be lock up in contracts. His boy Homicide just re-sign with TNA. Low Ki is with WWE,Briscoes is tied up with ROH,he have no connections to WWE guys. I think he ran out of guys, seriously.

All the new free agents like London,Venis, and Holly would never sign with AAA because of the money. They might work a show or two but that’s it.

  11. @Rob: I’m pretty sure the ladder match aired last week. I only caught part of it, but KENTA seemed to be involved as much as anyone else in the parts I saw.

Today’s show aired earlier than I expected, so I only caught the main event (Latin/Parka/Mesias vs Konan/Electro/Zorro). Not sure how long they had on air, but it ended when the NFC championship started.

  12. @Alan: Oh really? I saw Chessman/Zorro starting the show and tuned out figuring there was only an hour left so all that was left was the main.

Shame they aired the show earlier. I would have tried to catch it otherwise. The year end show is always fun and the undercard looked good.

  13. @USAUSA1: “Who else can Konnan bring in at this point?”

Chuck Palumbo, Mike Sanders, Elix Skipper, Sharmell, Shane Douglas, Kid Romeo, Disco Inferno, Reno… all his ex-WCW buddies.

  14. @thecubsfan: I guess after having Bucanero beat Maximo and Azteca beat Mictlan, CMLL couldn’t resist any longer and had to pull the trigger on a pointless title switch.

  15. “*LMAO* Joe Lider/Nicho headlining a TV taping.”

    I’m missing Stamb… that Rellik guy already…

  16. I also miss the times when I wouldn’t become Anonymous after a few hours… hehe, on the upside, having them in the main event at least makes the rest of the card decent, save Gronda II of course.

Payasos being in la Segunda doesn’t meant that much, Pena had Black Family main event Guerra de Titanes 2005 and in the Inicial a few weeks later…

They are missing a match though, now that they’re back to 3 hours.
