Questions for Lucha Listen In (Episode 4)

Tony and I plan to tape another podcast this Sunday. If you’ve got a question you’d like to be answered, please post in the comments below. We should have plenty of time for questions this time around. Thanks!

  1. 1) Prediction for the mini’s cage match now that we know all 13 guys.

    2) Who should be the next foreigner brought in by AAA: Jenna Jameson or Tiffany Taylor?

    3) What do you think CMLL will do with the Heavyweight Title if Dos Jr. leaves without dropping it?

    4) Who should be the next male foreigner brought in by AAA: Peter North or Ron Jeremy?

  2. To answer #2, Tiffany Taylor. Jenna is pregnant with twins. No way Jenna gets out of the country with two kids in her belly that have the size of Tito Ortiz’s forehead.

  3. @RyanM2K: But if they bring in Jenna they can sign her twins to future contracts ensuring the success of AAA 18 years down the line since they’ll have Tito Ortiz Jr. and El Hijo De Tito Ortiz headlining.

    *LMAO*

I’m just kidding. No way AAA will be around in 18 years, let alone months.

  4. when will Cibernetico make has return?

will Marco Corleone be the next cmll heavyweight champ?

with hf2 in the dog house could you see Romero/Kozlov OR LEREDO KID/SUPER FLY WIN THE AAA TAG TITLES?

  5. How long has the secta been champions?

Why doesn’t Espiritu wrestle with la secta only on some ocasions?

what happend to the night queens?

Doesn’t the new AAA product SUCK?

  6. Speaking of…

SuperLuchas reports (via the AAA website) that Rellik has left the promotion.

At least they didn’t bring him in, put him in the main events, have him squash everyone in sight and treat him like he was superior to the entire roster.

    Oh wait… they did.

    Another fine show by Konnan!

Tomorrow’s poll should be two parts:

    1) Who will be the new foreigner brought in to replace Rellik? (the choices can be a list of every WWE wrestler released in the past year)

    2) Yes or no: Is USAUSA1 bright enough to see understand how bad this makes the AAA roster look?

    Discuss.

  7. 1. Besides firing Konnan and getting rid of the Foreigners, How else can AAA improve?

    2. Will Freelance ever got to CMLL?

    3. What are your thoughts on the PERROS promotion now that they have ran a few shows?

    4. What’s the deal with Damian working that AAA show?

    5. Do you believe that USAUSA1 is really Rob’s alter ego?

  8. Will NWA Mexico get a tv deal if Ric Flair becomes the tv figurehead?

Will the Perros Del Mal join AAA?

So who should take Villano V mask this year?

So when is CMLL going to catch up?

  9. What is with Konnan’s ring attire? I mean, seriously. It’s hard to be taken seriously (by me, at least, and maybe the bulk of American fans not wholly familiar with Lucha) if you’re the top heel and you dress like that. These aren’t the days of Max Moon or Superbrawl VI when the happy-go-lucky babyface Konnan beat One Man Gang to retain the U.S. Heavyweight title. Is it a pride thing? A ‘legend’ thing, if you will? A tradition? Tassels do not for a good bad guy make.

  10. @USAUSA1: “Catch up” to who? WWE?

Flair doing an angle in Mexico to lead a group of heels to get the NWA belts back would actually be a great angle. A series of vignettes running on the “ArenaTron” vowing to bring the belts back to the US would be cool. But Flair would want too much money.

I don’t see NWA Mexico getting tv at all.

  11. I would love to know what “catch up” means as well.

TV? AAA production is terrible. The editing between matches is beyond amateur. The same crowd shots five times in a row during one match? Is a 13 year old youtuber editing these shows? What about filming one video recap of a feud and airing it non-stop for 2 months straight? How about airing a blown spot just as you come back from a 30 second crowd shot? It’s amateur hour.

Booking? I don’t even need to explain this one.

Style of wrestling? AAA has had one fall matches since roughly 1999. They’ve been using the six sided ring since 2000.

The fact that AAA is running angles from 1998 should be proof enough that they are the ones who need to “catch up”.

Maybe by “catch up” he meant in terms of attendance but he’s already refused to acknowledge the fact AAA has been drawing the same crowds for many years now, even before the Konnan dictatorship kicked in.

I guess AAA hardcore fans are just like their booker – douchbags who lie to themselves and can’t even explain their own statements.

  12. Questions:

    1. Do you think CMLL’s TV situation in the US improve in 2009?

    2. Do you think Konnan will last the entire year in AAA?(every promotion he has worked for, he has left on bad terms).

  13. The crowd shots and replays of botched spots on AAA will only worsen if they get the 3 hour slot back. TV Guide says they will, but we have not heard anything official.

  14. When do you think AAA will finally realize that they need to stop bringing in has-beens from America like Sean Waltman, Rellik as well as unreliable talent like Nicho El Millionario and Abismo Negro?

  15. Sean Waltman is still a great wrestler, don’t sleep on him. I love the team of Lider and Nicho.

  16. RE USAUSA1, I was refering to the fact that pushing Waltman is holding back pushing good homegrown talent like Laredo Sky, Aero Star and Super Fly and also that Nicho is pretty much a flake. He got fired for stealing a car dude.

  17. I guess we’re all behind the times, huh USAUSA1? I wish I could go to the future like you… a future where Joe Lider is fun to watch…

  18. What’s the final verdict on who/why/where/when/what is up with black abyss and/or abismo negro.

  19. I noticed on AAA’s website that they are using different lamps to illuminate the ring. Looks a little better. Can’t wait to see how it looks on tv.

  20. I’m watching AAA from Orizaba. Not bad compared to previous weeks. Fewer of those long vignettes. AAA did indeed change the lighting, and it looks better. If only they can run 90 minutes every week, the show would not drag.

  21. I’m C3ing tonight, and everyone else is out I guess, so I have no life. They announced a 1/6 Arena Coliseo show as a special event. Let’s hope they don’t go back there for good on Tuesday’s.

  22. Why? I hope they do go back there. I’m watching it too and this women’s match is putrid like usual.

  23. At Coliseo, the lighting is hung too low, the balcony is dark, and has that ugly chicken wire to stop fans from throwing stuff down at ringside.

  24. So? I like it much better than Arena Mexico as it feels more old school. I could care less about the lighting.

  25. Coliseo is a great venue. I’m just talking for tv purposes, elevate the lighting truss, and illuminate the fans in the balcony, and it’s much better.

  26. Another problem with Arena Coliseo DF is that they aim the camera so that the aisle is in the main shot. They should move the camera(hard cam) so that the fans are in view.

  27. And Bam Bam tries to kill himself on a dive. Holy crap that was bad. I’d say it was worse than the Nino botch a couple months ago.

  28. At least Bam Bam appeared to get his hands on the floor before he hit it, absorbing some of the impact. Hope he’s ok.

  29. Volador got real lucky he didn’t break his neck on that powerbomb early in the main. For those that didn’t watch, Volador tried for a hurrcarana but Ultimo reversed it to a powerbomb, Volador tilted his head straight back and it looked like he was going to go headfirst into the match but luckly he moved his head and took the powerbomb clean.

  30. Low Ki in AAA would be pretty cool. AAA would be smart to sign him. I can’t picture him in CMLL but I guess it could work.

  31. Hey Cubs, do you have a URL for the podcast? thecoolkidstable.com seems to be having some domain name issues.
