12/14: Guadalajara, Monterrey, KENTA

the horse was really tall/CMLL
"look at the size of that horse"/CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 12/14 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [MT]
1) Calígula & Méssala b Ángel Azteca Jr. & Hijo del Faraon
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Princesa Blanca b Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei
3) Bam Bam, Tzuki, Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Máximo b Infierno, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero b Blue Panther, Místico, Shocker

Big day for Mr. Niebla, as he snuck in a foul on Mistico and pinned him for the win, after Mistico had gotten Atlantis was La Mistica.

Blue Panther replaced Hector Garza in the main event. As far as I can tell, Garza hasn’t wrestled since dropping the tag team titles last Sunday, missing two straight shows here, and he’s mentioned as off this week’s big Monterrey show. The reason given there is a knee injury, but you never know these days.

Infierno replaced Heavy Metal in the semimain. The semimain is where the loud gunshot like noises took place. The sequence of the events seems to be there was two explosion noises, and no one really thought much of it until police rushed towards the area and a third (possibly louder) noise was heard. That caused, a panic, with the wrestlers leaving the ring and the fans moving away from it (though the sound seemed to be coming from elsewhere). After a few minutes, the wrestlers came back out and calmed the crowd down, and the show continued. There was no explanation given to the crowd. Over at el Martinete, they posted Metro GDL’s story on the show, which has Apolo Dantes saying nothing happened in the arena (it was a noise outside) and the reporter finding no incident reported at the police station.

Attendence here is listed as 6,000 (sellout? – the Metro says over 5,000). In an article looking back at the weekend, MT says both shows on Sunday combined for 10,000, so that’s 4,000 at the (more expensive) lucha libre Festival show.

AAA (SUN) 12/14 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [rfc]
1) Baby Fox b Sicario
2) Ejecutor & Mr. Secuestro b Diabolik & Guerreor Blanco
3) Rio Bravo & Tito Santana II b Aguila Extrema & Virutal X [AAA NORTH TAG]
4) Decnnis, El Brazo, Escorpion Negro Jr. b La Momia, TDN, The Tiger
5) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b Cuervo, Escoria, Tiger Cota

There’s a photo of the title belts at the link.

ESTO and Ovaciones preview tonight’s big title match. ESTO notes Dragon Rojo Jr. clinches Rookie of the Year if he wins the title tonight and may have it already with a mask win and the Gran Alternativa. Ovaciones has snapshot bios of both men.

Dragon Rojo is 80 kg
Sangre Azteca is 81 kg
(the welterweight limit is 78kg)

Ovaciones also gives Sangre Azteca’s successful defenses as 8, and the number of past champions as 67. Sangre Azteca claims far more than that, the only place 8 is listed is the luchawiki. You’d think that if the wiki’s info is good enough to use as background for a story (either in Ovaciones or if CMLL gave the number to them), someone could actually mention it in print at some point.

I’ll do an AAA poll soon, I promise.

The Las Vegas Sun writes about a lucha libre show there over the weekend. They list it as drawing 2,450.

ArenaQRO @ Multiply finishes it’s look back at the year in Arena Queretaro shows. I need to go back thru this and fill in my gaps.

Notiver confirms KENTA is in the ladder match. Local dark match is Erick Montana, Gladiator, and Super Pitufo vs Ricky Estrada, Espartacus and Guerrero Totem.

Following up on what SuperLuchas previously reported, SoloLuchas says RAW moves to Canal 5 starting January. This is written as a move for the city viewers and not just a duplication on a different day/time, so I would imagine AAA might be getting a third hour back soon.

Stuka and Flash celebrate keeping their titles by letting us know how much Christmas means to them.

Kcidis looks at Super Pinocho taking Pandita’s mask.

Superluchas looks back at Dr. Wagner Sr. vs Canek.

Guerreros del Ring #170 has Fuerza Guerrera on the cover.

CMLL (TUE) 12/16 Arena Pachuca [el sol de Hidalgo]
1) Averno & Mephisto vs Místico & Volador Jr.

AAA (SUN) 12/21 Salon Sagitario
1) Cinthia Moreno & Sexy Star vs Fabi Apache & Mari Apache
2) Alan Stone & El Elegido vs Escoria & Mesias
3) Cibernetico & La Parka Jr. vs Konnan & Zorro

It looks odd for Cibernetico to still be working spot shows, but the story AAA gave out is he’d still be working off TV until the end of 2008. So he’s got 10 more days before we can call shenanigans (and they can make up a new story.)

AAA (FRI) 12/19 Plaza de Toros San Jose, Morelos [luchalibreaaa]
1) Atomic Boy & La Parkita vs Mascarita de la Muerte & Mini Chessman
2) Billy Boy & Fabi Apache vs Cinthia Moreno & Oriental
3) Alan Stone, Chris Stone, El Elegido vs Decnnis, El Brazo, Escorpion Negro Jr.
4) Alex Koslov, Gronda II, Rocky Romero vs Jack Evans, Kenzo Suzuki, Teddy Hart

That’s an epic main event. Note AAA has a roster to run another near-TV taping lineup on the same night they’re taping the last show of the year. Working process of elimination, this could leave Jerrito Estrada for the mini ? and probably Polvo de Estrellas for the Pirata ?.

  1. I look at the picture and can only think “Whiskey for my men, BEER for my HORSES!!”

    Billy/Fabi Vs Cinthia/Oriental:

If I am a betting man, Billy turns on Fabi and leaves her to be beat down.

  2. There always seems room in a AAA shit-fest latter match for a superior, out-of-place worker. Danielson, Kenta — who next? Nishimura? Nayoa Ogawa?

  3. It’s interesting that u mention about garza cause he’s scheduled to be at a lucha show here in el paso on sunday, if i can find the card, i’ll send it in.

  4. “3) Bam Bam, Tzuki, Último Dragoncito b Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito”

    Fantasy worked for Tzuki.:(

  5. Tercera Caída just aired highlights of tonight’s match. Dragon Rojo, Jr. took the first fall with a slingshot powerbomb. Sangre took the second by countering Dragon Rojo coming off the top rope with a drop kick. And the third fall ended in a double count out. Why have a tournament to determine a number one contender only to have the match end in a draw?

  6. Actually, i was just informed that he actually cancelled for sunday, don’t have a reason though, but it could cause he got deported, which, i had actually forgotten about that.
