CMLL Arena Mexico season to end on 12/12

Today’s Ovaciones says 12/12 is the last Arena Mexico show of the year. They speculate about Averno/Mephisto vs Garza/Mistico and Dos/Terrible matches as a main event for that show. CMLL plans on resuming Arena Mexico shows 3 or 4 weeks later (01/02 or 01/09). I’d presume they’d run Arena Coliseo on those days instead, but it seems like that’s just one possibility (another possibility may be not running shows on some of these days.)

CMLL last ended the Arena Mexico show in December of 2005. They just kept running the normal schedule in 2006, and they were running everything in Arena Mexico in 2007 due to construction around Arena Coliseo.

This may also signal a change in TV programming; Tuesday’s shows have been taped in Arena Mexico because (as I understand) Cadena3 wanted it that way. They’d surely have to sign off on the change in venue.

AAA has one more pre-holiday taping (for airing in 2009), but this date coupled with Guerra de Titanes on 12/06 means the year in major lucha libre is pretty much over by the second Friday of December. (I may even be able to take a vacation!)

  1. There was one C3 show (1/1 or 1/8/08 – forget which) that got taped at Arena Coliseo so I would think they wouldn’t be opposed to Arena Coliseo but they prefer Arena Mexico.
