The first show of the Konnan era brings us…
AAA TV (MON) 11/17 Domo de la Feria de Leon [AAA
1) Billy Boy, Gato Eveready, Gran Apache vs Rio Bravo, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana II
2) Aerostar & el Ángel vs Jack Evans & Teddy Hart
3) Alex Koslov, Rocky Romero, X-Pac vs Crazy Boy, Oriental, Ultimo Gladiador
4) Latin Lover vs Zorro
5) ?, La Parka Jr., Súper Fly vs Kenzo Suzuki, Konnan, Rellik
…I had no idea Konnan was such a Latin Lover fan. In fact, I’d think he’d specifically said otherwise. Like the taping two days prior, this lineup is changed from what had originally been suggested. The ROH-ish guys did not end up being brought in; in Konnan’s F4 interview, he said they were being expected for 2009. (I do need to write about that at some point. Quite a range of emotions on that one.)
Which those guys not here, there’s really not any loud difference from any other show AAA’s done, despite the big storyline. Subtly, we’ve got three undercard matches which should be athletic acrobatic matches. The tercera doesn’t make much sense from a tecnico/rudo standpoint, but that’s not the design.
Latin Lover vs Zorro is inexplicable from many levels. I am now convinced Zorro is going to lose and lose a lot until the end of the year, where he will fall backwards on a pin to win the title. I’m not sure if I’m opposed to that.
The main event is no different. This is the first show Cibernetico is now longer part of AAA, so he’s the odds on favorite to be the surprise. That’s how it works.
Though, if Konnan’s supposed to be running AAA, how is this man supposed to be a surprise? Doesn’t Konnan make the matches? Shouldn’t he know? Maybe it’ll be Electro and it’ll just be another sad day for Super Fly.

Don’t kill yourself trying to point out the storyline flaws. You’ll drive yourself nuts. Also you might wanna cut down on noting the shows look the same w/o the promised foreigners b/c the wrong people might be reading this and think you are actually campaigning for as many fresh new foreigners as possible.:/
I like the show. All the matches work for me. Billy/Apache teaming is actually historic as it’s the first time they will ever be teaming (Billy as Alfa doesn’t count!) on AAA TV. They’ve probably teamed in some parejas incriebles match on a house show at one point. Tossing Alan in only makes it my new favorite trio in AAA!
Match #2 is just begging for me to bust out the obvious line of: “One of these does not belong.”
Oriental is back. How random. Are Rocky and Alex really going to be able to go from the light CMLL style to taking 10,000 half-blown moves per match from Crazzy Boy and company?
Could Super Crazy be the surprise, or does he have a non-compete with WWE for three months?
@LLL:
i beleive that Crazy had the option to wave the 90-day no compete clause (he could choose to wrestle nowhere for 90 days and get paid or wave it and wrestle anywhere but TNA (for 90 days) immediately and not get paid). i guess its possible but i figured that CMLL would go pretty hard at trying to get him.
Cubs, on AAA taping chart the link for the Cuenavaca line-up goes to the entry on Barba Rojo instead.
Barba Roja… ;).
@Just noticed: Should be fixed now
I guesse we’ll find out in the weeks to come why Latin Lover and Zorro are having a one on one match.
But for now I say who cares, what matters is that Latin Lover is on the show.
@LLL: It’s funny L3, I had the same thought about Super Crazy as you being the surprise, but then I remembered he does have that 90 day no compete clause.
I’m actually going to stick to my guns and also say it’s Cibernetico, untill I am proven wrong. It’s logic, he leaves AAA but comes back to save AAA from Konnan, makes absolute sense really. Ciber leaves AAA to come back to save AAA.
Memo to Ciber, the Joker makeup? Let’s never do that again.
So how do they explain Cibernetico coming back? Just say he left AAA, but he’s now LLL, therefore he can still wrestle?
L3?
Who knows, maybe Super Crazy should’ve been patient. He might’ve been cut anyway
Ciber is coming back as the Midnight Rider. That’s my prediction.
@LLL: I think you hit the nail on the head, he is LLL. Technically the Legion is too, so I wonder if Konnan has dissolved his LLL status now that he owns AAA, or maybe they’ll just ignore that like they’ve been doing for so long now.
@Tim: LMAO. If he talks like Dusty Rhoades I will laugh so hard.
