Tonight’s previews: Ovaciones, Notimex, ESTO, SoloLuchas.

Everyone’s big story is Mistico, how he’ll wrestle, how people will react to him, and how many people will show up. The main story for comments tomorrow will be Who Is Mascara Dorada? The focus has been on either Metalik (still wrestling in Guadalajara frequently, but doesn’t have any matches known past Wednesday) or Astro Boy (hasn’t been listed in a month, except for that match Metalik had on Wednesday.) Whoever it is, they’ve got a lot to live up to between claimed to be as good as Mascarita Dorada and clearly being one of CMLL’s big projects for a future. Those three rudos can make just about anyone look good. (Not as sure about the tecnico crew – if you want someone to look like the sensational new guy, why force him to compete with Sombra on night 1?)

AAA.com links: soon to be ex-Roldan will be giving an interview on La Oreja, with is like the missing half hour of AAA lately. They’ll also be part of the GDL lucha libre expo thing and spotlight all the office people. Their next taping is this Sunday.

In related coverage, Volador, Sombra and Sagrado would like a shot at the World Titles. It worked for the Oficials, and these guys are mentioned as having nine defenses so they’re even farther along. The highlight of the link is a picture of Sagrado hanging out Hooters.

Yesterday, Ovaciones had an interview with Perro Aguayo Jr. about his new promotion. Not a lot new; they may run their first show in December, but that’s not definite. They’re talking with two television outlets, one over the air and one cable (TV Azteca and TVC Deportes, I’d presume) but nothing set there. The usual independent names may work the show (Wagner, Park, Super Astro, Solar, Canek and they’ll talk to Demon and Santo as well.) Perro’s opening his doors to people in CMLL and AAA unhappy with not being used that much, and wants to have cheap, accessible tickets. He’s also talking about modernizing the product somewhat.

Today’s Ovaciones notes column says Barba Roja AND Pirata Morgan Jr. have left AAA. I wonder if they mean Hijo de Pirata (the fake son) instead of the real shorter/fatter one. It’s said to be another ‘not enough work’ departure.

WagnerMania talks about weight division in CMLL, and Hart Foundation II.

The Gladiatores has a video interview with Adam Pearce, before he lost his title.

SoloLuchas talks to Black Terry, Gato Eveready, referee Reyes Rosas, Yakuza of AULL.

Some press for El Hijo del Santo in Madrid.

I refuse to acknowledge the bidding war of Chuck Palumbo.

Some lineup notes. Bucanero will put his CMLL LH title vs Wagner in Puebla on Monday, but the full lineup isn’t up yet.

AAA MUNOZ (WED) 11/19 Auditorio Miguel Barragan [el sol de SLP]
1) Rio Bravo vs Tito Santana II, America, Simon Blanco, Alex Steel, Chipre Dance, Principe Leon, Dragon, Principe del Futuro [ciber]
2) Estrellita & Sexy Star vs Lady Apache & Tiffany
3) El Alebrije, Pimpinela Escarlata, Super Porky vs Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown
4) El Elegido, La Parka Jr., Silver King vs Alex Koslov, Rocky Romero, X-Pac

Rocky will forever be listed as Ricky Romero in articles. The first five guys listed on in the cibernetico are listed as AAA wrestlers, FWIW.

CMLL (WED) 11/19 Cancha German Evers [noroeste]
1) Angel (GDL), Barbaro, Nocturno vs Dragon Lancer, Stripper, Valentin Hernandez
2) el Conquistador, El Forcado, Serpiente Marina vs Brujo Mayor, Marakami I, Marakami II

  1. I think it(Mascara Dorada) may be any number of people. Perhaps it is one of the other two members of La Fuerza M which would be Metal Blanco or Metatron. I don’t see why it would be Astro Boy, he will always be saddled as Mistico’s less talented brother who is still better than Argenis and Metalik is doing solid on the Colisco shows.

  2. I want to believe that Perro will put out a good product and actually build something, I want to believe that. But I just have this feeling that he is either going to go back to EMLL or return to AAA.

Who is Mascara Dorada? I believe, like Tim, it could be someone we have never heard of.

  3. Wait when did I say that? I’m probably right I guess. Whoever it is, it’s doubtful they will be as good as the mini Dorada.

So what’s the deal with Lady Apache on the AAA card? She leave CMLL already? Or was that a typo?

  4. @Tim: Gotta be a typo. Didn’t even notice it when I typed it, but it’s there in the article. Must mean Fabi.

  5. I’m now leaning towards Metalik. The only thing about that is, i’d have guessed Ultimo Guerrrero/Olimpico would’ve won in GDL earlier in the week. But that’s not a meaningful clue though, that can be put down to CMLL bookers for different shows/territories all living in their own little world and not speaking/co-ordinating things with each other.

The more i think of it, i just can’t see it being Astro Boy. He would be guaranteed to bomb. And at the risk of suggesting that the decision makers in CMLL may have at least a couple of brain cells hidden in there somwhere, even they can’t be that stupid surely…..

If they’re going to go with someone in the company, Bam Bam would be as good as anyone for it. After all, Mascarita’s a small mini, why shouldn’t Mascara be a small regular guy? They could probably even do worse than Fantasy also, not that that’s ever going to happen. Maybe they’ve signed Freelance and this is his gimmick! :)

I also wouldn’t be all that surprised if it turns out to be some green rookie nobody’s even mentioned – someone like Angel de Oro for example. That Super Cameleon trainee was supposed to be a crazy flyer too, wasn’t he?

  6. Man I’d like to see two of those Arena Mex matches from Thursday! *L*

IMO, Mascara Dorada is down to Astro Boy, Metalik or Super Nova. The best thing about not knowing now is tomorrow we’ll know for sure since all three have such different flying styles. I’m guessing Sombra will be ultra-toned down as to not overshadow whoever it is and La Mascara will work as hard as he can and still not even come close to overshadowing Dorada’s debut.:)

Wagnermania posted video of Mascarita Dorada handing the gimmick over. Why CMLL would show this on their news show that nobody sees and not the main show is just… well… anyways – here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya9FNxnJ1jw

If you’ve ever seen clips of the Metalik/Jeque feud where Metalik got his mask yanked they might have just given away who is playing the gimmick but they could have just used him for that segment.

  7. Box y Lucha is reporting the original Abismo is back in AAA so count on him to be the ??? on Sunday’s taping.

They also have a picture of La Lluvia.

  8. i think the suprise wrestler might be super crazy since he was supposed to be in mexico wednesday for a meeting with AAA

i remember the metalik/jeque match metalik had curly hair so it is likely him

also the konnan interview was posted on wrestlingobserver.com pretty interesting he said all the cmll wrestlers had their guaranteed contracts cut in half so that is why perro jr left and that cmll took the mask off blue panther because they want whoever beats villano v to become a superstar he also he confirmed wanted to bring in the us indy guys because they would show high flying wrestling that hadnt been seen before in mexico and would make AAA different from WWE

  9. Rudos won the especial.

Semi sounded like botchmania (because of Sombra, it seems) and La Mascara took the match with la campana, proving than power plays might come and go but being the son of the union’s leader… priceless.

I think they cut the third fall off since I went for a beer between 2 and third fall and went I got back, the show was over.

    Attendance… 4000+

  10. It looks as if WWE is starting its move out of the country, as RAW has been moved from Gala to Canal 4 on Mondays nights. Well, it doesn’t specifically says if it’s been removed from Gala but neither they say if it’s staying there.

  11. @Rob: It was known by everyone on this board that WWE would run into problems with Televisa. Timeslot changes, channel changes. It’s funny how we all knew it, and Shane McMahon didn’t.

  12. What? Everyone was spelling doom for AAA and CMLL, they’re not being shoved under the rug like WWE is…

  13. Shane is supposed to be a businessman who does his research before signing deals.

@xuisaw:”Everyone was spelling doom for AAA and CMLL”

    Everyone includes Keith, BTW.

  14. @Rob: That’s what I’m saying, CMLL and AAA are going through their worst times in the last 4 years, and still kicked WWE out to little seen and mostly locally programing Canal 4… well, AAA anyways, I’m surprised WWE didn’t try to get CMLL’s timeslot…

  15. @Rob: I was not spelling doom for CMLL. I think CMLL would be fine with Cadena Tres and MX52 and Fox(which is big in Mexico).

Besides, RAW is airing on Mondays all over the country, not just Ch. 4, according to the link Cubs provides in today’s update. It also says RAW will also air on Sundays as well.

  16. @LLL: Televis press release doesn’t say it will be ketp on Sundays, and Superluchas is saying it won’t.

It has been proved several times that attendances drop when CMLL relies solely on CTres, MVS and FSE.

  17. @Tim: Yeah. Things are so bad, WWE was just here in central Florida, and didn’t even do house shows the weekend of RAW and Smackdown. I was at the 800th RAW in Tampa, and the crowd was good. I heard Orlando didn’t do very well. But no house shows is a bad sign.

  18. Well it was election day so I’m not surprised they didn’t do so well on Tuesday. They aren’t doing house shows that much anymore. I don’t blame them. Plus the guys had a couple days off to prepare for the 2 week European tour that they are on now.
