AAA #857 (11/01)

taped 10/05, aired 11/01

I didn’t dislike this show as much as other people, but it was pretty useless. When the highlights include X-Pac reading a prepared statement, it’s tough to come up with video. So, let’s stay goodbye to Vampiro…

…until he’s back again. Actually, I enjoyed Vampiro as a trios wrestler this week and last and now I hate the stupid brawls even more.

At least they clipped up the main event, if they were going to clip out things.

11/08-09 Lucha Times

chart

AAA-US: The One With All The Angles. Also Ciber/Zorro one more time. Online, this show is listed as 2 hours. My TiVo still has it as 3 hours. I think it’s 2.5.

FSE: Should be the start of Stuka/Flash vs Infernales build, unless that feud has gotten bumped elsewhere. Random mix main event.

52MX: Minis match from Friday? Panther/Dos/Marco vs Warrior/Niebla/Buca

CMLL-MEX: Usual time. Everyone tries to figure out if Mascara Dorada is Astro Boy, Metalik, or Halcon Negro. Also, that Mistico dude.

AAA-MEX: Second half of the Pena show? Maybe? Perhaps?

C3: Panther vs Averno, Wagner tease a rudo term…

Projected Air Date (#863)
Mexico: 11/24
US: 12/14

The foreign wrestlers were supposed to start on this show, and plans have changed. That’s why we’ve got the odd team in the semimain (why would HF2 team with Mesias?) As a result, this show – the first of the Konnan era – looks not too far off then the ones before it.

The DGM and women matches have been discussed. I like the idea of Alan and Chris continuing to team, but after seeing the match on this past week’s TV, I’ve got no real desire to see it again. Semimain could be fun, even if it doesn’t make much sense. Main event…will be a match.

If you recall, the taping before has a mysterious spot on the tecnico side in the main event. No obvious clue here.

The next taping is two days later, and may be the last before Guerra de Titanes. It’d be nice if we had a clear idea of a match (or a location or a date).

AAA wishes Barba Roja good luck in his future endeavors

Of all the WWE homages AAA’s doing, this bit remains my favorite. Don’t be mistaken by my mirth, he’s surely gone. And also showing up in IWRG within three weeks.

Comment suggestion: speculate on how Barba Roja did not fit in Konnan’s New AAA. FAKE BEARD = NOT SERIOUS ENOUGH.

In other AAA news, they opened new offices. Of course, there’s a plaque for Antonio Pena.

(also, I think there’s a taping lineup there too that I should be posting.)

two quick notes from today’s Wrestling Observer

link is here, but that should only work for subscribers, and you should subscribe to get all the details. This is just to head off the second hand misunderstandings.

  • Perro Jr. and CMLL are NOT on good terms. Perro Jr. and Perro Sr. wanted to take over booking and Perro Jr. was going to run his own shows to build him up as an outsider, but the booking arrangement fell apart in the Lagunero upheavel (seems like Perro was the indepndent guy who too much booking is focused on that they were complaining about), and now Perro, Damian and Aguila are true free agents. AAA’s top guys don’t want Perro taking their spots, and Perro’s only willing to go to WWE if they take his partners too. Aguayo is talking about running his own promotion with TV Azteca, but IWRG reupping their deal today with them and WWE having SD! on the network may preclude it.
  • There IS one more spot open in WWE – Super Crazy has quit, unhappy with how (little) he was being used
