10/11: Mexico, Rey Jr., lineups

CMLL (FRI) 10/10 Arena Mexico [sololuchas, superluchas, La Afficon]
1) Sensei & Starman b Calígula & Méssala
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Flash, Máscara Púrpura DQ Dr. X, Loco Max, Skandalo
3) Mictlán, Sagrado, Stuka Jr. b Dragon Rojo Jr., Ephesto, Mephisto
4) Heavy Metal, Lizmark Jr., Negro Casas b Hijo del Fantasma, Marco Corelone, Volador Jr.
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza b Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

Tecns won the main event in two falls, clean. After the match, the Villanos returned to attack Blue Panther. Dragon Rojo ran down for the save, then Ephesto and then finally Ultimo Gurerero decided to help out too. It seems the Lagunera guys have decided to rally around Blue Panther in his fight with the Villanos, which leaves three questions

1) all the guys who made a save were rudos – is Panther headed that way?
2) is this a one time, or an ongoing faction? What does this mean for the Guerreros?
3) Hooligan’s totally going to be involved, right? Please say yes.

In the semimain, the rudos got DQed for excessive violence, but they kept on going to win the second and the third (Lizmark foulding Corelone without the ref seeing it.)

Dragon Rojo replaced Virus, which makes sense in retrospect to get Dragon Rojo in the building to make his save. ESTO says Stuka replaced Valiente because Valiente is/was hurt from a head injury.

Skandalo grabbed Flash’s mask for the DQ in the second. Tecs took it in two.

Rey Misterio Jr. talked to Notimex. If there was a question about the recent Ovaciones stuff, it did not make it in here; this was more focused on the Dos Jr. rumors (Rey didn’t know if he was coming or not, but thinks he’s got the attributes to do well – he’d really love to have Perro Jr. in WWE though.) Rey’s NOT on next week’s WWE Mexico tour, since he’ll be with the RAW brand in Puerto Rico unless things change at the last minute. Rey’s was happy with RAW’s debut rating and fine with Televisa moving the show to a later hour, because it makes it “more flexible schedule”.

SoloLuchas interviews Bestia Negra, who talks a bunch about his pre-refereeing wrestling career. I wish SoloLuchas next page links were a bit more visible (or everything was just on one page, because you can apparently make them as long as you’d like.)

The next Dos y Tres magazine has the Psycho Circus on the cover.

Robert recaps 04/02/06 AAA, 04/16/06 CMLL and 04/20/06 IWRG

I guess Rockin’ Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu really is a bitch though b/c at the end of the fall he went for a slingshot somersault senton dive and HORRIBLY blew it.

CMLL (TUE) 10/14 Arena Mexico
1) Carrona & Cholo vs Molotov & Sombra de Plata
2) Calígula, Hooligan, Méssala vs Angel Azteca, Angel de Oro, Hijo del Faraon
3) Leono, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr. vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Vangelis, Virus
4) a replacment for Alex Koslov, Máximo, Mictlán vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Ephesto, Olímpico
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara vs Misterioso II, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero

As you’ll see, they had no idea Koslov was jumping, because he’s booked like normal next week (and probably the weeks after.) Not really surprised they still put his name up in the lineups after the rest of the world knew, because they probably didn’t know.

Hey, look, Hector actually teaming with his former title partners after they’ve stop holding the titles! Could be there’s just no other top tecnicos on this card, but let’s pretend they planned it that way.

CMLL (FRI) 10/17 Arena Mexico
1) Axel, Flash, Metalik vs Loco Max, Nitro, Skandalo
2) Máximo, Sagrado, Valiente vs Felino, Heavy Metal, Sangre Azteca
3) a replacement for Alex Koslov, Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza vs Averno, Mephisto, Terrible
4) Blue Panther, Ephesto, Último Guerrero vs Villano III, Villano IV, Villano IV [ri]
5) Marco Corelone vs Lizmark Jr. [hair]

Lizmark is teasing a surprise for his second. (Lizmark Sr.?) Since it logically would’ve been Alex, I’d guess Marco’s second will be a surprise too. Hey Marco, just don’t pick Mistico, that worked out really poorly for the last guy who did that.

AAA tapings results in a little bit.

  1. Whether the lineups are printed in advance or not – Alexis types them up after the Arena Mexico show on Friday. So to leave Koslov in both lineups is inexcusable. CMLL is guilty of false advertising and stupidity. I wonder if the bookers live in such an extreme bubble that they still refuse to believe Romero and Koslov have actually left. I mean these are the same guys that thought Dos Jr. would just be wearing his CMLL Title in the WWE.

I wish XEJTV was working as I’d like to see the TV show today for the tercera and the angle. (BTW, I think the rudos won the tercera)

I haven’t found the ByL post Chui is refering to but Cesar does mention in another post that if the Laguneros have taken over in power we could see some more interesting movement in the mid-card matches as well as a new change in the wrestling style which would be nice to see.

Segunda should be a ton of fun! That’s a dream rudo trio right there. I fear for a Leono/Vangelis hair feud.:/

It will be very interesting to see if this Laguneros thing is just a spin-off feud or whether it’ll be addressed when the Laguneros team with other guys. For example – are Dragon Rojo Jr./Efesto going to turn on Olimpico? Will Stuka Jr./Hooligan still fight when they are booked opposite each other? Or is CMLL going to go the route of just saying Guerrero, Wagner, DR Jr., Efesto and Panther are all Laguneros but nobody else is. That would be silly which is why I could totally see it happening.

    “CMLL (FRI) 10/17 Arena Mexico”

That’s Dr. X’s trio in the opener! Guess he’s leaving. Not really sure why the semi-main is listed as Relevos Incriebles since Panther/Ultimo/Efesto all joined together last night and raised hands together.

Will Marco show? I’d say yes. AAA doesn’t have a ramp built yet. *L* But seriously… I’d be worried if I were CMLL but if anyone in the promotion has even a single solitary brain cell – if there is ANY evidence that Corleone may be jumping ship, the smart thing to do would be to cancel the match early in the week. Corleone/Lizmark isn’t going to draw anyways but it’d be much worse to have the match set and have one guy no-show with the few fans who show up being disapointed in the end. Heck, just like the old days they need to lock Corleone away till Friday and threaten bodily harm on his family if he doesn’t work the match.:P

If next Friday comes and Corleone doesn’t show – it isn’t his fault. CMLL has many options to cover their asses in the next 6 days. Let’s see if they come out looking like fools once again.

Paco’s gotta be anxious to bring in more foreigners, huh?:)

(Let’s also not discount Lizmark Jr. no-showing.)

  2. They’ll put Mictlan there and say it’s Koslov.

I don’t think Corleone will no show, but what about… coming to the ring bald? He can say that that has been his look all along, or maybe shaving today and getting to the Friday show with 3 mm of hair…

  3. Next weeks lineups at least look a bit more interesting and Tuesdays card looks fun for the first time in about 2 months. Thank f*ck for no women. They should elevate Leono up to Koslovs spot in the semi to keep all the shit together, then put a good midcarder like Flash in the tercera. Whens Super Nova due back btw?

Friday doesn’t look great. it’s a weird card as it’s not particularly loaded with names, but most guys are still working about a spot lower than usual.

The Lagunas thing sounds weeeeeird, but i’ll wait and see how it pans out. Of course, no matter what faction comes out of it, it’s still going to be nothing when compared to the great Los Laguneros. :)

Fingers crossed for this rare trios opener to air on C3. I really want to see it.

  4. Did it air? I forgot about C3 due to hockey which is gonna be tough from now on.

Does C3 still air a repeat tmrw?

  5. Fantasma and Misterioso just nailed the old Re Jr/Psicosis handspring onto shoulders onto twisting rana spot. Neat :)

  6. Hey, you know that simultaneous tope/moonsault combo spot that Sombra and A.N other have been using this past 2 or 3 matches, d’you think it could work if the guy hitting the tope hit a tope con giro? :D

The moonsault would have to have huge air, but surely some crazed locals trying to make a name for themselves have tried it in AAA openers before. You ever saw it done?

  7. I will never get tired of watching Sombra work.

Hmmm… interesting question. I’ll think it over during the third period of the Leafs getting demolished.:)

  8. Whatever that spot in the segunda was looks amazing and I hope makes Momentos (although Momentos could be done for good as the last two weeks were repeats for no reason at all).

It looks like Azteca Jr. did a sunset flip over Flash somehow to the floor and rolled Skandalo over right into position to take the asai moonsault? That’s insane.

  9. 4TV, Televisa’s channel for Mexico City just ran a commercial for Friday’s show, they have the semis as RI with Ultimo, Genaro and… Sombra.

But, they also had Alex Koslov in the 3rd match so I guess it was a very old commercial.
