SoloLuchas talks to people who’ve dropped by the hospital to visit Scorpio Jr.: his wife, Cibernetico, Mesias, and Tiffany. Despite leaving, Scorpio’s still close with the AAA crew; Tiffany mentions it was Histeria who let her know what was going on. Tiffany says she’s still with AAA and thinking about returning in about four months, but right now spending time with her new child. Mesias talks about meeting Scorpio for the first time 13-14 years ago, when he first came to Mexico. Cibernetico says Scorpio’s looked better every time he’s seen him. Scorpio Jr.’s wife says the suddenness of Scorpio’s illness caught them by surprise, but they’re hoping he’ll be moved out of intensive care this weekend and be able to go home next week.
Zumbido takes Scorpio Jr.’s spot in the 10 man hair/mask cage indy match next Sunday.. Apparently, at the press confrence to announce this, Zumbido blamed Intocable for Scorpio’s ulcers and vowed revenge. Intocable denied he caused the ulcers, of course.
Can’t wait till Friday? Ovaciones has Mictlan unmasked today. It’s not totally on purpose, but kinda dumb to have a picture of Dragon Rojo ripping Mictlan’s mask so you can completely see Mictlan’s face one day before the mask match. The article itself is the updated card; Mr. Niebla/Dr. Wagner Jr. is still the main event (and they have to be doing an angle with those two to justify it) and the card listed below has the women’s match moved up past the CMLL/TNA match.
Univision talks to women wrestlers in Mexico, mostly with Cinthia & Rossy Moreno and Lady Apache, about what life is like when your career is wrestling.
Univision also runs down the list of CMLL injuries. No news – I think that’s even an old picture of Mistico in a sling.
Random Hoy Internet story about the rise and fall of Juvi. Fuerza sold bird cages in between matches?
AAA previews Sunday’s Arena Solidardad taping with previews of Mini Abismo vs Atomic Boy, the women’s tag, Jack vs Aerostar, Vampiro & Tecnicos vs Mesias & the Sect, Zorro vs the Hell Brothers.
CMLL says their wrestlers will not be at Banda Ancha this weekend, because they were never contacted (and even then, almost all are hurt or working elsewhere on Friday.)
Everyone being on vacation in Spain is partially blamed for the disappointing attendance at the CMLL shows. I gather people going on vacation in August is not a good thing, why schedule it then if it’s such an issue? I’m sure it was part of an issue, but probably not as much as no one knowing who these people are and a market that’s been coming so over saturated so quick (look, LA Park, Santo and Mil there next month!) that the novelty of going to a random wrestling show has worn thin. I’m happy CMLL is trying to expand their business and giving guys opportunities to work more places (and make more money), but you’ve got to actually make it work rather than just declaring it a victory for existing at all.
The other thing is, when someone runs a tour with quarter-filled buildings and the biggest stars for the next tour will not be healthy by then, you don’t believe they’re going to run that second tour until they announce firm dates and buildings.
Conozca Mas has a cover story on Santo.
LuchaWorld has Robert writing about 52MX , ACMonterrey and Lucha Libre Azteca. They’ve also got KrisZ’s lucha report from last night.
As suspected, Oriental will indeed be at the 09/20 CHIKARA show in Streamwood. The main event is the Super Smash Brothers and Oriental vs Mike Quackenbush, Hallowicked, and Incognito. Go buy tickets now.
This is a no win situation for guessing at CMLL; this PPV is last minute, I have no feel what the plan is and am completely guessing.
52MX: Panther/UG has to be airing here, because they’ve built it up. And…the segunda from here instead?
FOX: I had a theory they might move the semifinal over to the main show, but no, they’ve got Atlantis vs Mr. Niebla as this show title. So, that and the women’s trios. This show repeats next Saturday, if baseball doesn’t over run.
AAA-US: I believe this was the first episode cut to 2 hours in Mexico. It’s listed as 3 hours here. Usually, we get hopes up for more footage or CMLL getting snuck in, and they just add an hour of other filler programming. That’s probably what’ll happen here.

CMLL-MEX: If they did Top 4 last week, that doesn’t leave them much but repeats. Perhaps they’ll chose to repeat one of those weeks they got pre-empted?
AAA-MEX: Jack & Teddy vs Ricky & Crazy, Aerostar and Super Fly sneak in the main events and are roundly punished for it.
CTres: Top 4, give or take 1. Don’t step to Blue Panther, he will armbar you and make you cry.

This splices together the News, Events, and Videos feeds. The Photo has them uploading fifty pics in a few hours and not actually linking directly to them, so I’ve left that off. The Video feeds don’t seem to include direct links to the videos either, but will take you to the page where you can find them.
And that’s the main difference: instead of getting the link to http://10.100.80.101/triplea_bkp/ and having nothing work, this subs in http://www.luchalibreaaa.com/ so the RSS feeds actually link to the article they’re notifying you about.
CMLL (SUN) 08/24 Arena Coliseo
1) Angel de Oro & Trueno b Apocalipsis & Inquisidor
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Sensei, Tigre Blanco b Calígula, Dr. X, Méssala
3) Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda b Lady Apache, Princesa Blanca, Sahori
4) Averno, Mephisto, Villano III DQ Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Universo 2000
5) Blue Panther b Último Guerrero
Panther won the main even clean, and it sounds like the final fall was a battle of putting on and escaping submission holds. I’d love to see that match.
Lots of subs in the third (V3 for V5, Negro and Niebla for Sangre and Heavy). Niebla figured he was losing and decided he was better of fouling Negro.
Rudas won the tercera in straight falls, Amapola taking the second with a sunset flip and a hand holding onto the middle rope.
CMLL (SUN) 08/24 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Virgo b Ebola
2) Rafaga & Super Maquina b Idolo & Oro II
3) Magnum & Neutrón DQ Exterminador & Infierno
4) Axel, Casanova, Thunder Boy CO Malefico, Máscara Mágica, Toxico
5) Misterioso II, Mr. Niebla, Texano Jr. b el Gallo, Marco Corelone, Rayman
6) el Gallo & Sagrado DQ Black Warrior & Terrible
I don’t know about these results, because they only mention Mistico in passing and Rey Bucanero not at all. In stuff they do mention, Misterioso pinned el Gallo again, then came out to attack him when he worked the main event. That was the first fall DQ, and the second fall DQ was Warrior pulling Gallo’s mask. For those who came to see Mistico, this was probably not something that was going to make them too happy. Neutron got his mask yanked by Exterminador in the tercera.
CMLL (TUE) 08/26 Arena Mexico [ESTO, CMLL]
1) Inquisidor & Semental b Sombra de Plata & Starman
2) Bronco III, Hooligan, Loco Max b Ángel Azteca Jr., Metálico, Tigre Blanco
3) Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Metalik b Arkangel de la Muerte, Nitro, Skandalo
4) Alex Koslov, Maximo, Valiente b Euforia, Nosferatu, Sangre Azteca
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Volador Jr. b Averno, Mephisto, Mr. Aguila
Only Dos Caras Jr. made the scheduled main event. Hector and Shocker are out , but no idea why Metal, Niebla and Negro were all MIA and I had the wrong rudo side. Sombra was missing from the semifinal, replaced by Maximo. On the good side, Metalik made his match; he falls down a lot, but he does seem to get back up a lot. In his match, Nitro yanked Flash’s mask for a first fall DQ, and Flash led the tecnicos to a second fall (and sweep win.)
Ovaciones’ update on Mistico’s injury joins the building consensus that he’ll be out six months. Meanwhile, Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, El Brazo are among those who have visited Scorpio Jr., who’s still in intensive care.
Friday’s CMLL show will be on PPV for 199 pesos ($20). Heck of an advertising job they’re doing for that. I would buy the show for that, but realize I would be one of the few. If they draw 10,000 for this show, CMLL should throw a party.
There’s a short blog entry on one of the CMLL Spain shows on “Desde este lado del mar”.
Mistico is exposed in Chilango magazine. Not his face, but they tell his real background and discuss CMLL coming up with the “orphan who lived with Fray Tormenta” story.
Televisa’s Director of Consumer Products says the AAA Movie is due out November 2009, and they’re working on voice overs next week.
El Manana talks to Espantro Jr./Pentagon I.
CHIKARA says Oriental is working with on their Cleveland, Ohio show, which makes me think he may be in Streamwood the night before. Oriental wrestled in the promotion in 2004, so this is a return. If only he beat Cassandro to hold onto the CHIKARA Lightweight Championship!
Wonder whatever happened to Violencia? A post on Box Y Lucha says he’s wrestling in Guatemala.
Local wrestlers in Colima want the local government to form a box y lucha commission.
indy (THU) 08/28 Arena Olimpico Laguna de Gomez Palacio [El Siglo de Torreon]
1) Cadete de la Atlantida & Espacial vs Camorra & Oso Negro Jr.
2) Calakita & Mini Maximo vs Pentagoncito & Ricky Estrada
3) Brillante I, Dorado Jr., Sexy Piscis vs Mr. Guerrero, Sexy Francis, V-57
4) Huracan Ramirez Jr., Rey Patriota, Stuka I vs Black Star, Luminoso Jr., Psycho
Didn’t think about it until now, but Mini Maximo wasn’t at the CMLL Minis party.
So I said all I needed to said about the hair match between the last post and the recap. The Volador injury did not look like it was his fault, but I could be wrong on these things. I think that match could be really good if everyone was trying and not injured, so I’m disappointed plans appeared to have changed.
Was this the first week where they had a really bright light on the left side all night? Because it really distracted me here.
I can imagine Bam Bam dropping the title back to Mini Damian in a month or two, then getting put under a mask and moved to the regular wrestler division. I can also imagine Bam Bam turning rudo and working as Pequeno Perro Aguayo. The point is, I can imagine a lot of things that certainly won’t be happening.
Pequeno Damian is the best.
