Mistico out three months, Garza out three weeks

CMLL.com confirms Mistico’s injury in Guadalajara yesterday. It is a fractured collarbone, and he’ll be out at least three months.

The big news here is, next time, they’ll be able to run an actual return show. No word on his replacement for Friday. It would seem like they have to change the card order.

CMLL.com also says Garza had an operation on his right knee, “due to the attack by Mr. Niebla & and Negro Casas” on Friday. That Perros run in is still odd. He’ll be about at least three weeks.

08/25: notes

There’s a report (xrudox @ el Martinete) that Mistico seperated his shoulder Sunday in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara. Sololuchas says Mistico was taken the hospital in DF, which is a bit of a trip. There’s discussion down in the comments that it may be a collarbone injury, Mistico’s had surgery (which would explain why he went back to DF to do it) and that’d put him out for the Anniversary show. CMLL hasn’t said anything yet.

No new news on Scorpio Jr., excepting SuperLucha just confirming what SoloLuchas had previously written.

Luchando Libre has a long obit for El Monarca/Aspion Negro. Superluchas and SoloLuchas have brief articles denoting his passing.

The last show on the CMLL Tour, in Madrid, was said to draw 2,000 fans. That seems about average for this tour, in buildings that were meant to hold much more.

ESTO has a Santo bio. ESTO got Adam Pearce’s name correct.

A book called “The World of Lucha Libre: Secrets, Revelations, and Mexican Political Identity” comes out in November. There’s a brief review of it in Publishers Weekly.

El Salvador writes about lucha libre in San Salvador. The golden age there is said to be 60s to 80s, and the (unnamed) promotion here is just doing weekly Sunday shows.
