08/22: Mexico, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 08/22 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones, superluchas, ESTO]
1) Hijo del Faraon & Trueno b Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei b Lady Apache, Marcela, Sahori
3) La Sombra, Mictlán, Volador Jr. b Dragon Rojo Jr., Ephesto, Misterioso II
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Marco Corelone, Shocker b Terrible, Texano Jr., Villano IV
5) Blue Panther, Héctor Garza, Místico b Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

Two straight falls for the tecnicos in the main event. Rudos got DQed for excessive violence in the first, and Panther caught UG with an armbar in the second. In a very random moment, Terrible and Texano ran in after the match and beat up Garza (who was already hurt during the match). Sounds like they’re in a hurry to build something.

Villano IV continues to fill in for Villano V, and V4 and Dr. Wagner exchanged mask vs mask challenges after the match. We’re apparently supposed to take this seriously, because CMLL mentions it on their website. Seems more like we’re getting a multiman match every day.

The third and the second match were also straight fall wins.

Rodolfo Ruiz, Tauro, Audaz and Cien Caras were honored at the show.

El Pais writes about the CMLL stop in Marbella. They note that most of the people attending, at least for this show, are immgrants from Latin America.

CMLL (TUE) 08/26 Arena Mexico
1) Sombra de Plata & Starman vs Inquisidor & Semental
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Metálico, Tigre Blanco vs Bronco III, Hooligan, Loco Max
3) Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Metalik vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Nitro, Skandalo
4) Alex Koslov, La Sombra, Valiente vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Sangre Azteca
5) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Shocker vs Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

The guys back from Spain are right back into the grind.

CMLL (FRI) 08/29 Arena Mexico
1) Fantasy, Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
2) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, La Sombra vs Felino, Heavy Metal, Misterioso II
3) Amapola & Lady Apache vs Marcela & Princesa Sujei [pi, hair, mask]
4) Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero vs AJ Styles, Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin
5) Mictlán vs Dragon Rojo Jr. [mask]
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Místico, Shocker vs Black Warrior, Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero

Felino’s a rudo? Huh. I would’ve expected the other trios match to go on top.

  1. Puma and Tiger deserve tv time. I’d like to see them challenge for the Arena Coliseo tag-titles.

  2. I wouldn’t be surprised if the TV today has 2, 3 and 4 with no main event airing. Or they might even do 2, 3 and 5 and just leave Wagner out so Chui can say smething.:)

I really hope they’re not building up another multi-man match and just leave it the way it is. AT MOST they should just add Guerrero and Atlantis to the mix. Can you imagine Wagner being involved? In almost meaningless trios matches at Arena Coliseo he steals the heat from the wrestlers feuding! Imagine what he’d do in a big Arena Mexico main event where he isn’t in the finals.

I know Henrik is going to support that Tuesday lineup – especially the opener!:)

As for Friday… wow. That’s a loaded show and technically it’s *7 matches*. That hasn’t happened in Arena Mexico in a while unless you count the CMLL Trios Titles tournament where the matches ranged from 1 to 4 minutes. I’d expect TNA to be given time as well as the ladies so it wouldn’t shock me at all to see the opening matches gets <8 minutes, the TNA match will only go two falls and the main will go two falls and be under 10. In fact the mask match will probably be short and sweet as well… likely 3 falls in 10 minutes.

Felino as a rudo! Maybe it’ll inspire him to start trying in the ring but this alone clearly proves anyone’s point about CMLL’s lazy booking. No angle, no tease, no explanation. Just Felino’s name appearing in the lineup as a rudo. Another excellent job by the hat!

  3. 2, 3 and 4 or 2, 3 and 5 in a 50 minute show?

How come no one is hyping Semental’s jump from ENESMA? LOL

I think Dragon Rojo Jr vs Mictlan will be a single fall match and end in a draw… hehehe, main event will possible be that because Shocker is turning or something is gonna happen there…

I doubt it will be a 50 minute show but one never knows…

  4. i gotta run out of her in a few for the FIP show. I’ll miss all the drama, until I get home.

  5. Well the ladies are definitely up first even though their match isn’t part of the official Sin Piedad hype video.:)

  6. i hope they run the video for Sin Piedad again. i bet the same video runs on Ras later. Hope Lawagnermania posts it because it’s good.

Notice all the ads on CMLL on pi or ps junk.

  7. Yeah, Tuesday looks pretty fun. Shame that turd Fabian has to infest almost every Tuesday card. JUST F*CK OFF WILL YOU!! :(

To be honest, i don’t really bother much about matches 4 and 5, it’s mainly just 2 and 3 i’m interested in.

In the segunda, i’m happy if it’s minis or it features Tigre Blanco, Neutron, Sombra De Plata, Trueno, Sensei, Los Romanos, Vaquero/Polvora or Los Guillereros

And in the tercera, Flash, Super Nova, Stuka, Metalik etc. In not too hard to keep happy. But somehow, CMLL still almost never manage it

I’m not interested at all next Friday. The opener and main look fun, the rest of it i can practically guarantee i won’t be into.

Felino as a rudo would be ok – but if you’re gonna turn one of your most recognisable luchadors, you at least have to explain it and have him backstab a tecnico or something, rather than just listing him on the rudo side out of nowhere. You can get away with that with opening match guys like Tiger Kid, but not established luchadors.

  8. Oh c’mon Henrik – Mictlan and Dragon Rojo Jr. is going to be an EPIC DISASTER. Mictlan obviously can’t work and Rojo is barely passable but has never been in a high profile singles match. It’s gonna be laughable.:)

  9. If we could speed things along it’d be appreciated. I’d like to get through the tercera before the mini’s begin on C3.

  10. That is the second time Volador/Sombra have set up for that double dive and Volador has failed at his attempt on both occasions…

  11. Why do they always air the opener when it’s a weak match and skip the Electrico/Fantasy weeks?

  12. @Rob: At least they’re consistent!! Arena looks and sounds as empty as last week show… I doubt they’ll get a sold out next week.

  13. Oh I guarantee it won’t sellout.

Poor Bam Bam. His hair would have cushioned his fall there.:(

  14. @Rob:
I’d say it was all Vangelis :)

Vangelis is actually ok imo (well, as ok as nazi’s go)

when are we going to get that Stuka feud? :)

  15. No idea, i didn’t have any interest in it so switched off.

You won’t get me watching rudos v rudos unless it’s Los Romanos V Los Guillereros :)

  16. PPV just started. I’m probably the only one who bought it. It’s in both English and Spanish with Konnan and Moody Jack on both channels.
