At yesterday’s CMLL press conference, Blue Panther & Villano V signed for a mask match, but were interrupted by Ultimo Guerrero & Atlantis. Do you remember three months ago, when UG decided over breakfast the anniversary main event should be Panther vs Villano vs Atlantis vs Guerrero? Apparently he does, and he wasn’t going to let something silly like a one on one match happen. Panico said he’d have the booking committee think about it, but for right now, it’s just Panther vs Villano.
Villano liked the idea of a four way match (since he can get revenge for his brother.) Panther would rather have a singles match. Ultimo Guerrero thinks that’s because Panther is scared. Atlantis seems to think he’s not on the anniversary show if he’s not in the main event.
This website officially endorses PANTHER vs VILLANO 5 and not the four way match.
Everyone’s saying the anniversary show is September 19th. No one said anything about that August 29th show.
Dos Caras Jr. was at the press conference to talk about the Spain tour. No one wanted to talk about the Spain tour with Dos Caras Jr., they all wanted to know about Dos and WWE. Putting a couple reports together, it sounds like Dos was unhappy the news got out, because it’s caused issues with him and both CMLL and WWE. According to Dos, WWE raised their offer and he’s considering it, but clearly not going anywhere until at least after the Spain tour. The Notimex story seems sure Dos is going, but I don’t know that’s true.
Ovaciones squeezed in a short article about the bit. I know they like running these things on Thursdays so they get mentioned with the usual Friday Arena Mexico previews, but perhaps running an angle the day before the Olympics starts (and everyone’s running their previews instead of second tier sports coverage) is not the way to go.
Luchando Libre also has photos from the press conference, and will be posting video with Dos and Perro today.
Also at the press conference
– the new trios champs were presented – that’s why Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero were there. The best part is Negro not bothering to dress up. They’d like us to call this union Los Guerreros Negros de la Atlantida, but that’s a bit long.
– Perro Aguayo Jr. talked about his injury, plus the usual mask/hair challenge to Mistico. Sounds like we’re leaning towards 3 months.
Tonight’s card:
CMLL (FRI) 08/08 Arena Mexico
1) Metálico & Tigre Blanco vs Apocalipsis & Inquisidor
2) Fabián el Gitano, Metalik, Tony Rivera vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skandalo
3) Alex Koslov, Felino, Mictlán vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Ephesto, Misterioso II
4) Blue Panther, Marco Corelone, Volador Jr. vs Heavy Metal, Terrible, Villano V
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza, Shocker vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero
Panther & Villano doesn’t feature any Ultimo Guerrero or Atlantis involvement this week. Guerreros and Pesta Negra continue to team up (Negro/Hector issues?) and Dragon/Mictlan keep fighting in the tercera.
There will be a moment of appluase for the recently passed editor of ESTO.
CMLL posted video of all of Tuesday’s action (July 15), Wagner and Perro talking about each other after the Leyenda de Plata, and the Gran Prix.
Meanwhile, AAA tapes in Madero, with a more noteworthy looking taping than usual:
– a new Guapo should debut
– Mini Kenzo Suzuki debuts!
– Alas de Oros ’08. They’ve apparently been running vignittes on TV with Jack talking about how he’s going to win for sure, so he’s finishing second. I think it’s going to be Aerostar, and they might actually preogress Super Fly’s angle sometime during this.
AAA (WED) 08/06 Auditorio Miguel Barragan de San Luis Potosi [El Sol de SL, Miugel.M @ SML]
2) Mascarita Sagrada & Octagoncito DQ Mini Abismo Negro & Mini Chessman

4) Jack Evans & Teddy Hart b Crazy Boy & Juventud Guerrera
5) Kenzo Suzuki & Pirata Morgan b Cibernetico & El Elegido
The local promoter of the show was getting involved with the rudos and celebrating with the tecnicos after the win. Zorro was still hurt but accompanied the rudos. The newspaper results has slightly different results, but I tend to believe the recap. Jack set up the 630 with a foul. Newspaper article mentions a TV taping coming here in September.
FMLL (FRI) 08/08 Pico Rivera Sports Arena, Los Angeles
1) Shamu Jr. vs Piloto Suicida (California) [FILL HEAVY]
2) Profeta Jr. vs Jaguar de Oro [mask]
3) Rayo de Jalisco Jr. & Super Porky vs Hijo del Cien Caras & Villano III
4) Blue Demon Jr. & Rey Misterio Sr. vs El Hijo Del Santo & LA Park
One last Hoy Internet story to build it up. This time, Park says he and Santo probably won’t work well as a team, because they recently got into a locker room brawl in Tijuana and Park thinks he might have broke his right foot in the match, but hasn’t gotten it checked or anything. Also, Rayo de Jalisco tells the story about how the Junior Capos “put him on the brink of death” (!!) and then took his mask (!!!!!!) Intersting that we’ve got a guy who’s nominally in CMLL (V3) and a guy who’s in AAA (Porky) facing off on a Santo show. Villano III’s got away with that before so I’m sure it’ll be fine again.
Toryumon Mexico (SUN) 08/10 Arena Coliseo [superluchas]
