CMLL lists the August 29th show as Mask vs Mask, Hair vs Hair. I suspect they’ll announce that as the Panther/Villano III date today, but it could be Dragon Rojo/Mictlan or something completely different. Reforma suggests it could involve Wagner, Niebla or Ultimo Guerrero. Niebla would like a one on one match. Whatever’s going down, CMLL’s been floating the idea of multiple anniversary celebrations – they’ll still have a big one in September, but it won’t be alone.
(Reforma via Jazzo) Perhaps there’s a reason CMLL held the Leyenda de Plata tournament bunched with everything else: El Hijo del Santo will sue CMLL for the rights to that name Santo and his lawyer also says they are filing evidence with the National Institute of Copyright to block Axxel from being billed as the grandson of Santo.
In the email newsletter, Abismo Negro talks about returning to AAA. Abismo first says the All The Vipers vs Abismo in a cage match was unfair to him, so he left for three months. Later, he says he left because of (unspecified) family and health issues and is offended about the stories people made up about him. Abismo says he challenged Niebla to a mask match and Niebla ran off scared to CMLL and says he’ll be back on TV soon.

I believe that’s Brazo de Plata Jr. working twice. AAA is weird about the Psycho Circus – they have them beat top guys here, but I don’t think they have any plans for them after the streak. I could totally see a Super Porky led team stopping the Psycho Clown streak at Verano de Escandalo and everyone being flipped into other gimmicks.
The ex-trios champs are sad to be ex-champs. Fantasma says he was shocked Negro cheated, because he’s grown up admiring him. But apparently not paying attention to Negro when he was a rudo. Garza respects the new champs ability but can’t believe they’d win the titles in such a manner, and everyone wants a rematch (which will have to wait until after the Spain trip) and a shot at Negro’s hair. Meanwhile, Atlantis vows to be a fighting champion. When’s the last time the NWA Light Heavyweight Title was defended again?
It’d be interesting if a Fantasma/Negro or Mascara/Negro match came out of this, but it looks like a build to Garza/Negro.
Rey Bucanero is hoping he and Ultimo will be back in TNA in September.
SuperLuchas posted photos of Alfonso Dantes’ Toque Tapatio. Sure looks like a Tiger Suplex to me. There’s only pictures of the finish, but the start of the move they showed in the magazine looks very similiar.
LA Park complains about the existence of La Parka Jr. in an interview that barely promotes Friday’s show. Park claims he came up with the name and is the only Mexican to ever hold six world championships at the same time. Did I ever tell you about the time I caught a fish that was this big? It was a whopper.
A Hijo del Santo interview is basically un-noteworthy, except for the part where they list current luchadors and the list goes “Mistico, Satanico, Nitro, Loco Max”. Well, they drop Hijo del Santo’s real name too, claims lucha libre in more popular than soccer and dare to suggest wrestling in Mexico might not have started with the first CMLL show. But, c’mon, Nitro?
Ovaciones has no lucha coverage, and this might be true a lot of places until the Olympics are over.
Chikara’s is teasing lots of outside particpation for their October shows, including IWRG (maybe Skayde, Pantera and Turbo?) and AAA (I hope it’s Guapito!) They’re supposed to announce something on September 7th and htis still a month after that, so just file it away in the back of your mind for now.

I don’t have a hat handy, but a bag used instead threw these results:
Mictlan vs Dragon Rojo Jr Masks Especial
Something with Wagner, Atlantis, Mistico, Shocker…
Hector Garza vs Negro Casas Hair
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8Pvf7ZULsg
There’s the video that shows it was not a tiger suplex at 1:28.
Yea, that’s more like a Tiger Roll.
I bet El Guapito doesn’t even know about working for Chikara and even if he did, he’d probably deny it, followed by confirmation, then more denial, and so on…
I always find it funny when I hear or read about some luchador possibly suing someone over copyright infringement. What with the music they rip-off on every show and the countless gimmicks they steal from various movies, tv shows, comic books, etc.
El Hijo del Santo leading candidate for the “Worst Uncle in the World” Title. Didn’t he already sue Axxel?
August 29 will be a stip card so that they steal the thunder from AAA and “NWA” shows, won’t they? Or are they really planning on running stip shows all the way through Sept 19?
Nope, AAA is actually coming up to Mexico City next week, Mty is on the 31st…
AAA (MON) 08/04 Arena Cuatro Caminos de Nuevo Laredo [RFC]
3) Rio Bravo, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana b Jesse, Nygma, Yuriko
Now everyone might rest easy, Queens are not gone… elmanana.com.mx also has the results, more or less.
So this is looking as if Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero might be involved.
If a big name like Villano or Panther is willing to lose the mask, why not just do the one-on-one match? This devalues the show when too many people are involved. But if someone big is losing his mask or hair in August, someone still has to lose in September. Now I might have to go at the end of the month.
@Alfredo: I was HOPING for it to be Guapito. Sorry if I made it sound like CHIKARA announced that, because they sure didn’t.
Yeah and the mask match is going down on 9/19 on the big anniversary show. I fully expect Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero, and probably 4 others to join the fun as well.
Tzuki too?
If not then I don’t care.
Oof. No Alas De Oro preview! I’ll write one up quickly over on DVDVR. This will be the first time since Triplemania where I’m more looking forward to AAA results tomorrow rather than CMLL.
I’m gonna go with Shocker/Negro in a hair match on the 29th (no surprise who wins) and Mictlan losing his mask and CMLL job to Dragon Rojo Jr.
Considering he worked last week too I’m guessing there is a new Brazo De Plata Jr. who made his debut the same time Porky’s daughters did.
For the Hair match, I’m going Garza/Negro.
Most importantly, Who’s going to be the new Guapo? I know this probably won’t happen but man do I wish it was Billy Boy. It would be awesome.
It’s a Puerto Rican.
Why do the night queens always Job?and i cant stand cibernetico he draws big but if i ever see him in a singles match i will ripp my hair one bye one!He sucks!and it’s good the night queens are not gone they bring some eximent on the show along with the minis!
This is what the Chikara website says about the global gaunlet:
“Once we’re through terrorizing the Midwest in September, we’re heading back east for a new event known as “The Global Gauntlet.” What exactly is this? Well, we’re glad you asked. Last month, we sent out invitations to 12 promotions that we’ve worked with in the past, and some we’ve never worked with at all! We’ve challenged any of these companies to assemble a team to challenge a squad of CHIKARA’s finest, and to do so here, in Pennsylvania, in the month of October. The first promotion to put together a team and accept our challenge will make history as part of the first ever Global Gauntlet! We’ll make a big announcement pertaining to the participants at our September 7th event in Philadelphia!”
Rumor is that it will be a Japanese company. But if it’s also still considered “invaders weekend,” I could see Skyade and Turbo being back for the shows.
