07/29: extraneous bits

IWRG (SUN) 07/27 Arena Naucalpan [Sololuchas]
4) Hijo del Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Scorpio Jr. & Zumbido [IWRG IC TAG]

It sure seems like I read this article wrong and posted wrong results. Last week in Puebla, the Pesta Negra beat the Trios champs in a non-title match, and they got their title match last night (and I don’t know the finish quite yet.)

Remember how Mistico said he COULD be a dancing wrestler, but doesn’t because he’d rather be professional? Luchando Libre has photos of him doing the stripping act at a previous show. Oops!

CMLL’s Blog gets around to wondering will Dr. Wagner Jr. honor his word and join the Perros? I’m thinking no, since that’s what he said about a week ago.

LuchandoLibre also posted video from the AAA Queretaro taping. They mention the note about Antifaz being out of AAA; AAA posted a whole bunch of cards yesterday, and Antifaz was on many of them.

One of the announcers for the IWRG show says IWRG may end up going national in September, or maybe later in the year. So we still don’t know.

SoloLuchas has an interview with Euforia from the press conference for the Spain tour. An article about the tour has been floating around, but I haven’t linked to it because it’s got 0.000% new info in it. This Euforia has slightly more.

El Tiempo reposts an article from ’02 about female wrestlers in Colombia.

ix @ box y lucha writes about Sunday’s CMLL Gudalajara show.

Diario de Queretaro writes about an AAA show this weekend with Abismo Negro scheduled to return. (This one’s Abismo/Porky vs Jack/Teddy, a match I need to see.)

And then there’s this:

Figure Four Weekly #684 says last Friday’s Arena Mexico show drew 15,000, which is up from 14,500 the previous week. Myself, the more I think about this, the less I trust the accuracy of these numbers (or at least that amount of difference being significance.) We’re also not getting ticket price info, which is as important as how many people came, and CMLL does change that around whenever it feels like.

  1. Ticket prices can be seen at the Ticketmaster page, alas, not the past events, although I think they usually are in the 100-300 area for the lower seats, 50-60 for the bleachers, which are the prices for this next show. Actually, I think 240 or something like that is what they charge for Ringside, but maybe this Relevos Increibles is seen as a big deal, although I think the recent shows were also at 300.

If IWRG goes national, then Televisa will have to do something, since A13 has better coverage and is Azteca’s high profile channel, while Gala is just like a filler channel for Televisa.

  2. I always think the numbers are kind of inflated. Sure, they get big crowds no doubt, but everyone exaggerates. Only the boys truly know when they go to get paid, and the booker says the real paid gate, in order to lower the boys paydays.

Good thing about NY is that if you go to the Commission office, they have to give you the paid and gross b/c it’s public record.

  3. I’m confused Chui, a week ago I was saying that Televisa will do something if IWRG goes national. “Something” means they’ll give CMLL an ultimatum-No talent can work both A13 and Televisa.

  4. There are no CMLL guys working IWRG, that’s been happening for months, so what good can an Ultimatum do now?

Something would be a lucha show in either 2 or 5.

  5. Wagner is not a CMLL guy, I guess LA Park is done with CMLL, he has worked Naucalpan and not shown even in Puebla or gdl… I guess Wagner will wait for the first couple of shows in Azteca to see what happens, if anything, Azteca should already have several matches with Wagner in their library so they might air those to start the new show. Wagner has been in those Azteca shows and has not been given any ultimatum so far, who knows.

On the other hand, I wonder if Televisa could push PCTV to drop the IWRG show, and maybe replace it with AAA product?

  6. Once it goes national, it becomes an issue. I don’t think Televisa can push PCTV to drop anything. And if they could, I can’t imagine why in the world they would even think about AAA product. Three hours of AAA is all we need.

  7. AAA needs more tv to give their mid level guys something to look for.

Antifaz was here last night. Seems the show with indy he worked in Mty was for charity and nothing to do with him jumping… for now.

  8. Wait wait wait…

Electro Shock is leaving AAA to join CMLL?

(Is anyone going to get that?)

  9. @xuisaw: well, i guess i agree there Chui. It would be good for AAA to have a one-hour show(my opinion)featuring other talents not seen regularly on Televisa. I’ve always thought they would be ideal for Unicable.

  10. @Rob: Didn’t he do that once before and they didn’t want him? What made them change their mind?
