AAA #843 (07/26)

taped 06/29, aired 07/26

I’m starting to think Chessman is actually an unfrozen caveman. He doesn’t understand this worlds rules, and mores, and caffeinated beverages, he’s just a simple man from a simpler time who only knows to hit things and occasionally fly off high places to hit things. Don’t judge him!

Otherwise, it’s kinda hard to buy male on female violence being such an unbelievable wrong thing in AAA. Gran Apache just smashed a pop can over his daughter’s head at the TripleMania, and this promotion has done tons of mixed matches for years. They did the best they could with the idea, by making Chessman’s spear completely unnecessary and the additional stomps as over the top, but this angle works only if you ignore everything else.

(I like the “Chessman has the match won, takes stupid risk, loses” aspect, because it’s very consistent with every Chessman loss ever, and also makes him into AAA’s Jeff Hardy.)

Charly Manson is a much better corner person than Cibernetico.

I could go on about Ozz’s hat, but I think I should mention something else on this show at some point. Silver King being the fake Dr. Wagner is still hilarious, though I dont’ think it’s meant to. Guapos are less cool without Scorpio and Zumbido and Brazo vs Porky is just as a scary idea as figured. The Super Fly skit was hilarious, though they shouldn’t have sent him out ther with the rest later on to build off it. The Apaches/Morenos is good, and I guess the Apaches coming out to join the Legion and being beat is their tecnico turn? Dunno.

I’m not going to get to the FSE recap until at least Friday, but the video of the minis match is up on DailyMotion now.

07/29: extraneous bits

IWRG (SUN) 07/27 Arena Naucalpan [Sololuchas]
4) Hijo del Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Scorpio Jr. & Zumbido [IWRG IC TAG]

It sure seems like I read this article wrong and posted wrong results. Last week in Puebla, the Pesta Negra beat the Trios champs in a non-title match, and they got their title match last night (and I don’t know the finish quite yet.)

Remember how Mistico said he COULD be a dancing wrestler, but doesn’t because he’d rather be professional? Luchando Libre has photos of him doing the stripping act at a previous show. Oops!

CMLL’s Blog gets around to wondering will Dr. Wagner Jr. honor his word and join the Perros? I’m thinking no, since that’s what he said about a week ago.

LuchandoLibre also posted video from the AAA Queretaro taping. They mention the note about Antifaz being out of AAA; AAA posted a whole bunch of cards yesterday, and Antifaz was on many of them.

One of the announcers for the IWRG show says IWRG may end up going national in September, or maybe later in the year. So we still don’t know.

SoloLuchas has an interview with Euforia from the press conference for the Spain tour. An article about the tour has been floating around, but I haven’t linked to it because it’s got 0.000% new info in it. This Euforia has slightly more.

El Tiempo reposts an article from ’02 about female wrestlers in Colombia.

ix @ box y lucha writes about Sunday’s CMLL Gudalajara show.

Diario de Queretaro writes about an AAA show this weekend with Abismo Negro scheduled to return. (This one’s Abismo/Porky vs Jack/Teddy, a match I need to see.)

And then there’s this:

Figure Four Weekly #684 says last Friday’s Arena Mexico show drew 15,000, which is up from 14,500 the previous week. Myself, the more I think about this, the less I trust the accuracy of these numbers (or at least that amount of difference being significance.) We’re also not getting ticket price info, which is as important as how many people came, and CMLL does change that around whenever it feels like.
