07/20: scattered results, notes, lineups

I like the Dragon Rojo Jr.’s mask. Maybe we need a poll. Sorry for the least descriptive headline ever.

Rumors are Abismo Negro has/will return tonight at the AAA TV taping. It’s almost not worth bothering with the rumors – it’s a Monterrey taping, we’ll know within hours either way. (And yay for RFC for that.)

indy (SUN) 07/13 Cafeteria Dona Barbara [Super Luchas #273]
1) Furia Gitana b Black Diamond
2) Aguila Tapada & Scorpion King b OVNI & Zaraperoco
3) Jaguar Guerrero & Platino b Belcebu & Fishman Jr.
4) Grey Shadow b Mentallo
5) Catedratico Jr., Platino, Solar I b Belcebu, Nicho el Millionario, X-Fly

This was a free show, celebrating the anniversary of the restaurant with a show in the street. (Police were not thrilled with the idea.) Kinda strange to me to have CMLL and AAA guys on the same show (or slightly against each other in the main event.), but the person writing about the show didn’t seem to think it was any big deal. That it was two of the CMLL foreigners working a singles match probable is clue.

AULL (TUE) 07/15 Centro de Convenciones de Tlalnepantla, EdM [Super Luchas #273]
1) Ricky Star b Chico Bon Ice
2) Psicopata, Quimico, Super Panda b Cerebro Maligno, Epitafio, Herejia
3) Robin Maravilla, Terry 2000, Yakuza b Rey Krimen, Sadico, Sepulturero I
4) el Signo, Negro Navarro, Rocky Santana b Solar I, Super Astro, Ultraman
5) Alex Koslov, Dr. Wagner Jr., Marco Corelone b Damian 666, Mr. Aguila, Scorpio Jr.

El Signo, so hurt they just had a benefit show for in this arena, was back in the ring. But there’s a twist – Villano V came out after the match, and challenged him to a hair match in what would be another benefit show.

CMLL MEDI CRIT (WED) 07/16 Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas [Super Luchas #273]
1) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela b Hiroka, La Nazi, Mima Shimoda
2) Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito, Tzuki b Mr. Aguilita, Peqeuno Halloween, Pequeño Damian 666
3) La Sombra, Metalik, Valiente b Calígula, Loco Max, Méssala
4) Brazo de Platino L Oro Negro and La Máscara and Máximo and Baby Lover and Astro Boy and Sadico and Iron Boy and Stuka Jr. and Loco Castillo [cage, hair]
5) Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero b Damián 666, Mephisto, Mr. Aguila and Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Shocker
6) Averno & el Hijo del Perro Aguayo b Héctor Garza & Místico

Brazo de Platino actually lost by DQ, in a cage match, because the rudo referee got involved. I dunno. They also added Damian 666, Mephisto and Mr. Aguila to the semimian for no clear reason.

IWRG (THU) 07/17 Arena Naucalpan [Super Luchas #273]
1) Halcon 2000 b Heavy Boy
2) Anubis & Judas el Traidor b Eragon & Miss Gavitora
3) Kat Killer & La Chola b Buena Nina & Lady Rabbit
4) Centauro, Multifacético, Super Astro b Ciclon Negro, Negro Navarro, Septiembre el Terrorista
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Scorpio Jr., Zumbido NC Fuerza Guerrera, Hijo del Cien Caras, Veneno

After Wagner accidentally hit Scorpio a couple times during the match, Guapos turned on Dr. Wagner in the third fall. Sucks to be Dr. Wagner this week.

Baja Star (FRI) 07/18 Auditorio de Tijuana [SuperLuchas]
1) Arlequin b Sparks
2) Extreme Kid & Super Galgo b Halcon Tapatio & Sangre Guerrera
3) Black Spider, El Celestial, Star Boy b Scream, Tazmania, Viernes 13
4) Angel Blanco Jr. & Mortiz b La Sombra & Valiente
5) Místico & Negro Casas DQ Averno & Mephisto

This was Mistico last match before going to China (for the first time.) Negro turned on Mistico, of course.

Johnny Divine may be replacing Chris Daniels this Friday. They’ve gone back and forth on this twice already. I like Daniels, but the confusion is more intersting than who actually wrestles the match.

AAA’s got a teaser photo (but not the actual gallery they seem to promote) for the cartoon movie. They seem to have updated the roster (Cibernetico and Elegido in for Abismo and Gronda.) Also, they’ve set up an e-mail address to send get well wishes to Charly Manson.

The old AAA site does have a message pointing you to the new address, and it’ll auto forward you if you linger enough.

Also, the RSS links are still off.

Ovaciones profiles El Soberano as new member of CMLL. I read it this morning, presumed it was because he was working tonight, but he’s actually not scheduled for any card right now, which makes odd. They talk about his debut on May 25, which is two months ago. Perhaps the bio was just on hold, I dunno. The story itself is familiar – from Torreon, brought in by UG, and training with Satanico. They do acknowledge he’s Euforia’s brother, and he reveals he’s married with three kids. There’s also the previews of today’s cards, mention of TNA coming in next Friday, and Dragon Rojo’s name change.

A promotion, starting today in Quetzaltenago, is claiming to be the first wrestling in Guatemala in more than 8 years. They’re hoping to eventually bring in wrestlers from Mexico. Being a border country, I’m a little surprised no one has tried.

SuperLuchas also says Blue Demon won the WWA Welterweight Title on June 28th in Valencia, and lost in the evening show in London on July 5th.

Accion’s CMLL highlight was Wagner/Perro. Outside of one Perro suplex, it’s all Wagner highlights (dives and superplex.) Well, the finish is not a Wagner highlight. AAA’s highlight was the Salamanca main event. The clips of the Chessman/Cibernetico spat were alternatively dumb (they got angry because they got whipped into each other? Not even actually hit each other, the rudos just sent one into another and this is an issue?) and made Cibernetico look like a jerk (why did he trip Chessman? why couldn’t Cibernetico just let someone else get revenge on Mesais for once?) In the end, Vampiro tried to keep them separated, and both guys ended up turning on him with headbutts. Poor Vampiro.

Lineups:

CMLL (TUE) 07/22 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Impostor vs Egipcio
2) Virgo vs Depredador (Guadalajara)
3) Palacio Negro vs Ebola
4) Magnum vs Malefico
5) Casanova & Tony Rivera vs Cien Caras Jr. & Infierno
6) Alex Koslov & Marco Corelone vs Toscano & Último Guerrero
7) Atlantis vs Shocker

Is Toscano just exiled to Guadalajara? So weird that keeps working there, since you’d think he’d normally live in Mexico City.

CMLL (TUE) 07/22 Arena Quertaro
1) Hermano Lince I & Hermano Lince II vs Cometa de Fuego & Galaxy
2) Cazador, Fuego Latino, Silver Dragon vs Drabek I, Drabek II, Rey Aztlan
3) Bam Bam & Tzuki vs Mr. Aguilita & Pierrothito
4) La Sombra vs Máscara Púrpura, Sagrado, Astro Boy, Ursus, Rey Cometa, Nitro, Dragon Rojo Jr., Principe Valiente Jr. [ciber, trofeo Santiago de Queretaro]

CMLL (SUN) 07/27 Arena Coliseo
1) Molotov & Sensei vs Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Fabián el Gitano, Máscara Púrpura, Metálico vs Bronco, Loco Max, Vangelis
3) Alex Koslov, Grey Shadow, Valiente vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Texano Jr.
4) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico vs Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Mr. Niebla

There’s actually a place holder opener and extra guys to make the Puma/Tiger match look like a trios, but I’m saving myself time. Bam Bam/Mini Damian is expected to be added as a title match.

WAGNER (SAT) 07/26 La Plaza de Toros Torreon [El Siglo de Torreon]
1) Azteca, Emperador, Sexy Piscis vs Espanto V, Psycho, Sexy Frnacis
2) Linda Star & Martha Villalobos vs Lady Warrior & Rossy Moreno
3) Incógnito & Máscara Año 2000 vs Casandro & Hijo del Cien Caras [ri]
4) Blue Demon Jr. & Dr. Wagner Jr. vs El Hijo del Solitario & LA Park [cage]

IWRG (SUN) 07/27 Arena Naucalpan
1) Goleador & Zatura vs Fantasma de la Ópera & Xibalva
2) Centauro, Chico Che, Ultramán Jr. vs Black Terry, Ciclon Negro, Negro Navarro
3) Lady Rabbit & Martha Villalobos vs Mujer Demente & Rossy Moreno
4) Hijo del Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. vs Scorpio Jr. & Zumbido [IWRG IC TAG]
5) Groon XXX, Multifacético, Super Astro vs American Devil, el Hijo del Pierroth, El Hijo del Solitario

Can’t wait for the American Devil vs Septiembre el Terrorista feud. IWRG is running Rey del Ring on Thursday, so no match lineup.

JUNIORS (WED) 09/17 Auditorio Miguel Barragan [El Sol de San Luis]
1) Mr. Aguilita & Pequeño Halloween vs Mascarita Dorada & Mini Maximo
2) Pequeño Damian 666 vs Bam Bam [CMLL MINI]
3) La Sombra, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, Ephesto, Mr. Águila
4) Averno & el Hijo del Perro Aguayo vs Héctor Garza & Místico

They neglect to actually name the arena in this article, but that’s what it normally is. No one’s specifically listed as the champion in the minis match, for what it’s worth. I’m excited to see that match in a few weeks – is everyone else down on Bam Bam now or something?

If you’ve made it this far, the links to the YouTube GA videos are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. There’s a probably a New Media lesson here about posting video quickly yourself, so you get the benefits, because it’s going up regardless, but I’m going to go play video games instead of making it.

  1. Grey Shadow vs Mentallo stuck out to me as the weirdest match to see on a random indy show. Perhaps they’re buddies who hang out and had an off day and just happened to pass by the show with their gear handy?

The El Signo deal is such a scam. He clearly didn’t need major surgery and just wanted a few extra bucks for booze money plus free publicity. It amazes me nobody in the ByL forum or over on ElMartinete has discussed this by now.

That Madero show is where Tzuki got hurt.:( Wonder if he worked Coliseo today…

Sickening clip from that Tijuana show – Celestial goes SPLAT: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pJOhWJ2fkzg

I think Toscano lives in Guadalajara hence why he’s always working there.

Only reason I haven’t been more excited for Bam Bam/Pequeno Damian is because I was expecting Dorada to get another shot or even Tzuki in an extreme longshot. Bam Bam got the last title shot on a C3 show in May and the match was rather average from what I recall. Would be neat if they did a 3 way deal where Dorada pins Peq Damian tonight and wants a title shot so they agree to do Dorada vs Bam Bam next week with the winner facing Peq Damian in two weeks. Too creative for CMLL… I know.

Weird that MTY results haven’t turned up yet since the show was over hours ago.

HARSH. I hope Alexis still reads the blog.

  2. Hmmm… I guess I should have known Tzuki wasn’t gonna wrestle since Bam Bam wasn’t even listed in the original lineup for tonight. I get delirious when I see Tzuki might make TV.:(

  3. Shit, is that the CMLL Celestial with new attire?.. never knew he was capable of busting out the Rey Cometa tornillo’s. Nice quality for a handheld. If only it was like that when we were getting fancam footage in the 90s :)

In fairness, the Bam Bam V Damian match may well have been really good – But C3 pretty much missed the whole of the 3rd fall and clipped straight to the finish. I’d like to see Dragoncito get a title match with Damian, or any kind of singles match for that matter. He’s been around for the best part of 2 decades and hel;s still awesome.

  4. Is Black Fish back to the Fishman Jr. gimmick or could that be another Fishman Jr.?

  5. Actually that was the Tijuana Celestial, not the CMLL one.:)

The C3 feed we were watching missing the third fall but the one that made it to DVD has it in full b/c it’s the official feed, not the local feed that takes an extra commercial break at times.:)
