AAA #837 (06/14)

taped 05/29, aired 06/14

I don’t know if anyone’s going to agree with me, but the Hell Brothers vs Teddy and Jack was so much better than match last week. It felt like there was an actual story, and the Hell Brothers were content to sell a lot more than I would’ve expected.

I’m the opposite of excited for more Parka/Konnan. I guess it’s better than Konnan vs Octagon as representative as the “heart of AAA”, but I wish they could find another alternative (that used neither guy.)

All AAA departures are not the same; not going to miss Martha in the ring, for one. Totally not interested in Hermandad/FdT stuff, but that’s no surprise. The Vipers/Abismo stuff seems off the rails at this point, but they’re still doing video packages for the program so AAA must’ve not given up quite yet.

07/05: Mexico, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 07/04 Arena Mexico [superluchas, ovaciones, ESTO]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Angel de Oro & Hijo del Faraon
2) Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Violencia b Shockercito & Tzuki
3) Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero b Blue Panther, La Sombra, Sagrado
4) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo b Volador Jr., Alex Koslov, La Máscara, Stuka Jr., Felino, Ohara, Averno, Mephisto, Ephesto [Leyenda de Plata, cibernetico, semifinal]
5) Heavy Metal, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza, Místico

Rudos took the 1st and 3rd falls of the main event, and only lost the second because they ripped off Mistico’s mask. Wagner’s mask was ripped to shreds after the match. They’re teasing the Niebla/Wagner singles match as well as the Casas/Mistico/Garza tag title match.

Order of elimination in the LdP match: Ohara, Stuka, Felino, Ephesto, Averno, La Mascara, Alex Koslov, Mephisto and Volador Jr. was pinned by Perro to win it. Ephesto and La Mascara were strecher-ed out with injuries. Perro almost got in to a fight with Tony the cartoonist.

Today’s Lucha Libre London Links (that aren’t total repeats)
London TV Person tries lucha libre.
Cassandro interview. He brought the CHIKARA belt to London!

The CMLL TV show is listed here as 90 minutes long (!) also sounds like all the non-match segments from the two MVS shows strung together. (Perhaps that’ll mean they won’t show those pieces on the GdR shows anymore.) If they are showing a match on the show, it’s not as important as the seven or so interview bits they mention here. One of those interviews is with Paco Alonso, which sounds pretty interesting but probably won’t be.

CMLL (TUE) 07/08 Arena Mexico
1) Angel de Oro & Sombra de Plata vs Artillero & Zayco
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Hijo del Faraon, Tigre Blanco vs Bronco III, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Metálico, Metalik, Mictlán vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Nitro
4) Alex Koslov, Marco Corelone, Máximo vs Diamante Negro, Terrible, Texano Jr.
5) Dos Caras Jr., La Máscara, Shocker vs Misterioso II, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

That segunda confirms the Tiger Kid rudo bit wasn’t a one week thing. Felino’s the only tecnico in the family right now. The Metalico/Metalik/Mictlan trio is great for confusing people on names. The Fabian/Diamante feud seems dropped.

CMLL (FRI) 07/11 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Molotov vs Calígula & Méssala
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei
3) Dr. Wagner Jr. vs La Sombra, Sagrado, Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Púrpura, Heavy Metal, Black Warrior, Sangre Azteca, Virus, Loco Max [Leyenda de Plata, cibernetico, semifinal]
4) Atlantis vs Blue Panther
5) Héctor Garza & Místico vs Mr. Niebla & Negro Casas [CMLL TAG]

Atlantis doesn’t get the tag match he wanted, but the singles match should be okay. It’s a fairly packed show, with that, the tag title match and the LdP cibernetico.

I think the challengers are slight favorites, because they’ve been dominate in this feud so far and it doesn’t seem time to change things. Strange that it’s Mr. Niebla getting the spot and not Heavy Metal, but that actually may improve their challengers chances.

The easiest way to get two straight sell outs is to have Dr. Wagner win this Leyenda de Plata cibernetico. Wagner vs Perro is a sell out, the winner vs Mistico is a sell out. I don’t know if they want to give those matches away with a one week build, but it seems a pretty safe bet either Wagner or Perro will be facing Mistico in a couple weeks. There’s no other tecnico (or rudo, for that matter) in this match that has a chance versus Perro. The only alternative I can imagine is Metal winning this so they can do his match with Perro Jr. they’d been teasing before the change of direction (and it’d also explain the change in challengers), and Mistico/Metal could even play off the greater feud.
