2) Luna Mágica & Marcela b Amapola & Medussa
3) Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween b Mascarita Dorada, Nino de Acero, Pequeno Ninja
4) Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, the Tigre b Centella de Oro, Hijo del Fantasma, Valiente
5) Texano Jr., Villano IV, Villano V b Blue Panther, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas
(Reforma via SuperLuchas) Volador Jr. and his family were involved in a car accident on Monday. They were on their way to his match here in the semimain Arena Puebla. Volador was the least hurt. There had been a mention of this on some of the boards, but this is the first news report I’ve seen. His daughter suffered a fracuted femor, and there was a concern his wife suffered a fractured seventh vertebra. No word on how she’s doing now, or how this affects Volador’s plans for the next couple weeks. Given how long it’s taken to get passports for guys involved so far, it’s not as though CMLL and TNA can easily sub in another person.
Olimpico missed the show as well. No one’s said it’s related, but that would make sense.
Everyone turned on Panther in the main event. Nino de Acero was said to look nervous early on in his match. Attendance was noted as 40% full.
IWRG (THU) 06/26 Arena Naucalpan [the gladiators]
1) Eragon b Comando Gama
2) Trauma I & Trauma II b Jack & Rey de Corazones
3) Bugambilia, Chico Che, Miss Gaviota DQ Capitán Muerte, Karloff Lagarde Jr., Xibalva
4) el Hijo Del Anibal, Multifacético, Super Calo b Arleuin, Black Terry, Veneno
5) Rayman, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido DQ Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Ricky Cruzz, Universo 2000
Rudos got DQed for excessive violence in the main. Chico Che and Karloff Lagrade Jr. are feuding. Both faked fouls this week in the third fall, and the crowd convinced the ref that Chico Che was in the right.
AAA ORTIZ (FRI) 06/27 Gimnasio de la UAT [El Pancracio]
1) Darling Boy & Lince b Peligro & Transmetal
2) Arana Maligna I & Arana Maligna II b Mensajero de la Muerte & Silver Fox
3) Fabi Apache & Mini Abismo Negro b Estrellita & Octagoncito
4) Joe Lider b Psicosis II, Halloween [hardcore]
5) Cibernetico & El Alebrije b Cuervo & Ozz
Building was 95% full. Fabi was a sub for Diabolica.
CMLL (MON) 06/30 Domo de la Feria de Leon [Leo76 @ box y lucha]
1) Carta Brava & Furia Azteca vs Gotico & Vampiro Metálico
2) Astro Boy & Turbo b Black Thunder & Cholo
3) Dark Angel & Lady Apache b Hiroka & Mima Shimoda
4) La Máscara, Máscara Púrpura, Metalik b Ephesto, Skandalo, Virus
5) Rey Bucanero & Último Guerrero b Dr. Wagner Jr. & Místico
As also noted on superluchas, Ultimo Guerrero and Dr. Wagner Jr. signed a contract for a contract mask vs mask match, though I’m not sure if Wagner actually signed anything before inviting all the kids in the ring, which may be the out. No one should take it serious until a match is actually announced, and not announced with a local wrestler obviously taking the fall instead of the CMLL talent (but way to annoy the local people by doing a heavy tease for a match you have no intention of doing.)
CMLL VIP (TUE) 07/01 Arena Monterrey [RFC]
1) Arkangel de la Muerte, Bengali, Loco Max vs Astro Boy, Orientale I, Orientale II
2) Máscara Púrpura, Súper Nova, Valiente vs Misterioso II, Rey Hechicero, Virus
3) Alex Koslov, Máximo, Shocker vs Rey Bucanero, Sangre Azteca, Terrible
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Tigre Univeristario vs Místico, Villano V, Blue Panther, Atlantis, Último Guerrero [mask]
Speaking of! The big story here is there is now dinner wagered on the outcome of the main event. I don’t think you can really believe any of the CMLL regulars are losing their mask in that main event, but that someone besides Tigre U might be added, as with the Super Parka addition last time around.
One page, two answers: Ovaciones has a notes column right next to Arturo Rivera‘s midweek lucha column, and both seem to differ slightly on the CMLL TV situation. The notes follow what CMLL’s said, Televisa broadcasts will be back again this week, and last week was a one week thing they just had neglected to mention previouslly. Arturo Rivera’s column says Televisa just isn’t going to bother with CMLL if they give them too much trouble becuase they have plenty of other things to air, and Televisa retains the right to put whoever they want on the broadcast. (Not sure I totally believe either.)
Arturo also says CMLL got Box Y Lucha to dump his column by threatening to stop buying ads in the magazine. CMLL buys adds in Ovaciones as well, but they’re a much small percentage in the paper.
Ultimo Guerrero is leaving CMLL. Well, not really, sorry for the panic attack. It wouldn’t be way down here if I belived it. In the linked article, UG talks about wanting to work tours in the US in TNA, spending some months or even a year elsewhere to see how it’s like, while maintaining his ties to CMLL. Ultimo notes he hasn’t actually talked to CMLL about this. (Oops!) Ultimo also noted the matches in TNA are too short, and so that proves the Mexican style of professional wrestling is the best in all the world. I’m glad that’s settled.
Box Y Lucha posted a lot of articles from their magazine on their site. I mentioned the Rey Cometa and Zumbiudo & Decnnis
There’s also
– Okumura describes his injury. You’ll be shocked to find out it’s all Fabian el Gitano’s fault. He’s out two months.
– an interview with Pirata Morgan about teaming with and learning from Satanico. Pirata describes himself as the high flyer of the Infernales when he joined in 1987, which is just hard to fathom. Pirata’s not a big fan of Masakre.
– one with Hijo de Fantasma, quite similiar to the Notimex one, and the ESTO one. It must be magic. Fantamsa would like to have a title match with Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, or just a normal match with Kurt Angle. It’s good to dream. No one really asks him about his family connections, though Box Y Lucha does have a hilarious end note.
– the first trios match in Mexico was on March 8th, 1952. Teams were Medico Asesino, Bulldog and Lobo Negro vs Tonina Jackson, Abel Krim, and Gorila Flores. Medico’s rudos took it in trios, and no one was quite sure why it was called “australianos.”
ESTO’s article on Lucha Libre London says Silver King will join the crew in London. Rayo de Jalisco Jr. had been working the shows while Silver King was working AAA dates.
In other articles, Wagner complains about Hector and Mistico not being good enough partners for him and every match is becoming a 1 on 5, but at least he’s got the fans on his side. I can’t imagine why no one likes Dr. Wagner with that attitude. Wagner alsos thinks outload about joining Los Perros del Mal so he’d have some actual backup, perhaps not remembering how they hate him too. To be fair, Perro Jr. is quoted about considering it, so maybe Damian will have to remind him later. Perro says that if Wagner joins, he has to understand that Perro is the one in charge. So that’s not happening.

I think RFC was worked into the dinner bet by someone who knows the promoter is planning a surprise luchador for the stip match in MTY on Friday, and that Tigre Universitario is not losing. I hope the invite el Dentista to take photos wherever they eat.
Thanks Cubs for the links to Ovaciones. I read the Rivera stuff. He thinks Multimedios is doing the big mask stip show on Saturday? I think it’s Azteca.
Interesting stuff on Televisa. I’m thinking CMLL will win and get to put the announcers they want on.
SoloLuchas has Tuesday Arena Mex results including a hilarious tidbit about a female fan leaving the building after getting mad that one of the mini’s dove onto her while she sat in the third row during the tercera. You need not even guess who it was.:)
I should join that wager on the Tigre Universitario mask loss considering I’m getting my head shaved tomorrow and nobody would know the difference.:)
Some guy I’ve never seen post before on the ByL forum is saying Histeria is the newest guy to leave AAA and join CMLL. I normally wouldn’t buy it but…
1) Histeria is Mexican.
2) Histeria is Mexican.
So he fits the criteria of the jumpers.
Sounds like a race war is brewing in Lucha Libre.
