This had been teased at the press conference, but much like CMLL guys actually making it to a CMLL ring, I didn’t totally believe at the time. Ulitmo and Rey finally made it, and maybe the other two eventually will too, so perhaps this will come thru.
According to CMLL’s Blog, TNA is sending six wrestlers to the July 25th (Friday) show
– AJ Styles
– Alex Shelley
– Chris Sabin
– Jay Lethal
– Johnny Divine
– Sonjay Dutt
AJ appeared with AAA in 2006, and is the only one who’s worked for both groups (though Sonjay’s appeared on AAA TV when they were showing TNA matches – more facts you don’t need to know.)
Commence complaining about people being left off 1 Friday show of 52 becuase TNA guys will be around instead. I wonder if AJ will be bring his list of moves people aren’t allowed to do to Arena Mexico.

Sabin & Shelly in Cmll could be alot of fun.
so basically we’re looking at 2 trios teams:
Styles/MCMG for the main or semi and Lethal/Devine/Dutt for the tercera. should be interesting to see who they face.
this one i’ll believe when it actually happens though.
@Reallyunavailable: No argument there, Shelley is one of my current favorites and worked great with Shocker when he went to TNA.
I could do without Jay Lethal but otherwise it’s fine group of guys coming over and should make for a fun one night CMLL vs TNA feud. I imagine they’ll have AJ/Shelley/Sabin team to face Bucanero/Guerrero/?Olimpico?-?Azteca?-?Atlantis? and Dutt/Lethal/Devine team to face Volador Jr./Sombra/someone… perhaps Koslov.
Did I read wrong or did you insinuate AJ has worked CMLL before?
@Rob: If I did, I didn’t mean to.
I agree that they’ll try to play of the World X Cup matchups. Actually, instead of doing trios, they should’ve asked for two more and done the Gran Prix Cibernetico (which would make 4 in 5 weeks, but whatever)
@thecubsfan:”AJ appeared with AAA in 2006, and is the only one who’s worked for both groups”
Both groups?
@Rob: Nevermind, I get it now. You meant he’ll have worked for both groups after this appearence. Gotcha.
It’ll probably be the Gran Prix, they’ll put Ultimo Dragon and Corleone on its team and won’t be TNA vs CMLL but CMLL vs the World.
Interestingly, Televisa lists CMLL for just one-hour over the next two weeks. So if something happens, it will be a lot easier to fill the slot.
Actually, X-Chui is right, Televisa is the best possible coverage, at least in the short-term. I really don’t think ArMex and Coliseo attendance would drop at all if CMLL leaves Televisa, but around the country, it could hurt their image and reduce the valuable bookings that the talent relies on.
But then again, Reynosa/Matamoros and Laredo have not had a Galavision/9 affiliate in years, and both groups get bookings in those markets. Laredo does have that local 2, but they air Lucha at like midnight last I heard, and it could be any group.
What are the moves AJ uses that are banned in Arena Mexico? I was not aware that they are like the WWE in having a “banned moves list.” I have seen various wrestlers use the Styles Clash over the years, so I am confused here.
@J. Corzo Cubby: I *think* Cubs meant that A.J. has a rep for making sure that if he uses a move, nobody else on the card can use that same move or even a slight variation of it.
I for one would love to see A.J. try to tell Hooligan that he can’t use the Hooligan Crash. That may lead to the best action of the night.:)
@Rob: LOL
Sabin, Shelly, A.J., Sonjay and Jay should be a lot of fun. I’m surprised they didn’t send Joe.
