CMLL Record #1

taped 05/14, aired 05/18 in the US

They listed this in the program guide as a different show than the regular one (and listed it as episode 1), but I still haven’t decided if I should just stick in the regular FSE index. It’s not like their numbering of the regular FSE shows is that accurate – they seem to have counted the WWA shows in their episode count. No one cares, moving on…

How do you fit four CMLL matches in 90 minutes? Skip the inbetween features and clip up the matches quite a bit.

Minis 6:02
Infernales/Axel 8:25
Perros/tecnicos 8:31
Guerreros/Mistico 6:59

If you can’t get a 9 minute match, what are you doing. There was fun stuff here, but a great match? Not so much.

06/23: DF, GDL, Monterrey, Zumbido

Shocker pinned Atlantis in the main event, and requested a shot at Atlantis’ NWA championship. No details on the tag tournament yet but the final. Flash & Stuka are referred to as Los Angeles del Ring on CMLL; Flash wasn’t in the vignette that aired on FSE so who knows. Dark Angel suffered a head injury on a dive in her match.

5) Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Texano Jr. b Alex Koslov, Rayman, Sagrado
6) Héctor Garza & Místico b Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]

Rudos took the first, tecnicos took the second, both rudos beat Garza in the second but Mistico managed to beat Mephisto with a ‘rana. Mistico and Averno ended in the usual fashion.

3) Dranser & Turbina b Memo Valles & Nightmare

Voltaje Negro turned on his partner in the semimain for the DQ.

Averno, Atlantis Ultimo, Rey and Volador should be headed to Orlando for the TNA tapings. Tonight’s Team Mexico World Cup X match is Ultimo and Rey vs Team Japan’s Naruki Doi and Masato Yoshino, according to wrestling observer radio.

(Ovaciones) Dr. Wagner retained the UWA Heavyweight Championship over LA Park on Sunday in Arena Naucalpan.

Looks Zumbido lost his hair in Salon Sagitario, Neza last night. The match had been announced as a cage match with Intocable, Alan Stone, Super Calo, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido and Decnnis, but it’s unclear who showed up besides Decnnis (who might have taken his partner’s hair.) The post is a teaser for a full Gladiatores report later on, so keep checking their site.

(mariotepicense @ el Martiente) Attendance was estimated as 15,000 for a CMLL outdoor show in Tepic on the third.

Satanico‘s 35th anniversary interview got to ESTO this morning. This one mentions the two hair matches he wish he had done were with Perro Sr. and El Faraon.

(Mr. Reyes) Luchas 2000 #425 focuses on Mistico going to Beijing as part of Televisa’s Olympics coverage. Negra’s turn is relegated to the bottom of the page.
