06/15: notes, lineups

new champs/CMLL

Cesar @ box y lucha says Scorpio and Zumbido may have left AAA. They’d be going indy (and to IWRG.) The new Guapos would be Decnnis, El Brazo, and possibly Alan called up from the Barrio Boys. The same posts says Tinieblas is coming in to join the Vipers.

CMLL’s blog has a post wondering who will lead the Vipers now? Good question, not sure why they would care.

Meanwhile, the latest Super Luchas (#268) has a big interview with Mr. Niebla. Niebla says, though in different words that he left AAA and went back to CMLL because he wants a big mask match. He blames the Abismo Negro match not happening on Abismo’s last of professionalism and repeats his mentions of Mistico and Dr. Wagner.

It’s pretty clear Niebla’s been promised a mask match against one of those two (and, more important, the payoff from one of those matches.) CMLL’s probably thrilled with this turn of events – besides sticking it to AAA, they sidestep the usual major show problem of finding someone willing to actually lose something of significance. I think it’d actually better for CMLL if someone a step below Wagner or Mistico won – maybe Dos getting a big win, maybe Shocker getting his win back after all this time – because Mistico getting the win won’t really mean much and it’s way too soon to start counting on Wagner being around for long stretches. But those are the two guys who clearly are being thought about for whenever they do it.

Dr. Wagner Jr. told NotiMex he was happy to be back and ready to face Niebla one on one if he wants it. Noroeste also has an interview with Wagner, taken from the recent show where he defended the UWA Heavyweight Title against Fuerza Guerrera (and alreadly a little dated.)

Texano Jr. says this win was the biggest of his career.

– El Norte recaps both shows

– Father’s Day special: El Hijo del Santo talks about his father, and his son talks about Hijo del Santo.

Monthly retelling of the Cyclon McKey story. Or it just seems like someone writes that story every month.

Incognito is interviewed to promoted the Lucha Libre London show.

AAA hasn’t updated their website yet. Galavision’s running boxing in Accion’s timeslot. Ovaciones didn’t put up today’s edition.

  1. Poor Ultimo Guerrero, once again, he gets to nanny another tecnico reject turned rudo, well, at least, Mr Niebla was doing pretty good lately.

I forgot about accion as well, AAA started at 17:00 or a bit earlier and I guess Accion was done before that.

  2. Even with the Coliseo tag tourney added we seem to be a match short for next Sunday but the only possible thing being built is the mini’s who had a revancha this week. But no titles are involved and nothing was built last week as far as I could tell. How odd.

Greco Stone MIGHT be the yongest brother who was a great amateur wrestler but never caught on in the Lucha Libre world. He worked some IWRG in 2006 and sometimes Coacalco as well.

  3. Goleador=Super Calo?

Scorpio and Zumbido were in that skit of Guapos beating up Porky, could have been taped but it would seem unlikely for them to leave when they might be in for a push.

  4. Next AAA Tapings:

    June 29 Irapuato
    July 05 Acapulco
    July 13 Salamanca
    July 20 Monterrey

Interesting as to where the Mty taping will be held, I assume Soli, although it might be small compared to where AAA is usually running show, Acapulco is at Centro de Convenciones, where Televisa usually runs big shows…

  5. After the High Society flop, Shocker was said to be wanting to do the Guapos U again, but I don’t think CMLL would use either unless it is for a 3 week hair loss to Leon-O or something like that.

BTW, funny how, out of nowhere, Negro Casas is now teaming up with Wagner…

  6. The lineup for the 2nd block of the Coliseo tourney is not so good. :(

So which is the worst team of all time – Fabian and Mictlan… or Molotov and Astro Boy?…

  7. Actually, it was

Hijo del Santo & Super Parka vs Blue Demon Jr & Hator, but in the third fall, Super Parka turned on Santo Jr and, because the fans were demanding it, Demon made the save.
