06/14: recaps, lineups

Recaps from last night: Ovaciones (both), ESTO (only CMLL), Luxor Extrem @ el Martiente (CMLL). AAA’s site is promising photos from the show (and hopefully info on the next show) on Sunday. No word yet on the esmas.com replay of TripleMania, though that’s not expected up until at least noon central time today.

Before TripleMania, Silver King and the Junior Capos had a skirmish, mostly to emphasis Silver King still plans on working his scheduled indy dates, including the Europe shows.

CMLL (TUE) 06/17 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Calígula & Méssala
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Flash, Metálico vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Skandalo
3) Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr. vs Bronco III, Vangelis, Virus
4) Negro Casas, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Texano Jr.
5) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Shocker vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Texano doesn’t seem to get any boost this week based on his win. Neither does Hijo del Fantasma.

CMLL (FRI) 06/20 Arena Mexico
1) Arkangel de la Muerte & Hooligan vs Astro Boy & Starman
2) Máscara Púrpura, Máximo, Metalik vs Diamante Negro, Dr. X, Vangelis
3) Felino, Grey Shadow, La Sombra vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Místico vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Heavy Metal, Negro Casas vs Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Águila

No Mr. Niebla. Semifinal is a match up between the last two teams the new Trios champs beat on the way to the title, so they’re setting up number #1 contenders there.

  1. There’s an esmas promo that this month has its video on demand and live tv for free… but only in Mexico… also, I think you have to suscribe and buy some months and this one gets in for free.

  2. In some shocking news – the feed is up!!! But I dunno what is airing or when it’s airing.

Can you believe it? NO WOMEN PROGRAMMED AT ALL NEXT WEEK! I don’t hate the women of course but they’ve been in every segunda slot taped for GdR for about 4 weeks straight now so it’s a freshing break. Of course there are no mini’s either but what can you do?

Tuesday looks like a solid show that I’ll try to catch next week if I’m in town. Valiente seems to be getting elevated which is a good thing. It’d have sucked for them to take away his push based on the one blown dive.

Friday also looks good up until that shitty main event. More Wagner bullshit and it’s another meaningless match as Niebla is just gonna do another run-in. Semi-main could be fun but why isn’t Mistico resting? Good to see Sombra back in action and of course… METALIK! That’s the GdR spot so YAAAAAAAY!:D Hopefully he goes all out (when doesn’t he?).

Wouldn’t be surprised to see lineup changes mid-week to remove Mistico and add Niebla.

Hopefully Arena Coliseo group 2 teams come out soon.

  3. CMLL TV is on now but I missed the intro so no idea what’s airing…

MINI’S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Segunda from Sunday @ Arena Coliseo.

But first up (yes mini’s are later in the show) is Lady Apache’s return match to Arena Mexico which has to be a repeat unless something else aired on GdR a few weeks back.

  4. If what happened last time happens again this time as relates to what FSE airs – the tag match with the new faces (Soberano, Catedratico, etc.) should make FSE.

  5. As if it would have hurt them to go back a further week to air the Neutron/Flash/Virus/Bronco Sunday segunda :(

  6. New mini’s are making TV. It’s a happy day, Henrik! There was a clip of a crazy Pequeno Ninja tope suicida…

  7. Mini’s are up next and main event is a repeat of the Koslov, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Misterioso II, Aguila, Efesto match from last week.

  8. Aw… father’s day skit.

I think I know who the new mini’s are but I’ll finish the match before saying for sure.

  9. Thank god for commercial breaks although it looks like the third fall/second fall respectively will clash.

  10. So once again I must point out we go from having no mini’s matches in YEARS to having dueling mini’s matches with PEQUENO NINJA making TV in his first two appearences.

This means Rayos Tapatios vs Caligula/Messala may air next week.:D

  11. Tigre Meatlico injuring Apolcalipsis aired on Momentos.

    Pequeno Ninja = Rascal Matsuzaki.

I assume therefore that Nino De Acero is a Toryumon buddy of his, just don’t know who yet.

C3 match was actually better! Dorada was great but the Coliseo match was short and had very little big flying spots. C3 had a ton of neat exchanges and wasn’t butchered by editing.

  12. What was the Tigre metalico spot? His dive that looked like it was some sort of springboard/assisted plancah as he looked nowhere near the turnbuckles?

I thought the C3 minis match was pretty dire. My #1 worst match since the mini’s started airing again last year :(

I really hate Maximo whether it’s full size or mini. Surely lucha fans don’t actually buy that crap that they pass off as ‘comedy’?

Ninja looked ok, if a bit generic and boring considering how interesting and unorthodox a martial arts gimmick should really be

  13. I liked the match. The opening exchange was pretty good with tags as they were running the ropes. Little Maximo being tossed around and picked on by Peq. Warrior was funny.:) THEY EVEN DANCED! Third fall was pretty fun too.

Pequeno Ninja definitely didn’t win me over but I wasn’t a big fan of his as Rascal either. He’s not mini size… but not tall enough to be a regular sized guy… so he doesn’t really fit in anywhere.:/ Pequeno Damian carried him big time in their Toryumon feud.

Tigre Blanco assisted Metalico into a springboard plancha and it was just a fluke that Apocalipsis took all the impact on one arm and was in serious pain.

  14. I just found out that there’s like half a dozen TVC channels over here but none carries TVC Deportes, and there’s no C3 either… C52Mx is indeed gone and FSE is there somewhere but I don’t really care enough to look for it…

  15. TVC Deportes actually has a show tonight with a tag match from Monterrey (Mistico, Wagner, Olimpico, Guerrero) + the Parka/Tiger mask match.

I gotta say… this new Bronco is really winning me over! I like his style.

Leono w/ new look is the same Leono. What a horrible dive. And then Mictlan somehow does a running somersault plancha onto his own back.

  16. Damn, now I found the TVC Deportes at last!! That’s what I get for never watching TV…

  17. Looks like it was bait and switch and TVC never aired the masks match. Instead they used the excuse that some higher force decided they couldn’t show it. Mmhmm.

  18. I think it was the match with Mistico and Olimpico which couldn’t be aired, I guess they’ll show only matches with Silver King, unless it turns out AAA is the one behind this… which I doubt.

  19. Man that LLC show is hard to watch. Good main event though with Virus and Volador carrying the workload. And Aztec Warrior wasn’t that bad in a US indy type way. Hell I’m surprised he’s not with Lider and Crazy Boy.

Speaking of Volador, I wasn’t to high on him when I saw him on regular CMLL tv but he does good on LLC. I’m impressed.

  20. OK, so, then, you watched MTY lucha without someone paying you?

BTW, it seems that the LL doesn’t exist anymore, so it should be LyC.

  21. I usually watch just for the main events. Navarro/Solar last week and the Virus tag match yesterday. But man there is no one in the crowd. You could literally hear the crickets last night.

  22. C3 changes their weekday lineup on Monday. We’ll have to have a heads up to see if they change their weekend lineup as well, as it could change CMLL’s timeslot.

  23. Pics of arena coliseo mty show that Mistico bombed there as well a bombing with Aguayo in Monumental… is mty lucha dead? If so, what they did wrong and what has to be avoided to do elsewere?
