06/10: Niebla to CMLL, Laredo Hurt

In case you missed it below, Mr. Niebla is returning to CMLL. CMLL’s confirmed this on their website. His first scheduled match is on Sunday, but I’d figure CMLL would have him walk out and wave on Friday just to prove he’s there and not at TripleMania.

This isn’t a real big deal for that show – would it have happened if the Abismo/Niebla direct mask match was still on? that would’ve been interesting – but it does cost AAA an upper mid level rudo whom they’ve put in a lot of effort in rebuilding the last 18 months. Niebla’s career was nosediving in CMLL due to his own personal issues to the point of CMLL kicking him out of the promotion. AAA helped him get back towards the guy thought enough of to take Shocker’s mask.

AAA can easily put Histeria or Antifaz in the trios match at TripleMania, but where do the Vipers go from here? Abismo’s MIA, taking away their feud. Mr. Niebla’s gone, taking away the reason for that feud. Do they get a new target, or do they become rudderless like the Guapos, the Air Force and (what’s left of) the Stones? It shouldn’t be hard to pair them up with someone, but if Abismo’s not going to be back for a while, will AAA have interest in pushing a group where Psicosis II might be the most important guy? They broke up the Vipers last time that happened.

The other note in Alexis’ post was Sunday’s show will be Arena Mexico. I know it’s Father Day, but it’s an odd time to do yet another big show. (Don’t forget, on top of everyone else, IWRG is doing their own cage mask match on Thursday.) Despite not actually being in Arena Coliseo, the Arena Coliseo tag team tournament goes on.

CMLL (SUN) 06/08 Arena Coliseo [KrisZ]
1) Catedratico & Soberano b Corsario & Hechicreo
2) Mascarita Dorada, Pequeno Ninja, Tzuki b Nino de Acero, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Axel, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. b Caifan Rockero I, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
4) Felino, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. b Damián 666, Misterioso II, Mr. Águila
5) Blue Panther, Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone b Terrible, Texano Jr., Villano V

Arena Cuatro Camino is an unlucky place to wrestle lately. RFC says Laredo suffered a fractured leg while wrestling Scoria. Just like Charly, it’s a reoccurance of a previous injury – Laredo hurt the leg last year at the Pena Memorial show and was out for many months. It sounds as bad this time.

CMLL (SUN) 06/15 Arena Coliseo
1) Sombra de Plata & Starman vs Ramstein & Zayco
2) Mascarita Dorada, Pequeno Ninja, Shockercito vs Nino de Acero, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Leono & Tony Rivera vs Ángel Azteca Jr. & Máscara Púrpura and Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II and Metálico & Metalik and Arkangel de la Muerte & Hooligan and Calígula & Méssala and Artillero & Súper Comando and Euforia & Nosferatu [Coliseo TAG, torneo]
4) ? & ?? vs ??? & ???? [Coliseo TAG, torneo, quarterfinal]
5) ? & ?? vs ??? & ???? [Coliseo TAG, torneo, quarterfinal]
6) ? & ?? vs ??? & ???? [Coliseo TAG, torneo, quarterfinal]
7) ? & ?? vs ??? & ???? [Coliseo TAG, torneo, quarterfinal]
8) ? & ?? vs ??? & ???? [Coliseo TAG, torneo, semifinal]
9) ? & ?? vs ??? & ???? [Coliseo TAG, torneo, semifinal]
10) ? & ?? vs ??? & ???? [Coliseo TAG, torneo, final]
11) Heavy Metal, Marco Corelone, Volador Jr. vs Misterioso II, Olimpico, Rey Bucanero
12) Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza, Místico vs Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

Top two matches are changed around from what’s been announced previously. Zayco replaces Apocalipsis, who was hurt last Friday. Best case for TV is one show gets the entire tournament (this week and next) and the other gets the top two matches.

Arturo Rivera’s Ovaciones column hopes CMLL doesn’t screw up the deal with TNA. I think Arturo filed his column early to make the flight to NY. Also, Super Nova goes to Spain next week for a couple months.

4) Blue Demon Jr. & El Hijo Del Santo vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & Hator

I’m thinking Wagner is smart enough to no-show that one.

CMLL posted video of Friday’s tercera in 1, 2, 3, 4 parts.

Box Y Lucha 2874 has two covers, one with each lineup.

Box Y Lucha posted one of their bursts of content. All videos from the TripleMania confrence.
Apaches discussing the hair matches
Ricky Marvin and Crazy Boy on Ricky Marvin
Mesias about winning at TripleMania. He’s 0-2 so far.
Zorro about the title match
Prez Roldan talks about the internet broadcast. It’s going to be video on demand (whatever esmas’s version of YouTube is), though Roldan says here he’s not sure when it’ll go up.

Notimex also talks to Gran Apache, who blames this whole mess on Billy Boy as usual. Fabi’s the black sheep of the family , so as much as he loves both his daughters, it’s for the best that Mari takes her hair. Gran Apache admits he’s not sure who’s going to win.

CMLL (SAT) 06/14 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [rfc]
1) Angel del Silencio vs Rey Pantera
2) Atomo & Gato Fantasma vs Azteca Warrior & Dark War
3) Cosmos & Turbina vs Memo Valles & Sky
4) Orquidea Negra & Silver Star vs Black Diamond & Potro Jr.
5) Místico & Stuka Jr. vs Averno & Virus

CMLL (SUN) 06/15 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [cmll]
1) Carlo Roggi & Novato vs Milenio & Valentin Mayo
2) Idolo & Oro II vs Depredador (Guadalajara) & Fraile de la Muerte
3) Magnum, Metatron, Nube Roja vs Exterminador, Güero Loco, Super Maquina
4) Casanova vs Cien Caras Jr.
5) Gallo, La Máscara, La Sombra vs Black Warrior, Mephisto, Sangre Azteca
6) Blue Panther & Dos Caras Jr. vs Villano IV & Villano V

A couple of the villanos for a new ABC Family live action super hero show are mexican wrestlers with a huge ray gun. Hey, now I know where Abismo Negro (and Mano Negra) disappeared to. Alternate joke: must’ve been a lot of work for the costume designer to come up with those masks.

Based on the insane trouble I had just to post stuff this morning, I know I’m making the right move moving entirely to WordPress. I did decide to 99% of the work in the background, and I figured out how to do without messing up anything here. The site won’t switch over to the new code until Tuesday – so the issues during TripleMania/Jucio Final aren’t new ones – but you can watch me work on the new look in bursts over at the test site.

  1. First thought on Niebla jumping: What the HELL?!?!

He builds himself back up to be the guy I knew he was, only to leave AAA and go back to EMLL. Ok, either he said he had enough of the bush league hard core antics and wanted to return to real wrestling or, hell I don’t know.

I just wonder what made him go back to EMLL, where does this leave Abismo (who might just turn rudo again and lead the Vipers) and what happened to Los Bello Stones?

  2. Yup. He didn’t even go through Naucalpan or Neza to prove himself first. Straight to Arena Coliseo for the main event.

  3. Someone posted the AAA card for Sunday at RFC’s board and says it’s a TV taping. Sounds weird since the show isn’t loaded at all but it does feature only regular TV people so who knows. I thought they’d supplement Triplemania with the Expo Lucha to spread the show over 3 weeks.

As for Niebla… I’m the Chui camp here. He’s only back to lose his mask. It’ll never be more valuable than it is now b/c he can say Abismo ran from him and Abismo can say nothing back b/c he’s got personal issues to deal with. I wonder if they’re gonna test the waters to see how hot they can get Niebla and delay the Mistico/Perrito match longer if they can get away with Niebla losing in September.

Poor Black Abyss. That’s what happens when your entire gimmick is based around feuding with one person and that person ends up disapearing.

Laredo injury seems legit and is pretty shitty. He came back too fast the first time around (remember the 5-6 month prognosis and he was back working as a second taking bumps less than 2 months later and in the ring 3 months after the injury) so let’s hope he smartens up. You’d think of all people Konnan would talk some sense into him since it was only a few months back a certain guy names Charles was all over CNN talking about how wrestlers get forced to rush back before they are healed properly. He now has the power to help a young promising kid out. Let’s see what happens.

Wagner shouldn’t have to no-show a card since he’s an indy guy… even if Santo is around.

God bless CMLL. Starting the ARENA COLISEO tag titles tournament in ARENA MEXICO. That and the visa excuse just make CMLL look so amateur.

  4. Ahem, it’s a tv taping, a MTY TV taping, not a Galavision national AAA taping.

Black Abyss is the de facto Abismo Negro II so I wouldn’t worry too much for him, I guess Vipers can continue being an undercard rudo team at least for a while…

It’s a bad career move for Mr Niebla, look at El Pantera, Flecha, Jeque or Charles, Mogur or even Black Warrior and Lizmark Jr, CMLL won’t give a rat ass for Niebla once he drops the hood, at least in AAA he could play a wacky character for a while…

  5. Meltzer is reporting Danielson is moving to Mexico City for the summer. I guess he will be a regular in AAA. Signing Danielson is not a bad move.

  6. Yeah, but taped for what MTY channel? Did Televisa Monterrey finally commit to a weekly show? Or is Azteca Monterrey taping it?

  7. The guy who posted uses the name of the local promoter, and I’ve always thought it was really him.

He says “Televisa” which does not rule out it being just local. I noticed a wrestler named “TDM” who I’ve always thought was “Televisa Deportes Monterrey”.

  8. What part of it’s taped locally was not understood?

Televisa Mty has been running local lucha libre for a while, but mty lucha sucks wherever and whoever it has… well, not only lucha but I don’t want to go off topic. =)

NotiAAA said next taping will take place the 28th or 29th, I don’t remember.

  9. Televisa MTY used to be on SKY along with Televisa Guadalara, so that would’ve been the ideal time to get on the station.

I wonder if anyone has put the Lucha from Televisa MTY on youtube yet?

  11. As posted in the SL blog, pretty weird that CMLL removed all mentions about Mr Niebla on their site…

  12. It could be as simple as someone using an out of date page for the news, since the actual lineup was never put up – whoever was racing to put the Mistico news up didn’t grab the current page from the website and saved over the Niebla one, maybe. I’ve done that plenty.

It’s still very strange there’s no lineup, which is the best indication there’s something more here.

  13. I think that the no lineup was to prevent fans from choosing going to AAAMania with the logic of “we´ll be seeing Wagner 2 days later with a 2×1 offer anyways”. But the news actually mention Wagner being in the Father’s Day show.
