05/26: Coliseo, LLF, IWRG. lineups

CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 05/25 Arena Coliseo [ovaciones]
1) Molotov & Trueno b Calígula & Méssala
2) Bronco II, Loco Max, Virus b Flash, Neutrón, Soberano Jr.
3) Hooligan, Sangre Azteca, Satánico b Grey Shadow, Metalik, Stuka Jr.
4) Negro Casas, Shocker, Volador Jr. b Averno, Mephisto, Olimpico
5) Alex Koslov b Rey Bucanero [CMLL LH]

Ovaciones says this is defense #10 for Rey.

Volador replaced Dos, Olimpico replaced Villano V in the semimain. Tecnicos won in straight falls.

Hooligan replaced Olimpico in the third match. Ovaciones results lists Soberano Jr., but that’s gotta be Hijo de Soberano.

Marco Rivera says TripleMania will be on Sky PPV in Mexico. It will not be on US PPV – there’s actually a women’s boxing match listed for that night. The reasoning of bringing in Lashley and Danielson was on request of a person on the US side who wanted more US names to make the PPV marketable. I don’t know that those two really mean a lot – Lashley didn’t mean much to WWE’s buyrates and it’s not like ROH is doing great numbers – but they probably didn’t have tons of options either. Anyway, we’ll have to wait and see what this means for the event airing on Televisa (and in the US) down the road.

5) Fantasma, Hijo del Fantasma, Ultramán Jr. b Hijo de Pierroth, Mascara Sagrada, Veneno

The WON says the CMLL team for TNA’s World X-Cup will be Volador Jr., Ultimo Guerrero, Averno and Rey Bucanero. Seeing as we still haven’t had that CMLL/TNA press conference, I wouldn’t take the list too seriously.

  1. Konnan been talking about this in the past and I guess this will not air on ppv in the US when it all said and done.

Do you still believe Konnan think Americans is more important than Mexican wrestlers? I think he just took a small risk adding Lashley and Danielson(which probably cost the same amount as Scott Steiner,Rikishi, and Sabu from last year)

Konnan would be stupid to try this again next year and I don’t think he will. 2 years in a row and they still not on US ppv.

I would think AAA would do better on ppv than ROH with just using AAA guys but I guess the “connect” don’t see things like that.

  2. I can’t wait to see the pictures which should easily clear up if it was the other Soberano (and then we must ask why he is hiding in Mexico City without wrestling at all) or if they just had Euforia do his old gimmick.

  3. Like predicted a few weeks ago, we’d find out within three weeks if it would be a PPV or not.

All this bullshit about US “people” etc….are just lies and fantasy. Televisa owns the show if it’s on SKY, they’ll have their announcers, their copyright and they already have a long term contract with Univision in the United States, so these “people” who want “US names” are all fantasy.

  4. Is Park flip flopping for certain shows? Rudo in one place technico in the others?

  5. This is assuming AAA knows Televisa would own the show and if AAA would bother to honor that commitment. They SHOULD know, but you’ve got to allow for all the possibilities with lucha libre.

  6. How do you think AAA would do on PPV in the US?

I think they would be good for 5,000 buys or so. That’s clearing Dish, Direct and InDemand. Even if there is a women’s boxing event on, AAA can still run a PPV. There are now over 30 PPV channels on most carriers.

But to get 5,000 buys, AAA would need a full-time staff of about three people working on marketing/advertising for weeks leading into the show. They’d also need Galavision on board as a media sponsor, and maybe try to squeeze something out of Corona/Modelo too.

  7. Joey Mercury at least brings a nice fur coat to the table. I wouldn’t bring in either guy, but at least he was memorable in WWE for a stint. Jesus is big in Mexico, but I don’t mean the gimmick Aaron Aguila used for a month in WWE.

I think I should just start assuming any wacky US wrestlers participating means someone thinks they’re selling it to the US and they need Big Names (even when they clearly aren’t.)

  8. AAA does not have tv. Televisa has a tv show called AAA. I just felt like saying that.

  9. AAA owns any footage from the last 8 years. I think it safe to say AAA own AAA tv.

  10. “Possession is ownership in wrestling”. Still, AAA can’t televise any of the footage that aired on Televisa, because Televisa owns the international rights. So AAA can’t sell the footage(old or current) to international buyers like CMLL/MVS has done. The show we watch on Galavision is Televisa’s, not AAA’s.

  11. My deal with it is, ok I understand you are trying to get some big paydays and give people work, but sometimes too much is not a good thing, like AAA bringing in Bobby Lashley and Scott Steiner on name alone. You have a million or so guys in Mexico’s independents and big names in mexico who would have loved an opportunity to work a big show for either CMLL or AAA, in Konnans case, some of them are his friends he has worked with in TNA or WCW.

It is my belief that basically Mexico is the new version of Japan. Everybody runs to Mexico but actually, you still see foreigners in Japan, just not as much as you used to.
