05/23: Mexico preview, Villanos

CMLL

Tonight’s CMLL show:

CMLL (FRI) 05/23 Arena Mexico
1) Stuka Jr. & Súper Nova vs Ohara & Shigeo Okumura
2) Dark Angel, Goddess, Luna Mágica vs Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
3) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Negro Casas vs Damián 666, Terrible, Texano Jr.
4) Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Shocker vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
5) Héctor Garza & Místico vs Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]
6) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo vs Toscano, Heavy Metal [hair]

Ovaciones has it’s preview on page 18 (look, I can link to pages now.) NotiMex has an equally generic preview. ESTO has bios on all three guys and the rest of the card..

I’ve got Heavy over Toscano and Averno & Mephisto getting the tag team titles. They really need clean finishes but I’m not expecting them. The whole deal about getting different referees for this match hasn’t been brought up in weeks, but I expect it’ll play in.

Note there was no CMLL/TNA press conference yesterday. Until it actually happens, it hasn’t happened.

The Villanos press conference to announce their website was covered all over the place. The site is www.dinastiaimperial.com.mx, and has music playing on the main page if you’ve got your speakers up. Right now, it appears to be only bios of the Villanos and Ringo, which makes the talk about interacting with the fans a bit odd – there’s not even an email address on the website. Ovaciones had an article about the press conference, and there’s a similar one on Notimex. III, IV and V are supposed to team up next Friday in Arena Mexico.

MedioTiempo says Charly Manson’s fractured femur was the same one he broke in 2001, in the bump off the ladder gone very bad. They put in four bolts and a plate to unite the broken leg.

Mr. Reyes posted photos of last night’s IWRG taping. Results will be in the next Gladiatores.

SuperLuchas notes Mascara Sagrada’s new look. Not sure why he’d get a new one after having a court battle to keep the old image.

AAA RAMS (SUN) 05/25 Gimnasio Ricardo Flores Magon [Noticas Oaxaca]
1) Argenis & Pathfinder vs Silver Cat & Toxico
2) Mascarita Sagrada 2007 & Mini Dizzy vs Jerrito Estrada & Mini Ozz
3) Laredo Kid & Super Fly vs Chris Stone & Super Calo
4) Juventud Guerrera & Ultimo Gladiador vs Black Abyss & Histeria
5) Scorpio Jr. vs Silver Cat, La Chiva, Mr. Niebla, Oriental, Super AAA [hair, mask]
6) Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz vs ?, El Elegido, Intocable

This is actually only half the card – there’s supposed to be “more than 10 fights and two rings”.

CMLL (SUN) 05/25 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy vs Ebola
2) Oro II & Virgo vs Danger (Guadalajara) & Valentin Mayo
3) Lider, Metatron, Nube Roja vs Exterminador, Güero Loco, Super Maquina
4) Casanova, Gallo, Rayman vs Infierno, Malefico, Vaneglis
5) La Sombra, Máximo, Sagrado vs Black Warrior, Mr. Trueno, Toscano
6) Atlantis & Universo 2000 vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Texano Jr.

I like how they’re sending Vaneglis on the road, but GDL has so little faith in him that they’re putting him in a locals match and bumping Mr. Trueno up.

CMLL (TUE) 05/27 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Palacio Negro vs Relampago
2) Imposter vs Fraile de la Muerte
3) El Idolo vs El Egipcio
4) Leon Blanco & Magnum vs Angel Blanco Jr. & Máscara Mágica
5) El Gallo vs Damián 666
6) Alex Koslov & Volador Jr. vs Black Warrior & Sangre Azteca
7) Dos Caras Jr. vs Atlantis

  1. Question, if Garza and Mistico were to “have problems” that would mean Garza would turn heel again almost 3 or 4 months after he turned face no?

  2. I have to respectfully disagree on both accounts Mr. Cubs Fan. I’m going with Toscano winning the 3 way and Perrito shaving Heavy Metal *clean* to make up for his low blow win over Garza. This would be to build him up stronger for his September match with Mistico which is still coming in my opinion.

Tag Titles can go either way. Logic says Averno/Mephisto win since they are the regular team and Mistico/Garza have teased issues in the media during the build-up. So because of that I have no choice but to pick Mistico/Garza as the winners as CMLL loves putting their belts in situations where the champs make no sense.

The cards released for next week should tell a lot about where CMLL is heading b/c the June big show is only 3 weeks away. They’ve got to rush a lot of feuds to fill that cage up as Panther/Villano IV/Fabian/Diamante just won’t do.:P Would not be stunned at all if somehow the events of tonight led to a Perros (Perrito/Terrible/Aguila/Averno/Mephisto) vs Guerreros (Ultimo/Bucanero/Atlantis/Toscano/Warrior) cage match where Toscano gets his head shaved via Perrito to keep building him strong.

  3. I’ve heard that Mascara Sagrada go to keep the name (since it was supposedly invented by a fan-who was probably Peña all along) but the outfit was not granted to him so he had to made the changes.

  4. FYI — Skayde/Pantera tonight went to a double pin.

I was not there, but review(s) have been excellent.

  5. Somehow I had a suspicion there wouldn’t be a finish.;) But that’s really the perfect result if you ask me. Thanks for the update!

  6. DO NOT READ BELOW UNLESS YOU WANT TO KNOW RESULTS!

Mistico/Garza are the new champs. Fans threw money into the ring afterwards.

  7. Even with the money threw in, the match was said to be bad. Long and boring, even the radio people called it that way… not surprising since that tag title match has been like that for a while, same match again.

  8. I don’t trust that review b/c the ByL forum hates Mistico and they interpret it the way they want to.

  9. Their first title match (in ArMex) was bad, so it is only fitting this was bad as well.

  10. It was ok, Mistico and Garza had shaky feet the whole time, Garza was more obvious.

The crowd was happy when they won.
