05/23-25 Lucha Times

box

As mentioned last week, there’s no FSE show in the US this week. FSE is airing a lot of live stuff over the weekend instead. The show is back on the schedule next Sunday.

AAA-US: GdT non-title rematch – Zorro vs Cibernetico vs Mesias. Familia de Tijuana and Mexican Powers finally have their title match. Jack Evans and Teddy Hart team up with the Head Hunter.

CAN52: Women’s Trios and Axxel in action.

CMLL: no mention of matches being skipped this week, and they have the usual slot, so I’m thinking top 3.

AAA-MEX: If they’re airing the Lucha Libre Expo show as a normal week of TV, it should slide in right here.

FSE-MEX: Diamante Negro remain unstoppable and Alex vs Rey.

Cadena3: More Diamante/Fabian, and a tag title preview in the main event.

Vampiro is also scheduled to appear.

Yucacool was nice enough to also to post the poster for June 1 in Merida, which looks exactly the same unless you pay attention to the words. Both shows seem to just keep the feuds simmering.

I’m thinking Alan Stone is ending up as the universal replacement for Charly, but that’s not confirmed.

05/20: Mexico

CMLL (TUE) 05/20 Arena Mexico [Mr. Burbu @ el Martiente]
1) Molotov & Sensei b Carrona & Cholo
2) Metalico, Tigre Blanco, Tony Rivera b Arkangel de la Muerte, Bronco III, Hooligan
3) Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Mictlán DQ Diamante Negro, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Olímpico, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero b Blue Panther, Negro Casas, Volador Jr.
5) Héctor Garza, Místico, Sagrado DQ Averno, Mephisto, Villano V

Averno and/or Mephisto yanked Mistico’s mask when he had the match won.

Semimain was all UG being a rudo. He pulled Panther’s mask to win the first fall and snuck in a foul to win the third.

Diamante Negro got caught giving Fabian el Gitano a big low blow. Either they’re close to finish that off on TV or they’re going to stretch it all the way to the cage match.

Ovaciones interviews Heavy Metal about the big hair match. (Scroll to page 18.) He sounds as non-thrilled about Perro’s inclusion as Toscano. Metal sees the hair match as his 20th anniversary celebration. Meanwhile, Averno & Mephisto are pretty sure they’re winning the tag titles, seeing as they’ve been the best team in the world for the last five or six years.

MT has a couple stories about AAA: one confirming the top 2 matches at TripleMania, another going over the 05/25 taping. These are all articles reprinted word for word from AAA’s website, as always.

In an interview MedioTiempo, the Junior Diamantas said they will be branching out including talking to the WWE. Yea, so am I.

CMLL (WED) 05/28 Gimansio Ricardo Flores Magon, Oaxaca
1) Bam Bam & Mascarita Divina vs Pequeño Damian 666 & Pequeño Halloween
2) Máximo, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
3) Averno & el Hijo del Perro Aguayo vs Héctor Garza & Místico

The article claims Valiente is making his return on this show, which would be about a month early.

Projected Air Date (#837)
Mexico: 05/25
US: 06/14

Main event was one of many changed matches on the night. Instead of the billed trios, Charly Manson and Zorro’s injuries turned this into a tag match. Except Zorro wasn’t actually all that injured, and snuck in to help the rudos win the match.

Semimain had been listed as a straight tag match, but Alan and Parka were added into the mix. Mesias/Ozz were eliminated due to Vampiro. Vamp challenged Mesias to a street fight, and I think he’s going to accept. Tecnicos won by DQ when Konnan fouled Parka and pulled his mask and they teased a match between the two very hard.

Fourth match was supposed to be a trios, but Abismo Negro is MIA. This would seem to be problematic, as he sure can’t miss TripleMania. Antifaz was dropped from the match but the Vipers got DQed to lose the match. I think it was Psicosis’ fault, but I’m not sure what he did.

X-Fly was indeed the surprise third member of the Hermandad, as given away by advance lineups. I’ve only now just gotten the ‘X-Fly’ name (Mosco -> Fly) and he’s listed as both X-Fly and “the ex Mosco de la Merced” here. Halloween was a bloody mess by the end of the match.

Diabolica replaced Ayako Hamada for no known reason. Mari got Fabi with a top rope superplex.
