05/20: Coliseo, more on Charly

Flash has a new outfit?/CMLL

The Big News: Box Y Lucha says the Arena Coliseo Tag Team Titles are on their way back. Well, it’s “in the plans” for the Generation 75 crew, and those plans also include Hijo de Faraon vs Hijo de Perro Aguayo in a mask/hair match (which ain’t happening) but this is the first time those belts have been brought up in years. This listing of the group has Metalik and Vangelis, for those trying to keep track.

CMLL (SUN) 05/18 Arena Coliseo
1) Molotov & Trueno b Artillero & Zayco
2) Hiroka, La Seductora, Rosa Negra b Goddess, Luna Mágica, Marcela
3) Bronco III, Diamante Negro, Skandalo b Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Metálico
4) Axel, La Máscara, La Sombra b Ephesto, Misterioso II, Vangelis
5) Alex Koslov, Héctor Garza, Místico b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Vangelis might be becoming “Vangelys”, like how Axxel has dropping x seemingly for tradermark purposes. Or maybe it was a typo.

Diamante Negro is rolling, getting the win here with a feet on rope pin of Flash.

(Ovaciones) Charly Manson will be unable to even get in the ring for four months while recovering from a fractured femur. That’s before rehab, which may mean he’s done until 2009. This was also announced at last night’s tapings.

Ovaciones also writes about the high number of shows this week, with WWE in town to join bigger than usual CMLL shows and IWRG shows. Dr. Cerebro apparently advanced to this Sunday’s title match with Multifacetico.

Santo held a press conference yesterday to hype up the Todos x el Todos staffed shows in London next month. Silver King, in mask, showed up to tease a match. Blue Demon Jr. was also interviewed about the shows, but those actually took place at the press conference for the Antonio Margarito vs Miguel Cotto boxing event. Demon will be there on 07/26, accompanying Margarito.

LuchandoLibre has AAA’s latest news update, confirming the Abismo Negro vs All Of The Vipers cage match. I don’t know how this is going to work in practice, but like I said before, I can totally see Abismo Negro accepting this match. It’s actually not a bad way to go for a tecnico. Unless the rudos get their acts together and leave all the same time (and they never ever do), you’re going to end up at worst one on one with a Viper and there’s a chance the Vipers might be forced to fight among themselves to save their mask. Abismo’s just gotta make sure he doesn’t get killed before that point.

Box Y Lucha has a carpet bomb of articles, besides the one mentioned earlier.

Hector Garza’s group is listed here as just young guys Metalik, Metal Blanco, Angel Azteca Jr., Hijo de Faraon, with the idea that Marco, Sombra, Super Nova, Volador and other tecnicos will be helping them out. It doesn’t make a lot of sense, becuase Garza says right before that the group includes six people (2 from Torreon, 3 from GDL, and 1 from DF.)

This slipped past because I was focusing on the membership roll, but calling them “Angeles Guardianes” – the Guardian Angels – is certiantly some sort of shot at Vampiro (who’s working with the group and wanted to do something with the group, with that name, in CMLL before ending up back with AAA.) It plays off Garza’s angelic gimmick enough that it’s not without context, but it’s certainly no coincidence.

Negro Navarro talks about his style. He’s not as critical of high flyers as you might figure, he just points out his style results in losing less time to injury and quality is more important than style, regardless of the style you’re doing. Navarro says he’s very strict with his kids (los Traumas), and will not let them be just mediocre.

– brief bios on the four honored last weekend in CMLL. Lizmark is listed as semi-retired.

– interview with Tampico area tag tam Los Angeles de la Muerte.

AAA (SAT) 05/17 Ex Bodegas del Ron Batey, Cordoba, Veracruz [jaanrovi @ box y lucha]
1) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b el Ángel, Gato Eveready, Pegasso
2) Cinthia Moreno & Estrellita b La Diabólica & La Hechicera
3) Alan Stone & Intocable DQ Cuervo & Pirata Morgan

Clowns were announced as now having won 165 matches straight.

The Villanos website is www.dinastiaimperial.com.mx/ logically enough. It’s not open yet, but there is a contest to win something or other.

AAA (SUN) 05/25 Arena Solidaridad [RFC]
1) Dr. Cianuro vs Iron Extreme
2) Baby Fox, Panterita, Rey Imagen I, Rey Imagen II vs Jorobado II, Jorobados I, Jorobados III, Virual X
3) Mini Charly Manson & Octagoncito vs Mascarita de la Muerte & Mini Chessman
4) Crazy Boy, Pimpinela Escarlata, TDN vs ?, El Brazo, Joe Lider
5) El Alebrije, Mascara Divina, Octagón vs Antifaz del Norte, Electro Shock, Espíritu

SuperLuchas is now selling their magazine as a digital download. You can purchase recent editions for $1.50 in their shop, and edition #262 is free. That’s the one covering Wagner’s march, so it’s a good read. $1.50 is pretty good deal for these magazines, and I hope it works well enough that other magazines feel the need to copy and that it becomes worthwhile to put up older issues. Plus, sticking PDFs in a folder takes up a lot less space than putting magazines on shelves.
