04/06: Coliseo, Kid’s Day, IWRG, Tormenta

No results yet from that show.

CMLL (SUN) 04/06 Arena Coliseo
1) Méssala & Pólvora b Sensei & Trueno
2) Atomo, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito DQ Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico b Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Tony Rivera
4) Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela b Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
5) Mr. Águila, Terrible, Texano Jr. b Grey Shadow, Máximo, Valiente
6) Dos Caras Jr., Místico, Shocker DQ Atlantis, Toscano, Último Guerrero

It came down to UG and Mistico. Mistico got La Mistica, so UG yanked off his own mask and tossed it away. Somehow, Tigre Hispano bought this and gave him a DQ win.

Dark Angel pinned Amapola again. If it matters. Third match was completely unadvertised, has no pictures, and might be a typo on some level (or they’re doing a feud, I guess.) (Never mind, it was a typo.) Pierrothito yanked Dragoncito’s mask en route to a two fall loss.

CMLL posted it’s Kid’s Day lineup, which has one more match that last year (maybe for CadenaTres purposes?)

CMLL (WED) 04/30 Arena Mexico
1) Ángel Azteca Jr., Astro Boy, Sombra de Plata vs Artillero, Pólvora, Súper Comando
2) Mascarita Dorada vs Bam Bam, Shockercito, Nino de Acero, Pequeño Damian 666, Celestial, Pequeño Halloween, Mr. Aguilita, Pequeno Warrior, Pequeno Ninja [cibernetico]
3) La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Fantasma Jr., La Máscara, Valiente [MEX TRIOS]
4) Marco Corelone, Místico, Shocker vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

The tecnico vs tecnico trios title match finally makes it to DF, though not with the same lineup as elsewhere, where Purpura’s been in Fantasma’s spot.

I’ve got records of a Pequeno Ninja in Jalisco and Xalapa. No idea if this is the same guy. A Nino de Acero has been seen in Queretaro.

7pm is a late start for a Kid’s Day show.

IWRG (SUN) 03/30 Arena Naucalpan [SuperLuchas #258]
1) Judas el Traidor b Halcón Salvaje
2) Avisman & Chico Che b Nemesis IWRG & Rockero del Diablo

5) Hijo del Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000 b Hijo de Anibal, LA Park, Multifacetico

LA Park turned on Anibal in the third fall of the main event. Title match came down to Fantasma de la Opera fouled Fierro, but Fierro still rolled him up for the win.

IWRG (THU) 04/03 Arena Naucalpan [SuperLuchas #258]

5) Dos Caras Sr., Groon XXX, Negro Navarro b Hijo del Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000, Ventarron Negro

(El_Jawa @ Satanico’s Mansion) Fray Tormenta is still upset Mistico hasn’t talked to him or donated anything to him. Either Fray Tormenta truly believes Mistico isn’t actually a kid from his orphanage (which would be odd, because that seems to be false) or Fray Tormenta thinks Mistico should pay the orphanage if he’s going to pretend to be from there.

SuperLuchas #258 has lots on WrestleMania.

Vampiro, never to wrestle again, is involved in some angle for the XPW reunion show.

Spain’s Publico goes to Arena Isabel and talks to Skandalo to find out about lucha libre. No, I know what you’re thinking, but it’s actually good.

El Unvierso writes about the WAR lucha libe group in Ecuador. We need to make a map of all these small promotions in South America.

Estadio W, who hopefully can find time to fix their web audio feed, writes about the 65th Anniversary of Arena Coliseo from a boxing history standpoint.

4) Brazo de Platino, Máximo, Oro Negro vs Loco Max, Nitro, Silver Fox
5) Místico & Sagrado vs Averno & Mephisto

Hmmm. Aren’t there supposed to be No More Lucha Shows in this building?

04/06: GALLI, DTU, Accion, lineups

Quick GALLI results

GALLI (SUN) 04/06 Addison, Illinois
1) El Simbolo b Metoero II
2) Centella de Oro & Nemesis (Chicago) b Funebre & Resistencia
3) Coco Liso & Negrotistico b Isaias Velazques & Steve Boz
4) Amenza del Siglo, Guerrillero, Pentagon del Infierno b Blade, Samuary, Tiger
5) Charly Manson Jr. b Gringo Loco [GALLI]
6) Golden Star b Yakuza [mask]

I’ve already forgot Golden Star’s name, but I think it was something like Asesino ? Morales. No other info. Quinto Sol, Golden Star’s brother, wanted and will receive a match with Yakuza. I’m not sure if it’s a mask match, but that’s obviously the direction they were headed.

Yakzua caused the finish of the title match too, trying for a belt shot on Charly and getting Gringo instead. (Oh, yea, they got a GALLI belt! The IWC belt is still around.) Yakuza kinda just shrugged and left while a #1 contenders match was set up between the two seconds in the match, Amenza del Siglo and Slayer.

Blade randomly turned rudo in the tercera. It wasn’t clear for a bit, because it seemed like a normal miscommunication spot to end it, and then he went after the tecnicos for no particular reason. And them the Meoteros came out and attacked Guerrillero and Pentagon del Infierno for no discernible reason. We’re getting Tiger/Blade and that tag match.

After Coco Liso & Negrotistico’s win/dance party, Isaias demanded a rematch for the next Addison show. Boz will be in Europe then, so it’s mystery partner time.

Ovaciones writes about Solitario (22 years after his death) and Toscano (returning to CMLL starting this afternoon.)

DTU’s Lucha Libre Expo show (05/04) mystery main event wrestlers are Shiima Xion (teaming with Joe Lider) and El Generico (teaming with Crazy Boy.) This would be Generico’s debut in Mexico.

On the same day, the MLS’s Colorado Rapids will be holding a lucha libre show after their game versus DC United. (There’s no good direct link, but you can hunt around for it on their website.) The group working the show is listed as Todos X El Todos, so I’d assume Santo, Demon and whoever else is available but no names are specifically announced.

Accion’s CMLL highlights were off the Park/UG match, which just felt like clips of moves and then no reaction for the finish. The AAA clips were off the ladder match, adn they manged to find 20 seconds of non-botchery. I don’t know how Joe Lider didn’t break his neck on that last sunset flip powerbomb onto a ladder.

Luis Magana, announcer for the Olympic Auditorium Lucha Libre show passed away last month.(Thanks to mikeinformer)

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 04/07 Arena Puebla [SuperLuchas #258]
1) Blue Center, Toro Bill Jr., Toro Bill Sr. vs Black Terry, Negro Navarro, Policeman
2) Máximo, Metálico, Stuka Jr. vs Loco Max, Nitro, Skandalo
3) Pequeño Damian 666 vs Mascarita Dorada [CMLL MINI]
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Héctor Garza, Último Dragón vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Místico vs Último Guerrero

I think we all expect Dorada to win the minis title at some point and they have been doing title changes in Puebla of late. It probably won’t be a change, but there is a significant chance. I think this is the most high profile Triad de Terror team up since they were broken up.

IWRG (THU) 04/10 Arena Naucalpan [SuperLuchas #258]
1) Avisman & Comando Negro vs Demente & Rey Estruendo
2) Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. vs El Hijo del Solitario, Dr. Cerebro, El Pantera, Capitán Muerte, Aeroman, Black Terry, Masada, Coco Verde, Veneno [seeding, br]
3) El Dandy vs Hijo del Cien Caras, el Hijo Del Anibal, Negro Navarro, Oficial Fiero, Cocolores, Zatura, Multifacético, Chico Che, Cerebro Negro [seeding, br]

A lot going on here, but first note El Dandy’s back here for the first time in a while and it looks like Dr. Cerebro’s banishment has been lifted.

This is an odd multistage tournament. There will be two battle royals. The first four out in each match end up in a tag match. The next three out face the three left remaining (so you’re almost guaranteed odd teams.) The two winning trios face in a final.

CMLL (SUN) 04/13 Arena Coliseo [SuperLuchas #258]
1) Frisbee & Tigre Kid vs Disturbio & Zayco
2) Astro Boy, Leono, Tigre Blanco vs Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro
3) Fabián el Gitano, Máscara Púrpura, Mictlán vs Diamante Negro, Skandalo, Virus
4) Felino, La Máscara, Sagrado vs Lizmark Jr., Misterioso II, Olímpico
5) Grey Shadow, Místico, Negro Casas vs Sangre Azteca, Toscano, Último Guerrero

Looks like Blanco is back. If he’s returning to lose his mask, we’ll know it quickly.

IWRG (SUN) 04/13 Arena Naucalpan [SuperLuchas #258]
1) Galactic & Sener vs Black Thunder & Judas el Traidor
2) Aeroman, Centauro, Turbo vs ?, Black Terry, Cerebro Negro
3) El Dandy, El Hijo del Solitario, Multifacético vs Cien Caras Jr., Máscara Año 2000, Veneno

Maybe the Cerebros are back together here?

setting this post aside for Bihari’s markout

as previously seen in this week’s lucha times notes

It’s really a guess as to what else might [air]. Every other match from all three weekly shows has aired already, excluding the openers.

Clauses will get you ever time.

CMLL on FSE #86
03/16 Coliseo: Artillero & Súper Comando b Kid Tiger & Molotov (including promo by both teams)
03/16 Coliseo: Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Volador Jr. DQ Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
Outside the Ring: Que Monito

I’ll get it up sometime this week.

04/05.2: more on Park/UG, lineups, CAN52

SuperLuchas’ recap of last night’s Arena Mexico show shares the refrain of Ovaciones’ this morning: LA Park vs Ultimo Guerrero was not good and a lot of people were walking out during it. If you check otu the comments, Ernesto says all four people they had there felt the same way, so this was a pretty widespread feeling.

CMLL.com has a note about this match, with the hardest sell being “this is not the end of this.” As I write this, this newsbite is directly above the one about how LA Park will get a mask match if he wins. That’s not addressed at all in today’s update. I think that’s the problem here – no one cares about this feud at all (they just randomly started a death feud last week, because even the stuff with the PPV was about Mistico), no believes they’re going to have a mask match (to the point where there’s not a single person disappointed the match isn’t going to happen, just using the easy chance to mock CMLL for not living up to these promises yet again) and no one cares about a fake hate feud.

I think it was Steve Sims who was wondering if Dr. Wagner Jr. would be ultimately hurt because CMLL was never paying off his big teased mask matches. It turns it out Wagner’s okay, because he’s Wagner, but everyone who’s not Dr. Wagner is feeling the pain. The people do not believe in rivalries between top masked guys any more because they’re smart enough to remember the dozens of recent ones which never ever go to a conclusion (Averno and Mistico teased a mask match again) and all the brawling and mask ripping isn’t going to make them believe right now. Yea, it does say something negative about UG and Park that they could not get their match over with the crowd (and I’m surprised UG hasn’t been listed as Most Overrated on those lists on DVDVR), but I think it’s just one example of a company wide problem.

At any rate, if they’re following up on Park/UG, they ain’t doing this this week. They’re nowhere to be seen.

CMLL (TUE) 04/08 Arena Mexico
1) Puma King & Semental vs Molotov & Trueno
2) Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Fire, Pequeño Black Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Tony Rivera vs Mentallo, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
4) Axel, Máximo, Sagrado vs Olímpico, Sangre Azteca, Virus
5) Alex Koslov, Negro Casas, Shocker vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Terrible

This is Axel’s last match before heading to South America. Seems like they’ve figured out Puma King’s name this time around.

CMLL (FRI) 04/11 Arena Mexico
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Metálico vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Flash, Stuka Jr., Súper Nova vs Diamante Negro, Euforia, Nosferatu
3) Fantasma Jr., La Máscara, Valiente vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Blue Panther, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas vs Terrible, Texano Jr., Villano V
5) Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Main event is a revenge match for this week’s rudo win. I presume they’re setting up the tag title rematch here. Panther/V5 resumes. Hijo de Fantasma is starting up here, about the same level as Axxel. I think this is the same one who was in AAA for the Mexican Middleweight Tournament, but I know there’s a Fantasma Jr. and I have no way of keeping them straight.

CMLL CAN52 GdR #124 had
03/28 Mexico: Dark Angel, Goddess, Luna Mágica b Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Rosa Negra
03/30 Coliseo: Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., LA Park DQ Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V
outside the ring: Mr. Aguila

04/05: Mexico

CMLL (FRI) 04/04 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, ESTO, Alvin @ El Martiente]
1) Molotov, Sombra de Plata, Starman b Apocalipsis, Ramstein, Zayco
2) Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr., Súper Nova b Loco Max, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
3) Axxel, La Máscara, Sagrado b Ephesto, Misterioso II, Virus
4) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto b Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico
5) LA Park b Último Guerrero

Ovaciones shreds the main event, saying it was the worst fight of the night and of many nights. No one else is so harsh on it. According to what was said last week, this is supposed to mean we get a UG/Park mask match but that seems hard to believe. No one mentions that in their notes, which probably means they didn’t build that stip up in any notable way.

Averno vs Mistico was the the focus of the semimain. Averno yanked Mistico’s mask and pinned him for the win.

Axel looks okay, but Ovaciones notes he used many of Santo and El Hijo del Santo’s moves rather than create his own identity. The people were very accepting of Axxel, and he was giving a bouquet of roses before the match.

SuperLuchas says AAA will be part of the Lucha Libre Expo. They passed on it last year, and this means every major group (and some minor ones) will be involved.

MedioTiempo has an interview with Charly Manson. It does not sound like he now plans on retiring any time soon.

Arturo Rivera’s weekend column.

04/04.2: Neza, links, GALLI

It needed to be split up (and also I forget like a half dozen things.)

Tomorrow is the next AAA taping, in Torreon. Whatever’s going to happen with Cibernetico and Zorro in the main event, it won’t involve Konnan. He’s working an indy show in South Florida.

CMLL (SUN) 03/30 Arena Neza [the gladiatores]
1) Cerval & Guardidan de la Noche b Melendo & Mr. Radar
2) Black Lancer & Puma King b Black Lancer & Kid Tiger
3) Black Bird, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II b Ciclon, Mohicano II, Poder Boricua
4) Dark Angel & Goddess b Hiroka & Mima Shimoda
5) Atlantis, Misterioso II, Olímpico b Sagrado, Stuka Jr., Volador Jr.

The main event was supposed to be a Mexican Trios Title match, but Sombra apparently missed the show and was replaced by Stuka. I’m always hesitant to include recent advertised title matches in to the title histories, because things like this do happen and we wouldn’t know unless someone writes up the results. I’m guessing they want to do this title match this week (no advertised main event right now), and so they just decided to keep the rudos strong. In the tercera, Mohicano II fouled a Tapatio to keep the never ending Neza feud going. Where’s Ramstein been lately? Not here.

The recap mentions Black Bird took Poder Boricua’s hair the previous week.

Ohtani’s Jacket reviews Oscar Sevilla vs Gran Apache from 2000 and El Brazo vs Rambo from ’96. Vic recapped the Cadenas Tres show from two weeks ago.

I’m headed into the city well before the Cubs game tomorrow. I’ll try to get Arena Mexico stuff up (or at least an open thread), but no TV info until later in the day.

Sunday’s the GALLI show in Addison:

1) Rey Murcielago vs El Simbolo
2) Centella de Oro, Nemesis vs Resistencia, Funebre
3) Coco Liso, Negrotistico vs Steve Boz, Isaias Velazques
4) Samuary, Blade, Tiger vs Amenza del Siglo, Guerrillero, Pentagon del Infierno
5) Charly Manson Jr. vs Gringo Loco [GALLI]
6) Golden Star vs Yakuza [mask]

and I’d like to predict both rudos (that’d be Gringo Loco and Yakuza) winning in the double main event. I’d also like to predict a 6pm start time means I can stroll in at 6:20 and not miss anything, because that’s worked well for me lately.
