04/14: misc results, lineups

SuperLuchas #259 has Dr. Wagner talking about WWE. Nothing you haven’t heard before, but I demand you to buy the magazine just for the brillant takedown of AAA and Arturo Rivera. Rivera complained in Box y Lucha that SuperLuchas wasn’t covering enough AAA, the response is sort of “you guys banned us, you dorks.” Also, “Mario Rivero” on Box y Lucha, today bringing up a WON rumor Goldberg and/or Lashey might be working TripleMania (no and maybe but who’d care), is actually AAA Press Officer Carlos Oliver. Sockos are not what I was thinking when I hoped lucha libre groups would make better use of the internet.

The rest of the magazine is good too, and I generally like Arturo but he probably should know the whole deal next time. There’s also a continuning anti-SuperLuchas “they cover too much of the US stuff!” complaints wrapped around this, which I still find to be dumb. They’re a magazine, a business attempting to make money, not a public service. Their obligations are to no one but themselves and they have full right to cover whatever they want, becuase they’re paying the bills at the end of the day.

Ovaciones posted Last Monday’s news article. I was confused for quite a while. I guess CMLL doing the exact same main event finish back to back weeks doesn’t stick me as weird.

CMLL PROLLM (SUN) 04/06 Coliseo Coacalco [SuperLuchas #259]
1) Alma Negra & Betos Boy b Aleph & Guman
2) Daga, Eterno, Lobo Metalico b Black Terror, Forastero, Stigma
3) Alexander, Valentine, Vincent b Ave Nocturna, Huizar, Storm
4) Ángel Azteca Jr., Gallito de Oro, Mano Negra Jr. b America, Macabro Jr., Negro Navarro
5) Fabián el Gitano DCO Magnifico

I guess they’re building to a a apuesta match here? Reviewer demanded the commission come down hard on Vincent for the insults he directed towards an elderly female fan.

AULL (WED) 04/09 Arena Lopez Mateos [SuperLuchas #259]
1) Mascarita Oriental & Nino de Fuego b Black Star & Zayruz
2) Psicopata, Super Nino, Super Panda b Cerebro Maligno, Epitafio, Herejia
3) Rey Krimen, Rocky Santana, Sepulturero b Chucho el Roro, Heavy Boy, Robin Maravilla
4) Sadico b Terry 2000 [AULL LIGHT]
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Groon XXX, Solar I DQ Canek, Negro Navarro, Universo 2000

Canek ripped off Wagner’s match to the end the match. I’m thinking Canek wants his title back.

2) Bello Juan, Monster Truck I, Pedro el Hermoso, Relampago b Ciclope, Doberman, Epidemia, Mario Mora

AAA (SUN) 04/13 Gimnasio Josue Neri Santos [tamba_jr @ box y lucha]
3) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b Cibernetico, El Elegido, Octagón [AAA AMERICAS TRIOS]

This was announced as victory #100 as well. Probably not the only two. There was a version of the AAA Americas Trios belt on display at last year’s lucha libre expos, so I would guess those are the belts being used. “Used” may be too strong – I think you have to wait to see if they’re mentioned again or shown up on TV before figuring out if this means anything or if it’s just some wacky thing they did for a Juarez show.

I still can’t figure how that match was solicited as a mask vs title match when neither team were champions.

Mr. Reyes teases next week’s Gladiatores with photos from Thursday’s Neza show. Also, peppers!

indy (SUN) 04/13 Arena Mexico San Luis Potosi [El Sol de SLP]
1) Tiger Boy & Tomahawk vs Dr. Satan & Gato Salvaje
2) Genesis vs Belcebu [CRM HEAVY]
3) Brujo Cosmico, Salmon, Sombra del Misterio vs Black Fantasy, Fuerza Maligna, Sabu Jr. [CENTRO TRIOS]

Fuerza Maligna’s crew are the champs and were defending the belts for the third time.

AAA (MON) 04/14 Hospital Infantil de Mexico Federico Gomez
1) Argenis & Gato Eveready vs Espantapajaros & Toxico AAA
2) Mascarita Divina & Mini Charly Manson vs Mascarita de la Muerte & Mini Chessman
3) El Alebrije & Super Fly vs Decnnis & Kenzo Suzuki

This show took place at 11 this morning, so you’ll probably need to get your time machine to attend. It’s an AAA Kid’s Day function. Good thing they didn’t book the evil clowns for a children’s hospital.

AAA (MON) 04/14 Arena Cuatro Caminos Nuevo Laredo [RFC]
1) Mini Hombra Sin Miedo & Mini Laredo Kid vs Mini Black Mamba & Mini Rio Bravo
2) Rey Infernal, Rio Bravo, Tito Santana II vs Principe Diamante, Street Boy, Tiger Cota

Superluchas does not actually list the trios – they just say 24 wrestlers, 8 trios – but I took this as a challenge. Also, boxing goat = $$$.

04/10, 04/13 IWRG Results, lineups for this week

alert: Diamante Negro chats with Box Y Lucha at 2pm, or after most of you will read this.

IWRG (THU) 04/10 Arena Naucalpan [SuperLuchas #259]
1) Avisman & Comando Negro b Demente & Rey Estruendo
2) Aeroman & Coco Verde b Capitán Muerte & Dr. Cerebro
3) Black Terry, El Hijo del Solitario, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Masada, Pantera, Veneno
4) Cerebro Negro & Cocolores b Chico Che & Oficial Fierro
5) Arlequin, Hijo del Cien Caras, Multifacético b El Dandy, Negro Navarro, Zatura
6) Black Terry, El Hijo del Solitario, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. b Arlequin, Hijo del Cien Caras, Multifacético

This show had a seeding battle royal, causing all the weird teams. Black Terry’s team won their first match when Solitario (who’d already been eliminated) fouled Pantera, and won the second when Hijo del Cien Caras wasn’t into fighting his cousin. Terry pinned Multifacetico clean and they made challenges after the match to set up Thursday’s main event.

IWRG (SUN) 04/13 Arena Naucalpan [Alvin @ El Martinete]
1) Comando Negro & Halcon 2000 b Demente & Venom
2) Galactic & Sener b Black Thunder & Judas el Traidor
3) Aeroman, Freelance, Turbo b Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro
4) Cien Caras Jr., Máscara Año 2000, Veneno DQ El Dandy, El Hijo del Solitario, Multifacético
5) Solar I b Negro Navarro [AMERICAS]

Multifacetico and Black Terry fought in the semimian (where Dandy lost it for his team by yanking Cien’s mask) and in the main event (as seconds, I think.) Solar I retained his title in the usual well received match.

IWRG AZTECA (WED) 04/16 Coliseo Tulancingo
1) Delta & Pastillero Black vs Monkey & Super Espia
2) Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II vs Judas el Traidor & Nemesis IWRG
3) Aeroman, Chico Che, Multifacético vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) Hijo del Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. vs el Hijo Del Anibal & El Hijo del Solitario [IWRG IC TAG]
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Pantera, Solar I vs LA Park, Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000

This is Anibal and Solitario’s second shot at the belts.

IWRG (THU) 04/17 Arena Naucalpan
1) Comando Negro & Halcón Salvaje vs Trauma I & Trauma II
2) Aeroman, Freelance, Zatura vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
3) Solar I, Super Astro, Ultraman vs Negro Navarro, Septiembre Negro II, Veneno
4) Máscara Año 2000, Nicho el Millionario, Universo 2000 vs Black Dragon, El Fantasma, Pantera
5) Multifacético vs Black Terry [hair]

Multifacetico’s mask is also on the line in the main event, but c’mon. I think I have figured out this lucha libre thing. Fantasma de la Opera will corner Multifacetico and cost Black Terry the match, because that’s what they just did for the title match between the two.

IWRG (SUN) 04/20 Arena Nauclapan
(opener TBA)
2) Chico Che & Kazuki vs Nemesis IWRG & Quarterback
3) Aeroman, Freelance, Zatura vs Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, El Hijo del Diablo
4) Solar I, Super Astro, Ultraman Sr. vs Negro Navarro, Septiembre Negro II, Veneno
5) Cien Caras Jr., LA Park, Nicho el Millionario vs El Dandy, el Hijo Del Anibal, Multifacético

04/13: Hijo del Diablo, Ultimo Dragon, Coliseo, Nicho, Dandy

Black Abyss/ESTO

Let me make sure I’m getting this right: in this AAA angle, a member of the group has abandoned the group and the group has decided to give a new person the identity, and this is an evil, unethical substitution. By putting a new wrestler under the mask, the story goes, they’re deceiving the people. It’s a safe guess that this will end up with the original proving he’s superior to the new version. And this is happening IN TRIPLE A.

This will never stop being totally fascinating to me.

Like La Parka Jr. doesn’t get hassled enough. He’s got a hurt shoulder, be nicer to him.

Accion’s CMLL highlights were of the main event. Mephisto with a shaved head and a mask showing off the empty skull looks very strange – like something Loco Max would do. Perro taking la Mistica and rolling free enough to give Mistico a double powerbomb is a bit surprising. Hector’s hair is growing back slow. Main event looked very action packed from the highlights they showed, and the clean pin at the end was emphasized.

AAA’s highlights were the Zorro/Cibernetico match for Torreon, featuring a rest hold and a Charly Manson dive to start up. Mesias gets involved, gets accidentally caned by Zorro, and runs into hit Cibernetico with a chair, no accident there. Funny things:
– the chair never actually hits Cibernetico, maybe because they’re protecting his back, but he does a decent job of selling for Cibernetico and it works
– Zorro is confused for a second, then thinks this may be a week where running in and attacking someone is not a DQ, causing him to dive onto Cibernetico for a pin
– Mesias realizes the same thing a second later, and has to pull Zorro off the pin to make sure his evil plan works
– Hijo de Tirantes, the man who takes a minute to decide not to DQ someone, instantly calls for the DQ

AAA main events! I’m so glad they actually make money with this stuff, because at least it subsidizes the parts of the show I like for the right reasons. (How many weeks am I behind on AAA now?)

What aired of CMLL this week? Top 3?

Ovaciones interviews Hijo del Diablo, who’s signed a one year contract with “Luchas Azteca” – I wonder if that means he’s got the deal with IWRG or the TV company? Hijo del Diabolo explains we haven’t seen him lately because an (unnamed) individual was refusing to work for promotions if Hijo del Diablo worked for them. He’s already part of Veneno’s latest IWRG faction.

Ovaciones also notes Ultimo Dragon will be unable to wrestle on a tour of Spain due to an ankle injury suffered Tuesday in Guadlajara. He’ll go and sign autographs anyway.

CMLL (SUN) 04/20 Arena Coliseo
1) Molotov & Sombra de Plata vs Carrona & Cholo
2) Metálico, Neutrón, Tony Rivera vs Apocalipsis, Euforia, Nosferatu
3) Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Mictlán vs Dr. X, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
4) Felino, Grey Shadow, Máximo vs Damián 666, Misterioso II, Texano Jr.
5) Alex Koslov, Místico, Negro Casas vs Sangre Azteca, Toscano, Último Guerrero

Bucanero turned back to the rudo side just after Toscano got suspended, which made it possible for the GdI trio to get back together, except the suspension thing and all. Toscano’s now been back for a few weeks and they haven’t done it – are they waiting for a inevitable decision match for the trios titles?

Has been Apocalipis been hurt or just not booked for other reasons? He had disappeared for a couple months before working last Friday. I know I should not care because it’s Apocalispis and he’s not good at the lucha libre, but I always wonder if there’s an interesting story I’m missing.

I totally missed it, but Box Y Lucha had a live telecast with Fuerza Guerrera about leaving AAA. That’s all I know. I would set the under/over line at “8 months” before he makes the usual surprise return to attack Octagon and tease the mask match again.

Nicho and Dandy work the IWRG shows this week. More tomorrow when I get more time to put this stuff together.

04/12.5: lineups, CAN52

Let me tell you: garlic bagels = bad idea. I think I may be a vampire.

CMLL (TUE) 04/15 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Pólvora & Zayco
2) Luna Mágica, Princesa Blanca, Sahori vs Amapola, La Nazi, La Seductora
3) Metálico, Starman, Tigre Blanco vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skandalo
4) Heavy Metal, Hijo del Fantasma, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Texano Jr.
5) La Máscara, Místico, Negro Casas vs Black Warrior, Misterioso II, Rey Bucanero

Los Tigres, reunited.

CMLL (FRI) 04/18 Arena Mexico
1) Starman & Trueno vs Calígula & Méssala
2) Fabián el Gitano, Máximo, Stuka Jr. vs Diamante Negro, Euforia, Nosferatu
3) Alex Koslov, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas vs Atlantis, Black Warrior, Toscano
4) Blue Panther, Marco Corelone, Shocker vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Terrible, Villano V
5) Héctor Garza & Místico vs Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]

Title match is as suspected. The titles obviously make more sense with Averno & Mephisto, but Hector losing them just after losing his hair would seem to finish him here for the time being.

CMLL GdR on CAN52 #125 has
04/04 Mexico: Máscara Púrpura, Stuka Jr., Súper Nova b Loco Max, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura
04/07 Coliseo: Dos Caras Jr., Místico, Shocker DQ Atlantis, Toscano, Último Guerrero

04/12: Mexico, Toryumon

CMLL (FRI) 04/11 Arena Mexico [superluchas, ovaciones, luchando libre, ESTO]
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Metálico b Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Diamante Negro, Euforia, Nosferatu b Flash, Stuka Jr., Súper Nova
3) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Valiente b Ephesto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Blue Panther, Heavy Metal, Negro Casas DQ Terrible, Texano Jr., Villano V
5) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto b Héctor Garza, Marco Corelone, Místico

Top two matches were both two fall sweeps. Mistico’s mask was bloodied and ripped up during the first fall, and he took the pinfall after a triple powerbomb. Mistico went to the back to get a new mask, but that wasn’t enough to turn the match around this time. Averno & Mephisto got clean pins on Mistico & Garza, including Averno giving Mistico a second rope Devil’s Wings. Tag title challenges were made after the match.

Leon Negro, Estrella Blanca, Tony Lopez, Saeta Azteca, and Manuel Robles appeared before the main event for a short tribute.

Casas Brothers beat the Perros in the first fall of the semimain. V5 got Blue Panther to submit in the second fall, but wouldn’t let go of his hold and shoved down the ref for the excessive DQ.

Hijo de Fantasma looked a little nervous, but the reviews are generally positive. Ovaciones gives him credit for having his own style.

Stuka Jr. was strechered out after being beat by the Infernales.

Toryumon (SUN) 05/11 Arena Mexico
1) Saisuke Hanaoka & Satoshi Kajiwara vs Dr. Karonte Jr. & Negro Navarro
2) Dark Angel & Fuka vs Hiroka & Mima Shimoda
3) Hiromi Horiguchi, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura vs Brazo de Oro, La Máscara, Máximo
4) Katsuhiko Nakajima & Ryuji Yamaguchi vs Dr. X & Nitro
5) Marco Corelone vs Alex Koslov, Texano Jr., Amigo Suzuki, Hijo del Fantasma, Súper Nova, Astro Boy
6) Toshiya Matsuzaki vs Pequeño Damian 666 [hair]
7) Animal & Kensuke Sasaki vs Damián 666 & Terrible
8) Místico, Tatsumi Fujinami, Último Dragón vs Atlantis, Rene Dupree, Último Guerrero

Rene Dupree? Animal? Fujinama, Dragon, Sasaki, Alex, Marco make 7, so either Ohara or Okumura make the Gran Prix team or maybe Animal or Fujinama is only wrestling once that weekend.

Matsuzaki and Mini Damian had a draw in a title match the last time out to set up this hair match. There’s a yet to be announced match with people from the LA Dojo.

Arturo Rivera kinda sort explains what happened in Toluca.

Ovaciones says the music group Elásticos has created a theme for Atlantis as part of his 25th Anniversary celebration. I presume it’s the Atlantida song on their mySpace page.

Ovaciones also briefly profiles Scanner, a student of Shu el Guerrero. He’s a welterweight at 170cm, and is making his debut at Arena Libertad.

Back with lineups soon.

AAA TV (THU) 04/10 Gimnasio Agustin Milian [MT]

3) Extreme Tiger & Halloween b Joe Lider & Juventud Guerrera
4) Histeria, Mr. Niebla, Psicosis II b Abismo Negro, Charly Manson, Chessman
5) Escoria, Mesias, Ozz DQ Electro Shock, Kenzo Suzuki, Zorro

Projected air date (#832)
Mexico: 04/20
US: 05/10

Mesias was denied his revenge on the Legion by Cibernetico running in. Ciber attacked Mesias before attacking Zorro, so the DQ goes that way. Three was feuding continues.

The story of the night was the semimain, where Abismo Negro refused to work with Charly Manson or Super Porky (replaced Chessman.) Vipers pinned Porky 3 on 1 thanks to Abismo.

Immediately after the match, a camera backstage found Abismo Negro tied up in the locker room. Absimo freed himself, ran to the ring, and got into a fight with the Abismo who had wrestled (who is actually the debuting Black Abyss – a clone, as suspected.) Black Abyss fouled Abismo Negro to get the better of him this time. Abismo Negro accused Mr. Niebla of this evil plan, but Mr. Niebla claimed to know nothing. Insert joke here.

Tijuana/MPs battle involved ladders and chairs. Crazy Boy returned to help out his partners, who lost anyway.
