Pierroth retirement match announced

CMLL.com confirms what Pierroth has been saying for the last while – CMLL’s throwing him a retirement show on August 15th. The main event will be Pierroth teaming with the man who unmasked him, LA Park to face contemporaries Atlantis & Satanico.

CMLL says the match will be a double hair/mask vs hair/mask match. I must be misunderstanding that, because that would mean Atlantis or LA Park would lose their mask and that’s ain’t happening. So I dunno about this except the match will surely be taking place four months from now.

04/16: Coliseo, Mexico, Guadalajara, Fuerza

CMLL (SUN) 04/13 Arena Coliseo [cmll]
1) Disturbio & Zayco b Frisbee & Tigre Kid
2) Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro b Astro Boy, Leono, Tigre Blanco
3) Fabián el Gitano, Máscara Púrpura, Mictlán b Diamante Negro, Skandalo, Virus
4) Felino, La Máscara, Sagrado DQ Misterioso II, Ohara, Olimpico
5) Sangre Azteca, Toscano, Último Guerrero DQ Grey Shadow, Místico, Negro Casas

This week, UG went for the foul, got it blocked, and just tossed his mask to Mistico. Of course Mistico caught it and got caught. Mistico’s getting pretty tired of this bit (not the only one) and we appear to be headed to a Mistico/UG singles match here. Before that, they’re talking about turning this Sunday’s iteration of this match (Alex in for Shadow) into a super libre match to counteract the DQs.

Olimpico yanked Sagrado’s mask to end the semimain. Ohara replaced Lizmark Jr. It’s been a while since he missed something. All sorts of injuries and near injuries in the tercera – Fabian hit badly on a dive and Diamante Negro and Virus had issues. Looks like Astro Boy might have gotten hurt in the segunda, judging from the pictures.

The Legends of ’75 were honored before the semimain.

CMLL (TUE) 04/15 Arena Mexico
1) Pólvora & Zayco b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Amapola, La Nazi, La Seductora b Luna Mágica, Princesa Blanca, Sahori
3) Metálico, Starman, Tigre Blanco b Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skandalo
4) Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Texano Jr. DQ Heavy Metal, Hijo del Fantasma, Volador Jr.
5) La Máscara, Místico, Negro Casas b Black Warrior, Misterioso II, Rey Bucanero

Mr. Aguila fouled Heavy Metal. Tercera seems a bit of an upset, credited to Metalico and Tigre Blanco dives at the end.

CMLL (TUE) 04/15 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [cmll]
1) Thunder Boy b Milenio
2) Idolo b Danger (Gudalajara)
3) Lider DQ Asesino Negro
4) Metal Blanco & Metalik b Loco Max & Vaquero
5) Malefico & Toxico b Gallo & Leon Blanco
6) Lizmark Jr. & Último Guerrero DQ Héctor Garza & Marco Corelone

UG went to foul Marco and Marco blocked but somehow pulls UG’s mask off in the process. Sucks for Marco. Asesino Negro lost by foul in the third. It looks like Vaquero worked an extra week here just to work an extra week here (or maybe just to make sure his bald head was seen.) Another opening match guy takes his spot on Sunday

CMLL (SUN) 04/20 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Quazar vs Azazel
2) Nube Roja vs Imposter
3) Idolo vs Exterminador
4) Metal Blanco & Metatron vs Infierno & Jeque
5) Fabián el Gitano, Magnum, Stuka Jr. vs Mr. Trueno, Nitro, Rey Trueno
6) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Shocker vs Atlantis, Olímpico, Universo 2000

CMLL (THU) 04/17 Arena Neza [heri999]
1) Calígula & Méssala vs Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Dark Angel, Luna Mágica, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
3) La Máscara, Negro Casas, Stuka Jr. vs Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V

Arturo Rivera’s weekday column talks about losing Fuerza Guerrera along with other veterans and the affect on the company. He says Fuerza’s headed into IWRG. Luchas 2000 apparently has an article saying the same.

In today’s Ovaciones, Hector Garza campaigns for a neutral referee for Friday’s title match as well special security to prevent interference, after what happened in the hair match.

(Estadio W) Abismo Negro is offended Mesias claimed Mexico is not that great. I can not believe this is an actual story.

AAA posted photos from their children’s hospital show. It’s a good thing they were at a hospital, becuase Kenzo looks to have broken Cuije with a kneedrop. Do you think Argenis corrected any sick child who thought he was Mistico? I’m thinking no.

04/15: Guadalajara, Nuevo Laredo

CMLL (SUN) 04/13 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Palacio Negro b Quazar
2) Thunder Boy b Milenio
3) Nube Roja & Oro II b Exterminador & Güero Loco
4) Infierno, Loco Max, Vaquero b Máximo, Metal Blanco, Valiente
5) Metalik b Depreador (Guadalajara) [OCCIDENTE WELTER]
6) Alex Koslov, Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone b Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr.

Metalik is the new champ. Vaquero got a pinfall on Metal Blanco.

(el Makabre) Guadalajara area wrestler Comando Loco passed away on April 12 after a motorcycle accident.

AAA (MON) 04/14 Arena Cuatro Caminos de Nuevo Laredo [RFC]
1) Mini Hombra Sin Miedo & Mini Laredo Kid b Mini Black Mamba & Mini Rio Bravo
2) Rey Infernal, Rio Bravo, Tito Santana II b Angel, Principe Diamante, Tiger Cota
3) Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown b El Brazo, Hombre Sin Miedo, Pimpinela Escarlata
4) Babe Rap, Charly Manson, La Parka Jr. b Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz
5) Jaque Mate L Laredo Kid and Scorpio Jr. and Sangre Chicana [cage, hair]

Yep, Jaque Mate. Laredo Kid gets the win. I wonder if that was win #100 for the Clowns.

(Reforma via Jazzo) Sagrado’s okay with his fellow tecnicos challenging his team for the trios belts – they’re good people and deserver the shot. The article states this will be the 7th defense. We’ve got, uh, 2 (plus this one, so that’s three, plus the Arena Isabel match probably happned, but that still leaves 3.)

CMLL Tercera Cuerda (SAT) 04/19 Poliforum Chiapas de Tuxtla Gutierrez [KrisZ]
1) Murcy Jr. & Murcy Jr. II vs Montecristo & Venum
2) Black Tauro, Grandaman, Guerrero Zulu vs Dr. Salvaje, Fuego Negro, Tigre Jr.
3) Astro Boy vs Loco Max, Marvin Xtreme, Máscara Púrpura, Misterio Maya, El Parachico, Psicopata, Sangre Azteca, Shendor, Terrorista, Valiente, Virus
4) Averno vs Sagrado [NWA MIDDLE]

The Lake County News-Sun writes about the ELL-MEX show in Waukegan.

Box Y Lucaha 2866 has Dr. Wagner saying CMLL only wants puppets. (Well, yes.)

Nikki Roxx, now Roxxi Laveaux in TNA, is on the 05/02 LLF show.

The Tercera Cuerda podcast interviewed Blue Demon Jr.

Victor recaps the Cadena Tres show. Was Satanico’s interview at the end meant to be in character?

site slowdown

I’m going to be busier than usual until Tuesday, April 22nd, so posts and such will be slower going for the next week. (This is somewhat related to the lack of recaps.) For most of that time, I’ll still be posting, but it may not be as detailed or at the usual times.

There may not be any news posts on Friday or Saturday, but I’ll set up open threads for discussion if anyone wants to use them. Unless AAA’s Celaya taping results turn up quickly on Thursday, I probably won’t get to them until things are back up and running.

I’ll be getting back to people on e-mail and monitoring things on the wiki as I have time.

Thanks for your patience.

mid April Chicago lucha notes

SuperLuchas posted some stuff I wanted to point out

2) Discovery & Torando b Principe Azteca I & Principe Azteca II
3) Diabolico & Horoscopo b Kamakazee & Rey Fuego
4) Principe Franky & Rayo Lazer b Bazooka & Martin Escobedo

I thought the semimain was supposed to be a mask/hair match. Apparently not. There’s also now video up of Chela Salazar show.

Arenas de Chicago (SAT) 04/12 Ninth Grade Center, Waukagen, IL [CPW]
1) Super Villano b Rey Makawi
2) Bazooka & Horoscopo b Electron & Resistencia
3) Duce Trey b Chris Micahels

GALLI’s running on an ice rink this Sunday

GALLI (SUN) 04/20 Edge II Ice Arena, Bensenville, IL
1) Centella de Oro & Nemesis GALLI vs Bandolero & Venganza
2) Meteoro 1 & Meteoro 2 vs Chilango & Funebre
3) Silueta Dorado & Slayer vs Blade & Resistencia
4) Acid Jazz & Negrotistico vs Isias Velazques & Steve Boz
5) Charly Manson Jr. & Tigre vs Guerrilero & Pentagon del Infierno
6) Huracan Ramirez, Huracan Ramirez Jr., Samuary vs Amenza del Siglo, Demencia, Yakuza

As much as I would like to see lucha libre on ice (or perhaps a dried rink where ice used to be), I don’t think I’m going to make it out to this one. I hope Acid Jazz works more shows, because he’s quite good.

They’ve canceled their Rockford show, but they’re running this show, then shows the following Friday (Addison) and Sunday (Hoffman Estates) and co-promoting a show on Saturday…

GALLI MEXREPCOMM (SAT) 04/26 Cicero Stadium [CPW
1) Nemesis GALLI vs Meteoro
2) Blade & Slayer vs Chialngo & Venganca
3) Quinto Sol & Tigre vs Funebre & Resistencai
4) Huracan Ramirez, Huracan Ramirez, Samuary vs Demencia, Pentagon del Infierno, Yakuza
5) Anibal Jr., Charly Manson Jr., Pantera vs Gringo Loco, Hijo del Cien Caras, Violencia

That’s a lot of lucha in a short time. This seems unsustainable. I hope I’m just missing a piece about how it’s working and everyone’s actually making lots of money.
