04/03: Mexico, GDL

I’m otherwise occupied today, so I’ve got Tuesday’s results for you now, and I’ll be posting the FSE/CAN52 recaps one per hour till I’m all caught up there. If there’s more news that breaks, I’ll get to it when I can but go ahead and talk about it in the comments.

CMLL (TUE) 04/01 Arena Mexico
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Súper Camaleón & Súper Tri
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Hooligan b Astro Boy, Leono, Tigre Blanco
3) Fabian el Gitano, Mictlán, Tony Rivera DQ Euforia, Nosferatu, Vangelis
4) Heavy Metal, La Máscara, La Sombra b Olímpico, Sangre Azteca, Universo 2000
5) Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Terrible b Héctor Garza, Shocker, Volador Jr.

Terrible fouled Garza and pinned him, which is a bit of a surprise.

In the tercera, Fabian replaced Flash. Vangelis led his team to a straight falls loss, getting DQed for excessive rudoness in the second fall. Santo debuted the same way, and that ends any comparison of Vangelis and Santo.

Tigre Blanco returned to replace Trueno, in his first known back since taking time off to deal with head issues. Becaus he’s a replacment (and they may have already know Fabian was subbing for Flash), I wonder if it was a last minute thing and perhaps not indicative of a planned return. Hopefully some more info will turn up about his status.

CMLL (TUE) 04/01 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Quazar b Thunder Boy
2) Ebola vs Virgo
3) Lider DQ Asesino Negro
4) Vaquero b Metatron
5) Pierrothito b Ultimo Dragoncito
6) Axxel, Gallo, Máximo DQ Malefico, Misterioso II, Toxico
7) Alex Koslov & Marco Corelone b Black Warrior & Texano Jr.

Black Warrior replaced Rey in the main event. Tecs won clean. Misterioso fouled Gallo in the semimain. Dragoncito replaced Tzuki and hopefully didn’t KO himself on an Asai moonsault, like the last time I can recall him facing Pierrothito in a singles match. Vaquero beat Metatron clean. Lider knocked down the ref by accident and faked a low blow on purpose. It all worked for him.

CMLL (SUN) 04/06 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Palacio Negro vs Novato
2) Valentin Mayo vs Thunder Boy
3) Metatron & Virgo vs Fraile de la Muerte & Guero Loco
4) Flash, Máscara Púrpura, Metalik vs Depredador (Guadalajara), Mr. Trueno, Rey Trueno
5) Metal Blanco vs Vaquero [mask, hair]
6) La Sombra, Rayman, Sagrado vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

There’s the apuesta match they’ve been setting up. Sagrado and Rayman are still the local tag team champs, I wonder if the main event is setting up something.

CMLL (TUE) 04/08 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Milenio vs Relampago
2) Idolo vs Guero Loco
3) Nube Roja vs Asesino Negro
4) Thunder Boy vs Vaquero
5) El Gallo vs Mr. Trueno
6) Casanova & Leon Blanco vs Infierno & Super Maquina
7) Grey Shadow, Místico, Último Dragón vs Atlantis, Toscano, Último Guerrero

Maybe Vaquero being booked for this show is a positive sign! Probably not.

FSE-US: Wagner/Ultimo trios is airing because that’s in the description. It’s really a guess as to what else might. Every other match from all three weekly shows has aired already, excluding the openers. I’m figuring a repeat of the minis match, since it wasn’t shown on a MVS show yet, but I wouldn’t wager money on it.

The 9pm EST replay directly follows a futbol game. If you’re just planning on watching later, you’re better of getting the midnight replay and having no editing issues.

AAA-US: Galavision has dropped the “Lucha de Vuelta” name, a couple years after it stopped meaning anything. Anyway, main event is triangle tag between Hell Brothers, Tijuana and Legion. This week’s Rey de Reyes is a lights out match, and there’s more Apache soap.

CAN52: Villanos vs Panther and company in the main event, and probably a women’s trios from Arena Mexico

—-

CMLL-MEX: If they are airing the PPV, it’s in the normal slot. I don’t see another listing for lucha libre in the TV Guide listings, just the usual 1:45 slot. Top 3 were all the matches that meant anything (Panther/V5, relevos incredible, Perro/Garza.)

AAA-MEX: Part 2 of TripleMania, which means the clowns, the ladder match, and the atomico. And probably some reruns.

FSE-MEX: Infenales vs Fabian/Leono/Tony – how am I ever going to pick a side in that one?

Cadena3: Perros vs Garza/Shocker/Volador in the main. Vangelis!

04/02: Santo, Coliseo anniversary, Belize, IWRG, Leon

Ovaciones confirms TripleMania will take place on June 13 (Friday) in Palacio de los Deportes. This is what Marco Rivera back on the 19th.

Arena Coliseo (DF) turns 65 years old today. I’m surprised they didn’t run a big show for the occasion. Maybe we’ll get one later this month. Ovaciones writes about the biggest match (Black Shadow vs El Santo on November 7, 1952) and the two deaths (Sangre India on December 25, 1979, and Oro on October 23, 1993.)

This comment got stuck in the comment filter, but it’s got a link to the original “Wagner’s going to WWE” article. I can believe he talked to Super Crazy who talked to Vince McMahon, I can’t quite believe anything can come off it, and the suggested idea that he’d work both US and Mexico is clear sign this isn’t far along if any of it happening at all. It’s a non story at this point.

In his weekday column, Arturo Rivera notes the many tecnicos and not so many rudos in AAA. Also, it sounds like the AAA wrestlers are going quizzed on their wrestling abilities by Gran Apache and Pepe Casas. They need to put that on PPV. Arturo seemingly honestly unable to comprehend why management might have issues with some of the wrestling is the best part.

SuperLuchas #257 has Park vs UG and Panther vs V5. Next week is their WM issue.

SuperLuchas’s also posted one two posts on the Chela Salazar show. Playing ‘which guy is taking pictures for the website’ was a fun game to play during intermissions. They got all the wrestlers names (instead of relying what they had written on the gear), so they’re much more professional than I.

Reading thru them, I’m reminded how pointless “Black Fish” really is. The guy I don’t have a problem with, but the name change is kinda pointless. Everyone announces him and puts him on his poster as “the guy who used to be Fishman Jr., Black Fish, the son of Fishman”. The only place he’s Black Fish is in the record books. I guess it works if Fishman is happy, but Black Fish really just got a new look and the old identity.

BTW, the blue tarp you see in the background is a wall divider. On the other side of it is an indoor soccer field, which had games going on for at least the first half of the show.

I went over the top two yesterday. Vaquero got DQed for fouling Metal Blanco in the fourth match. Vaquero shouldn’t be investing any money in haircuts.

4) Difunto I & Difunto II vs Piloto Negro & Piloto Suicida

Besides the lineup, there’s a passionate takedown of local referees, commissions, and promoters for killing lucha by not exerting any control over the referees (who might as well be wrestlers for all their participation) and the matches. And then the article switched to noting only 20% of the local wrestlers have gotten licensed so far, which actually seems up.

indy (SUN) 04/06 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]

Goddess appears to have changed her gear. Yay.

According to SuperLuchas, Vangelis is in CMLL (today) in hopes of beating Mistico and winning his title back. It’s good to dream. I should have more from them tomorrow.

Small time wrestler and big time serial killer Maraviejtas was sentenced to 759 years in jail for her 11 confirmed murders (and other assorted crimes.) Mexican law caps that at 50 years, which doesn’t make any sense to me.
